Dude I don't even care if it's released in deluxes or not but I neeeeeeeeed English releases for Shamo and Usogui, and I'm hoping they pump out Innocent Rouge fast too
The one Manga that deserves the Deluxe Edition treatment, because it’s excellent and the art is so detailed, is Gantz. Sometimes I wanted to get my magnifying glass out to see the detail when reading the omnis.
I wholeheartedly hope this release of Ashita no Joe will be a success, because maybe, just MAYBE, then more gekiga works would gain more recognition. I hope more people would find this style of visuals and storytelling charming or interesting to check out more older series, going all the way back to the creation of gekiga and following the path of this dying style, but seeing the rising demand for more serious and seinen works.
i never owned a physical manga before and id just read using Viz's online sub but this Thursday my mom bought me whatever i wanted at the book store and i got Trigun deluxe edition...... i now own all the ones released and it is my favorite manga RN. i need more deluxe editions.
So I think early on when Darkhorse started publishing the deluxe editions they were trying to appeal to older audience, making a more expensive and premium version of Berserk. Which is why a lot of earlier deluxe editions were of popular Seinen Titles (blade of the immortal and hellsing) and I think they published trigun as an experiment to see if they could publish something aimed at younger audience and still be successful. Then I think Kodansha saw the success of the deluxe editions and hopped on that train with the release of the vinland saga deluxes. So thats why for now (the next 5 or so years) but hopefully with Viz media stepping in the game with deluxe vagabond and ice climber we could actually start to see some shonen titles get published and (hopefully) a deluxe version of slam dunk.
i love this deluxe editions, this is best way of collecting mangas for me... hope publishers will do this with most of titles, i would love Promised Neverland in this format!
The temptation to double dip into a series you already own with a deluxe hardcover is real... looking at you Vagabond. Still the quality is usually always there with the hardcovers and I am very excited to add The Climber to my collection!
I agree there have been a few older series that I’ve stopped myself from picking up just in case they might get a deluxe edition later on down the road, looking at Slam Dunk
I always prefer hardcover deluxe mainly because of their size (it is serious disservice to the great Mangakas who's art is published in tiny tankabon books) and the durability. I waited so many years for Vagabond deluxe, I finally caved in and bought all 3 in 1 paperback editions and very next week I heard they are gonna release it in deluxe 😑
You say it’ll hurt your wallet, but buying a Deluxe for like £35, as a 3in1 isn’t much different to buying the singles at just over £10. So it’s just better overall _(like what you’re saying)_
They're nice, but I disagree. Deluxe editions are bulkier and more unwieldy. I never do my reading sitting at a desk where I can lay them flat and read them, I'm normally reclined, laying down, or sitting in some tiny uncomfortable chair at a doctors office(vet, DMV, etc) so something smaller and more manageable(and thus also easier to tote around) is preferable to me. I don't mind smaller hardcovers(like Erased) but once you get bigger than say, Chobits, I'm a lot less likely to buy it. There's also the space issue. I only have so much storage space, and big bulky hardcovers take up extra space. Most of my manga shelves are double stacked, a row in front and one behind it. But due to the size, my Battle Angel Alita deluxe editions can't have anything in front of them without it sticking out too far, which means it's 6 volumes are basically occupying 12 vol worth of shelf space. As for the cost issue, that depends. If you're paying $30-35 for a 3 in 1, that's fine. It'd cost you that much to buy 3 single vol of most series anyway. But right now that Ashita no Joe is $52 even on Amazon, which is like, the same price(or more) as 4 regular volumes of most series.
As I’m watching this on the ps5 I hopped over to the ole phone to add my 2 cents. I know this manga based but even in American comics I like trades as well they are easier to read and collect as well.
Personally, I will always prefer tonkobons simply because i like to hold my books when i read and the heftier deluxes are just not easy to handle and i cant flip the pages with my thumb. I dont mind the deluxes either but only as a last resort.
I feel like everyone likes hard covers but me. There so much harder to read laying down or wile your comfy. Hard covers you gotta lay down or hold funny
I would honestly love hardcovers of more obscure books like “ghost Reaper girl” and “Shy,” or even a series like “Bleach” 📚📚📚📚 even smaller hardcovers like the series: “for the kid I saw in my dreams” and “Erased” could work for me! 👍😎
i saw the deluxe version the other day too , im going today again to see if they have sales , deluxe are nice , 3 in 1 are a little low on the quality side
I read manga on my kindle scribe, but damn I would love to collect something in a hardcover they look gorgeous, my manga collection is about three volumes of Berserk lol I need to add something in my shelf
Well i live in Algeria there is no manga here , i heard about berserk and it look great to me i love middle ages fantasy stores so i wanted to go for the deluxe edition but i could not find it
Honestly Crunchyroll Store and Amazon are probably where you can find the best prices and selection of series but always keep an eye on Books a million because for physical stores they do the most buy 2 get one free and manga deals in my opinion.
I agree that Amazon and Crunchyroll are safe, solid starts if your first starting out trying to get stuff. However, I would recommend Alibris and Bookshop if your wanting to get stuff from online that weren't from major companies. Alibris is an online website that's great for finding used manga and cheaper prices. Most of the time I can usually find a better deal of some kind than if I got a new copy. Bookshop is a website that helps you find books for sale at smaller/indie bookstores. They've helped raised a lot of money independent bookstores and have a pretty solid manga lineup full of more modern titles.
Berserk Deluxe is the only 10/10 deluxe edition (no translated onomatopoeia/sound effects). Blade of the Immortal is a blasphemy, it reads like an American comic (I can’t believe they still did this). Vinland Saga have translated onomatopoeia/sound effects (blasphemy).
The climbers getting VizBig paperback 2n1s not hardcovers

