I think Low-budget Doctor Doom is still a more faithful version than two out of three of the official live-action versions. And the third one was done by Roger Corman.
Twin Peaks was a massive success when it came out, both critically and commercially. It garnered even more acclaim since then, but it pulled down a massive viewership during its first season. It changed the way that television shows were made. It's not a cult classic, it's just a classic. I know that was just a throw away line, but it bugged the hell out of me. Love your work either way.
Glad I'm not the only one who got annoyed by that line. The show was, quite literally, a hit from episode 1. Nobody did murder mysteries like that back then... if you had a problem it was solved by the end of the episode most times. Loved the review though, as Full Moon is always an interesting studio.
Oh my God, thank you for reviewing this! I saw this movie a long, long time ago on the old Sci-fi channel as a kid and although I was too young to fully understand it, I was captivated by it and never forgot it. I tried finding it several times but no luck, until now. Thank you, again, now that I'm older I want to track this down.
Another great episode. This one was always a guilty pleasure for me. It was the 90s after all, and anything with Sherilyn Fenn worked for me. I believe I may still have the VHS in a box somewhere. Have been on the lookout for a DVD edition, but I've yet to find one.
I recently discovered your channel and cannot believe that I was missing out on some prime moive review fun for so long. You've more than earned yourself a new sub. I've already binged watched more of your videos today that I have of any other channel this week. That's how awesome your content is :) .
It took me years to find it and when I did it was on VHS. I didn't even know it was on DVD until a few years after that. I still have the VHS copy too.
I remember that Werewolf tv show from when I was a kid, it starred Chuck Connors as the bad guy werewolf. When him and the other good guy werewolf were about to turn into a wolf, a bloody pentagram would appear on the palm of their hand.
The park is "Il Parco dei Mostri" (park of monsters) in Bomarzo near Viterbo in Italy. It's a "divertissment" built in the XVI century by an italian Prince (Vicino Orsini). It'a a beautiful, strange abd a little scary place. If you ever come to italy go visit it. it,s one of th ethousands of little gem of our country.Keep up with the good work.
Phil Fondecaro(Dwarf) was a really good actor. He appeared in several Full Moon films. He ALSO had a role in "Willow"(the hunter who accompanies Willow)
I remember watching this on cinemax when I was a teenager on a Saturday afternoon (was raining) and thinking why didnt she just leave... at least Im not the only person alive who remembers this movie
I sure had a thing for Charlie Spradling when I was hitting puberty. I know Sherilyn Fenn was meant to be the star, but it’s Charlie that I remember the most vividly.
In fairness Cecil, I believe twin peaks was the a top rated critic/rating wise shows on T.V. durning the first season it ran. I never have watched the show but I can remember it being the biggest thing on TV in the very early 90's. I know the second season nosedived. I could be wrong. Any who? Keep up the great work, look forward to every video you make. RIP Opie "Your mom's box"
Mostri Park can also be seen in the Chris Lee/Donald Sutherland horror flick "Castle of the Living Dead" from 1964. That one is in B/W so it is great to see it in color in Meridian.
WTF a way of the warrior reference. 0:12 I almost like it more than the O&A references. As a fighting game fanatic growing up i love it. My favorite growing up was killer instinct, so much so i bought the arcade unit.
Hell yeah. I remember watching Ice Pirates so many times, as a kid, that I lost count. Loved it, back in it's day. Yet I've not seen it in almost 30 years. Would be interesting to see which parts remain familiar. Although he's mentioned having severe issues with certain IP owners, and their hair trigger copyright strikes, here. So they may not get one.
I don't know if this is anything or not, but in Clive Barker's Cabal, the place where the "monsters" live is called Midian, some kind of magical place that is a sanctuary for the monsters aka Nightbreed. Sorry, but I just think it's interesting how the two names are similar and in a way seem to possibly be similar places if I am remembering the movie correctly. I think it had a dreamlike quality to it and it was supposed to be a little bit like a fairy tale. I need to take another look at it again.
Overall, good video, but you have some misinformation on Twin Peaks near the end. The show was a huge success, viewership-wise & critically. It actually began the "water cooler talk" at workplaces, which was later incorporated into its marketing. The show declined during it's mid-second season, due to the resolution of who killed Laura Palmer, and then ABC moving its time slot around all over the place afterwards. Also, I do believe that the 2-hour pilot of Twin Peaks had come out before this (which is what got the series greenlit, due to how well the pilot was received by viewers), because the big thing I remember on all the old Full Moon VHSes that had promos for Meridian, they mentioned how Sherilyn Fenn was of Twin Peaks fame.
