Every Darling episode was an instant classic.
Agreed
Boys just sit around staring at you 🤷🏼♂️. 🤓😎✌🏼
Always loved the Darlings coming to town
Love the episodes with Darlings because you know you're going to hear some good music.
Hi Bob and everyone I liked the episodes with the Dillard's Thank you for the video God Bless Much Love Jean
The Dillards are very talented, I liked them on the show. Good video, Bob.
Love the Dillards and still listen to them. In the late 60s or so I saw them at the Cellar Door in Washington DC with George Carlin. Best music and comedy I ever witnessed!
Loved the Dillards! Praying for you Bob 🙏
Thanks John
The Dillard's knew their music. Very talented. They blended in with Andy. Appreciate the video. God bless. Melanie
"Dooley" is a great song by the Dillards.
Got Time to Breath
Ya, got Time for Music
I had a chance to see them at a bluegrass festival in the seventies.
They were outstanding
They still tour although Rodney is the only original still with us
So Neat 😮
My absolutely favorite episodes especially when Maggie Peterson was involved. They should have been in a lot more episodes or even been featured in a spin off.
"More power to ya"
I always love to see an episode with “Brisco and the boys.” My favorite song from them is “Dooley.” I also like Maggie Peterson (Charlene Darling) with her country charm as well.
Don’t play that one pa…it makes me 😢 cry
Love the shirt Bob ! Good episode too.thanks
I love the darlings so much, going to see Rodney & the Dillards in two weeks at Mayberry Festival in Scottsburg. The Dillards were so so so talented.
Are they still together and performing?
@@jimmorris1002 yes they do, they have a show coming up in Kansas and Indiana. They're absolutely amazing live.
@@FrankensteinLover Thank you for the update. Where in Indiana?
@@jimmorris1002 yeah its in scottsburg Indiana, the event is called mayberry in scottsburg
Rodney is the only member still alive from the originals
Thanks Bob for this AGS F & T segment. You did a segment on this prior but I enjoyed hearing it again and I am sure those not having seen it will appreciate it.
It was exciting when the Darlings came to town 😂
Great, great video. I said this before...the Darlings were my favorite episodes!
They were music 🎶 Royalty in NC where I live.
Briscoe: “okay boys, put on your old clothes, we got some cleaning to do”
“usually good for 11 hat fulls”
Such funny writing, such great music.
Thanks Bob. 🙋♂️🙏
Worthy of another mention, I discovered the Dillards from TAGS & later on in my 30's I started collecting their Lp's. Soon after I had every one of their original Albums & their later released CD's. Was in their fan club 4yrs & got an autographed picture of the band !! Thanx Bob, great video here,,any on the Darlings is appreciated.
"They all keyed up." Briscoe Darling 😊
"They're overcome with emotion."
Thanks for all your hard work Bob, just for our entertainment. I hope you’re health is well today. Your shirt tells me all I need to know about your future. I look forward to meeting you someday at the Masters table.
Romans 8:28
There's a video of them appearing on the Judy Garland show that's worth looking for here on RUclips.
I like one stage exchange where the "spokeman" Dillard "explains" the history of the mandolin was "Invented by an Eye-tailian geetar maker with REAL short arms!"😆. Dooley is my favorite as well. 🎵...just give me a swallor🎶and I'll pay ya back someday 🎵🤓😎✌🏼
This Video was Very Informative and Good.
Thanks Again.
Love Your Shirt.
Jesus Jesus, Jesus 🙌🙌 I see your shirt and love it🙏🏼♥️
It says "Jesus saved my life"
Didn't know they played with Elton John. Nice!
I had no idea that Briscoe Darling was Uncle Jesse on the Dukes of Hazzard. Well, thanks for the info Bob.
He was also on the Doris Day show😅...as well as a funny Gomer ep as a tomato farmer out on a remote part of the marine base.
The Dillards did some great music. According to Mayberry 101, they were encouraged to use their own songs. That would mean getting royalties. Yet their first two episodes ended up in the public domain. The Season 3 DVD set has a small disclaimer about some episodes not being complete. Someone showed a missing scene from their first episode. But it didn't involve music.
Briscoe's jug playing was a little distracting at first. But they may have gone to the other extreme regarding volume. Margaret Petersen did sing with them on some concerts. Too bad she and Denver Pyle apparently never guested on any of their albums. We still don't know if it was just a coincidence each Darling episode centered on marriage.
great video! was so glad i got to see rodney a couple yrs ago. hope to see him again sometimes show was wonderful and always love when you have videos about them and all info you share have a great weekend friend.
Neat
The Dillards were on a level with Bill Monroe or Flatt and Scruggs.
I actually prefered the dillards. Had a friend who played fiddle with bill monroe in his later years
My favorite Dillard song is There Goes The Neighborhood, which is probably Rodney and his rendition of the band
The Dillard's were good on the andy griffith show their music 🎶 was good I liked that episode the darlings are coming good video bob
Thanks Vickie
They got no speaking parts except once one said “Sorry, Paw”. The song “There is a Time”, performed on the show was written by Doug Dillard. Good friends with the late John Hartford, they have mountains of recording credits.
"But Paw, that one makes you cry!"
"Well, I'll fight it!"
Great music! 🎶 wonder why they never talked? 🤔
A little of The Darlings, like Earnest T Bass, goes a long way. They are unforgettable for their roles on The Andy Griffith Show, despite their relatively rare appearances.
Trivia: Only two of the Dillards were named Dillard. The mandolin player was Dean Webb and the pipe-smoking bass player was Mitch Jayne.
Yup
👍❤️
They were just missing a fiddle player maybe Vassar Clements would have joined them if asked
Being opinionated, I'd have a hard time being quiet when brisco talks about them and they make those distant faces 😮
Andy: "The boys are kinda quiet tonight."
The Boys: (Blank facial expressions).
Briscoe: "Oh, they're just overcome with emotion!"
❤❤❤😮😮😮😊😊😊
After a couple episodes of the Darlings. I had my fill. Excellent musicians but a bit too hayseed.
I know I’m in the minority but I never liked episodes with the Darlings or Ernest T Bass. I guess I didn’t like the type of conflict they created (especially Bass).
I agree completely with you on Bass, he was annoying. They should have let Barney take him behind the barn and "POW,POW,POW!!" ("He'll kill ya"). The Darlings were funnier but their irrationality when it came to their superstitions could be exasperating ("there's no use talking!!)
