"29 IBUs in an IPA is unheard of" - bit of dramatic irony/foreshadowing from Major Paynes lol! It'd be awesome to see a new episode with Chris if he's available. Thanks to youtube for this throwback!
He is actually back in the Cities, but hasn't been brewing for a while. Maybe we can get him to ride shotgun and oversee a new brew day video. He's still beer sharp as ever.
"I tried to follow the recipe as closely as possible." "Recipe said put in 2 tbsp, but I used the whole can anyway." In other words, you "Chip Waltoned" it! BLAM. The stew looks yummy. Good times.
Love CHOP AND BREW! I've been a subscriber since episode one. You guys are pretty much the only ones still doin new and quality brew vids. KEEP-i-duP. Also just got my hops planted this year.( in pots, cascades.) Would love to see updates on your hops plants later this year if ya still got that goin.
I'm making this stew next weekend for a day-belated St. Patty's day celebration - along with corned beef and the home brew line up: an Irishy-Red Ale and Dry Stout.
I made some brown soda bread for St. Paddy's, it was amazing...I keep having a craving to bake some again. I bet that and the Irish stew you linked could spell food coma.
Wow an Irish stew with red wine? nope! and that much tomato paste - way too much but if you like Italian food it will still taste good. The rest looked pretty good though. The session IPA looks awesome but I'm trying to keep the alcohol content a bit low so I'll not be trying it. Love the series though - keep going please.
Nice looking stew! Be sure to get a nice, brown sear on the beef at the begining and skim the fat off the top often. Also, dang man, ease up on the tomato paste. A dab'll do ya. Looked great overall. Hit me up if you are looking for any recipes to try. I have lots of them and a (useless) culinary degree to go with it.
+ima trot I was just following the recipe. I'm sure the salt will get worked into the meat as it "sweats" out. Usually the outside rub and the inside moisture do a kind of swap and pull that good spice (salt in this case) into the meat.
Your videos always make me smile. Great job!
I love seeing Don O. up in the Chop & Brew business.
The stew looks awesome. I might have to try that some time.
Nice job Chip, keep them coming!!!

Chris is one smart dude. The crew you have assembled for this Episode needs to come back together again sometime soon, yo.

I saw an actual Major Payne at the Camp Fallujah chow hall once.
Did he school everyone on the importance of proper yeast counts?
ChopAndBrew I didn't speak to him. I just saw he had gold oak leaves on his collar and his name tape said PAYNE.
Stews are so good, bring on winter and cooking with Beer.
Dude, the Food Network should pick this up!
I gotta make that Golden Sunlight!!!
Stew made me hungry, and I might have to try that Golden Sunlight. MMMMM bbbeeeerrrr MMMM
Chop for chop, brew for brew. Thanks Chip!
'Tis the House of Walton
Hmmmm. I didn't think to ID him at the door. I wonder.....
The Nazz sounds real good, I will definitely be using the recipe. But probably try citra and simcoe or nelson sauvin and something else. Great video
Maj Payne sounds like a really smart dude!
What are Chris Paynes' credentials? He sounds like a very knowledgable intelligent scholar. So enjoy his input.
Truth.
More Chris Paynes coming up soon.

Is Chris 21 yet?
Why salt when not cooked? So much flavour would have been soaked up by that paper towel!