Trigun and gantz were/are my most wanted deluxes so I hope the latter can get one! Those bricks suck haha
gantz would be amazing
We need Lone Wolf and Cub Deluxe Editions
we got them in germany already :)

Kingdom! For the love of all that’s holy, please Kingdom! 😎
Please!!!
Please! It seem impossible, but oh well…
lol im gonna be broke for years to come when Kingdom gets a deluxe edition.
Gantz too. Those bricks suck
My dumb wish is a deluxe edition of golden kamuy.
It probably won't happen because it isn't too popular, but I can hope
You say it’ll hurt your wallet, but buying a Deluxe for like £35, as a 3in1 isn’t much different to buying the singles at just over £10. So it’s just better overall _(like what you’re saying)_
not particularly about the deluxe edition, but i wish that Billy Bat gets an english release this year
@DanielPeppers maybe you could do a video of your impressions of Ashita no Joe once you've read it? I'm on the fence about buying it😅
I want Gantz, tomodachi game and usogui in deluxe at well. And also Holyland..😊
I'd love to see Kingdom get a deluxe edition release, but I'd settle for it to simply get the english translation tpb.

I dont mind the deluxes either but only as a last resort.
my only gripe with ashita no joe is that it's the same price as trigun or berserk deluxe but the size is way smaller, so disappointing
it's actually more expensive than the dark horse deluxe editions
@@Cass_Collects yup it's crazy, i don't why they did that
I feel like everyone likes hard covers but me. There so much harder to read laying down or wile your comfy. Hard covers you gotta lay down or hold funny
Isn't The Climber just a regular omnibus edition?
Yeah it’s a paperback, I believe it’s a 3 in 1 like Red River, I was wrong when I called it a deluxe edition in the video
I would honestly love hardcovers of more obscure books like “ghost Reaper girl” and “Shy,” or even a series like “Bleach” 📚📚📚📚 even smaller hardcovers like the series: “for the kid I saw in my dreams” and “Erased” could work for me! 👍😎
Erased has hardcover editions. Not the big deluxe versions but still 2 in 1 hardcovers(with :Re getting a final single vol hardcover)
@ Exactly, I’m saying I would like hardcovers similar to the Erased ones
i saw the deluxe version the other day too , im going today again to see if they have sales , deluxe are nice , 3 in 1 are a little low on the quality side
I hope someday hajime no ippo manga gets a English print
I'd loooove a Dorohedoro deluxe edition
I read manga on my kindle scribe, but damn I would love to collect something in a hardcover they look gorgeous, my manga collection is about three volumes of Berserk lol I need to add something in my shelf
Fully agree. I just get more immersed through the deluxe editions rathen than the singles
knights of the zodiac is the bane of my existence because the 1 single volume i have is sitting there on my shelf and taunting me
I don't think "The Climber" release will be in deluxe edition... yet... As far as I know it's a paperback.
Claymore would be dope.
A little disappointed with fighting for tomorrow deluxe though. At $5 more than Vinland the quality is just not there for the price.
Paper quality and hardcover quality were less but price inflated
Well i live in Algeria there is no manga here , i heard about berserk and it look great to me i love middle ages fantasy stores so i wanted to go for the deluxe edition but i could not find it
The climber hardcover what? Where have you seen that?
What platform do you use to read digital HQ scans that isn’t the shonen jump app. You know for other genres:series
Kingdom and Hajime no Ippo plz
Osamu tezuka manga and Lone Wolf in deluxe editions ✋
I want Dragon ball series deluxe edition i hope they release soon
I love reading manga in gigantic page format
Space brothers deluxe editions fight against me 😅😅😅
Wooo you're reading ashita no joe?!?!!
Absolutely I just picked up two days ago so haven’t finished it yet but plan to finish it this weekend
@@DanielPeppers one of my favourite comics ever. Im sure you'll love it. Its really one of those generational manga that define its genre for decades
the climber is only a 2 in 1 paperback, regular size tankabon
Yeah I was wrong about that, I thought I had read it was going to be a deluxe edition. I’m Still excited it’s getting an English release
@@DanielPeppers i ended up reading the climber digitally, binged through it so fast it was soo good, artwork was breath taking, you'll luv it

Bro we need black clover and fire force in hard cover I would cry
Hajime no ippo deluxe edition please 😊
That would be the dream. That's why I'm happy we're getting Ashita no Joe at least.
It’s a Hassle to read them. My only issue
I need more money...
is it worth the price?
depends on your budget, Ashita No Joe being $60 is ridiculous
I dont like prefer singles and i hate they are pushing for these bibles
yes we need one piece deluxe editions!!!!
Berserk Deluxe is the only 10/10 deluxe edition (no translated onomatopoeia/sound effects).
Blade of the Immortal is a blasphemy, it reads like an American comic (I can’t believe they still did this).

Ty, i agree 100%. Blade Deluxe is disrespectful to both the author and the readers.
