My sister and I attended the Sparks concert at the Anaheim Convention Center in 1983. The Bangles were the opening act. And Jane Weidlin showed up to sing "Cool Places".
I taped this concert on VHS in 1983/4, and wacthed it about 200 times - so this quality is a bit like going back in time! thanks for the share - so nice that someone else has it and put it up for all to see!
My sister and I are in the middle front row. I sent this to her, thanx! We had so much fun! After the stage turned ( the first time ) we were separated...I held my spot!!! By the fourth and final rotation of the stage, my sister was way way to the right of me...I stood firm and stayed dead center...bloody and a torn shirt from the passing speakers!!So much fun!! Awesome memories..proof there were the 80's and proof that we were nerds!!P.S. After the show...I was leaning on the wall by the front door..( with my war wounds ) and from the corner of my eye, I saw my sister..arm and arm, walking with Boy Geotge to his awaiting limo...Dang-it!!!
I've never seen Ron look as happy and relaxed as here. Cool to seem them live at this period. A lot stronger and rockier of a sound than from the albums.
God I don't need their albums to sound 'rockier'-I can get that crap from any kind of guitar-outfit designed to make noise and nothing else. Ever heard of synth-ROCK? There's plenty of that on their cool 1983 & 1984 albums!
Hello-Yes I am interested. All I know is russell was wearing the same outfit as he was here. After the concert we went backstage, and the drummer gave my brother his drumsticks, and the gave us a poster of all the band wearing Russell's glittery outfit, and they all signed it! I was dating Les Bohem the bass players niece. Thanks much! Paul
I was there for this one. Now if u could only find the concert they did at Magic Mountain! I was backstage for that one with my brother my date and some friends. Thanks Great video!
Pure 1980's! What a time machine this RUclips video is! It brought back feelings and senses of my childhood all the while playing great tracks from my favorite band!
Romeo Void was a great Band that got dropped because the lead singer didn’t look like a model. Literally the record company didn’t want to promote them thinking they wouldn’t make it.
I was at this concert, (paid as a dancer) I've never seen it, and I was hoping the whole thing with all the bands was uploaded. Is there any chance you have that footage available? I have another one that I danced on, with Stevie Ray Vaughn, Spandau Ballet, Roman Holiday etc. If you know where I can get my hands on this, would you please contact me? I'd be so grateful. Thank you! Great concert, by the way.
+Dori Shear HI. I WAS THERE TOO. WE GOT PUSHED BACK SO THE PAID DANCERS COULD BE NEAR THE STAGE. i'M HAVING A FLASH BACK MOMENT. DO YOU REMEMBER WHAT OTHER BANDS WERE THERE? i THINK I REMEMBER THE BASS PLAYER FROM THE GO GO'S DOING SOME SONGS THAT NIGHT AS WELL.
I wish I had it. I just barely remember being there. We knew they were recording that night. We were pretty blasted. I know we had fun. I also know there were other groups there that night but I can't remember who they were. Just for the record, I'm a 51 year old dude and I look nothing like my picture...lol
Where did you get the Sparks footage? Culture Club was there The Heaters, Oingo Boingo, Sparks and i don't remember who else. I was there for two nights.
Ron and Russell doing everything they could to "break" America. Don't get me wrong. there are some great songs from this period but, to me, it always looked a little forced. I don't blame them, the US were fools not to get behind Sparks with Half Nelson/Sparks and Woofer. Two great timeless albums.
This was a series that ran on Showtime in the 1983-84. Forgot all about it,until recently heard Romeo Void's "Never say never" (song used on the opening) Brings back memories!!
@@PAULLONDEN Ha! Young man, if I was there, I would utterly disagree with you. Men shaving anywhere comes to know good in the end and turns them into the so many barbie boys ruining the world today. 😜
@@kyachdistent1301 Bytheway...it was meant as a sarcastic joke.....Russel having been somewhat effeminate, wearing ladies' jackets and all that....no shame in that .....twas just a joke . Apart from the occasional exception , Sparks stopped being interesting after 'Propaganda' anyway. Too clever for their own good.
@@PAULLONDEN Sorry, got it. Got to say I'm impressed with the clobber he chooses to wear and doesn't care if people question it as sexually suspect or something. After all, Grace Jones and Annie Lennox being wearing male suits for ages.

Sparks - I Wish I Looked A Little Better, from the album In Outer Space 1983
Oh my god. That was amazing.
Romeo Void was a great Band that got dropped because the lead singer didn’t look like a model.

Really? The place was so mobbed, I don't remember that. Anyway, do you have the whole concert? I would love to see it!

I don't have any of the footage besides what you see right here on you tube. If I come across any, I'll get back to you.
The "what's this camera doing in our room?" & "hello mum" guy at 14:09-really looks like Scots actor Douglas Henshall of UK show "Primeval" fame.
Awesome! So cool! Tha ks for posting!
intro the never say never romeo void´s song
Anybody knows where can i get the ROCK OF THE 80s show? Looking for years, It is the first time I see it on the internet, at least part of the show….

i was the hostess of the show and would absolutely love to be able to see the entire 1st episode as well as the other 3?4? episodes. Anyone?
Wish I'd been there, but I was an unfortunate aged between 5 &6!
Was this a series? What was it on and how long did it run for? After doing a search I only found a very bad quality clip of REM.

stmarks1984 I wonder how we could find the series. I danced on two different nights, including this one.

Looks like his mic died at the end 😅
No they just ended
