Watching this while I'm hunting my nickel box and I can't believe it, I found an 1886 V Nickel tonight. Pretty slick but I'll take it, probably never find one of those again. Nickels are so fun to hunt!
Hey Rob, good thing this lot was sold to your LCS instead of dumping them at the bank! Awesome score good sir, can't wait for the next two parts. Hope you're feeling better. As always, keep it up brother!
I love these type stashes. More fun to search through. Just got a 12 lb. bag of pennies from my grandmother's estate. Over 600 Wheaties, WITH 1 - 1909 VDB, and a wide range fro the teens to the 50s, and 5.5 lbs of copper Memorials. Found some minor varieties, no majors.
Wow, cool collection purchase! You put in a lot of hours with the nickels video! Looking forward to the other videos in this collection purchase. Thanks RFT!
Rob I watch ever video you put out. And I have been watching for I think almost 3 years. I love to watch long form videos and I know that you always get concerned when the video get to long. I’m here to say I want them to be long I love them when there longer especially when you buy these collections. Your fans your rob finds treasure fam will watch them
Certain types of wavelength light can be used to make hard-to-read dates on buffalo nickels more visible without damaging the coin. Some collectors and researchers use these methods: 1. Ultraviolet (UV) Light: UV light can sometimes reveal details that are otherwise difficult to see under normal light. The interaction between the metal surface and UV light might enhance the visibility of worn dates, making them easier to read. 2. Infrared (IR) Light: Infrared light can also bring out subtle contrasts on the surface of a coin, revealing hidden or faint features like dates. It’s a non-invasive technique used in various forms of art and archaeology to uncover details without damaging artifacts. 3. LED Light with Adjustable Wavelengths: Some modern LED magnifiers or lights allow for fine-tuning of wavelength (color) and intensity. Adjusting the wavelength might enhance the contrast between worn and unworn areas of the nickel, making dates more readable. 4. Side Lighting with Regular Light: Using a bright light at a low angle can cast shadows that make the date more visible, especially on worn surfaces. While these methods might not always work, they are a safer alternative to using chemicals or mechanical methods like "nick-a-date," which can damage the coin’s surface.
Heck yeah! Going through an unknown coin collection is always fun! It would be sweet if you could find a nice variety or two. Did you scope all of the buffalo nickels for varieties? It is cruel to make us wait for video #2 and #3! 😂 Another great video!
While I enjoyed it, as I do with all the hunts, and it was a great Buffalo herd, dates or not. Nothing really fabulous on this search. 09vdb's were nice. Love seeing old collections like this.
Hey I’ve noticed recently swelling in the ends of your fingers that’s usually a starting sign of heart disease issues or lung issues. Could also be a side effect of medication or infection but might want to get it checked if you haven’t already.
Where do you get lucky enough to find this stuff? I think the story behind finding it is just as important as hunting it to be honest. I try to stop at every garage sale I see "just in case"... Granted I don't spend nearly enough time as I'd like hunting for treasure.

Nic A Dated Buffaloes bring about 1/3 of grey sheet for early rarer teens & 20s coins; nice way to fill those tough dates in your sets!
Coffee can and old Christmas cookie tins are the most stereotypical old coin collection around 😂
literally!
Be careful nick-a-dating those nickels. You might ruin a valuable coin. I can't wait to see the rest of the series. Thanks Rob!

I'll be waiting for that nickel starter set... :)
Looking forward to the other parts

Interesting!
Nice vid!
Hey I’ve noticed recently swelling in the ends of your fingers that’s usually a starting sign of heart disease issues or lung issues. Could also be a side effect of medication or infection but might want to get it checked if you haven’t already.
It’s medication side effects. I have an unresolved health issue.
@@RobFindsTreasure ah ok I’m in the same boat with health issues
@RobFindsTreasure I certainly hope the medication is doing its job. We need you around for a while.
Can you imagine having pulled that many Buffalo and V nickels out of change over the decades? 🤯
According to what I saw, there was no "Shield" cent for the missing 1931-S Buffalo Nickel
Where do you get lucky enough to find this stuff? I think the story behind finding it is just as important as hunting it to be honest. I try to stop at every garage sale I see "just in case"... Granted I don't spend nearly enough time as I'd like hunting for treasure.