Love your channel and videos. They always make me want to watch the movies myself... though I find that often, when I do, I don't enjoy them as much because you've done such a thorough job of explaining the plot that they are - in essence - "ruined" for me. I don't mean that to sound like some harsh criticism. Far from it. Most of these movies I'd never get around to seeing, so getting your humorous cliff-notes versions are pretty awesome. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos and for watching all of these movies I'd never end up seeing. Well done.
Was just getting ready to watch the newest episode of Twin Peaks after watching this video. So I'll take this as a sign that Audrey finally shows up in this episode.
Bending chains is easy, plastic or otherwise. You see a chain's value or strength is in ability to withstand tension not its unbendable prowess. The fact a chain can easily be bent is often viewed as a positive factor by most chain connoisseurs.
Yeah he's the village warrior isn't he :) I love Phil Fondacaro, he's in loads of Charles Bands movies, he even plays 2 roles in Troll (Malcolm the professor and the Troll) for such a small guy he's got quite an acting range, great in Ghoulies 2 as well :)
Could almost be a pre/se quel to Nightbreed. Hime city of the 'freaks' is known as Meridian. A few quick cuts, and easy to make into sequel. Add a scene at start explaining the portal connected to 'New Meridian', the new home found by freaks after old home was attacked by button eye killer. Boom, sequel. Or they are somehow ancestors travellex through portal in time to find descendants.
+amstel 54 Those are some really great suggestions, man. Another movie I'd kinda want Cecil to check out is that "Near Dark", at least for his "exploring" series.
+Snarky McSne It's kind of amazing how much people loathed that movie when it came out. Ebert put it on his "worst movies" list, which i feel was very undeserved. I mean, it's not "The Divine Comedy", but come on.
I have this movie on a DVD pack I found at my local walmart for $5. I thought at first that Oliver was a werewolf, and the whole thing just felt so...weird? But thats the beauty of Full Moon. Yeah its campy, its cheesy, its weird, but its fun and entertaining. Aside from the sexual content and the plot holes like everyone as a ghost, I think it missed a LOT of details. Like, why did Catherine abandon her best friend with NO explanation? Another plot hole: what was the deal with them drugging the wine during the dinner party? What was their motive? Or like, wouldn't anyone in their right mind immediately report suspicious behavior or noises when the brothers fight in the garden? Its artsy, creative and interesting, but for me personally, it would of been better as a book. A novella of sorts perhaps? What do you think? Better a book or movie?
I just watched the movie and me personally they shouldn't have made them twins. I thought it was going to be like any type of beauty and the beast version, and when they have hand to hand combat. You are right about the whole drugging their wine like was that needed. What was the point of the other brother wearing a mask? He's not deformed, or the brother doesn't want people to know he has a twin, which is weird because it's normal. Instead of the whole drugging scene, it would have been better and more comfortable for Catherine to follow Oliver and ask him why he left, and she found out Oliver is the dude's brother while the friend is trying to flirt with him but he's eyeing Catherine.
There's a fucking bigfoot type monster firing a crossbow in this movie, and he's disarmed by a dwarf with a whip. I don't think I'll ever be able to watch movies again.
Automatic like for the use of "Hello" in the sculpting scene, but I would have liked it regardless just because of how well this was done. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the woman who plays Martha/Dead Nanny the same woman who played the doctor in charge of the eugenics program in Robot Jox that created Athena, with the classic line, "He's killing her. He's KILLING her!" ?
I am probably going to be the millionth person to point this out, but you said 'Twin Peaks didn't do well at the time, but is now a cult thing'?????? TP was HUGE at the time. A phenomenon. Many consider, along with Miami Vice, Twin Peaks to be one of the shows that brought cinematic flair to the small screen making room for things like The Sopranos or The Wire or now Game of Thrones or the Walking Dead(the visual style, not the cheesy soap-operatic writing and dialogue of course). At the time Twin Peaks was one of the hugest things on TV to eve happen. Hell, SNL did a great parody of it and it made Fenn's career along with many others.
Great channel :) Could You to "Feast" or "The Craving" please? Also, few movies that You may not have heard of but would most likely enoy watching: "Stalker (1979)" "Navigator pirx (1978) Can be hard to find in english or at all, but worth watch for sure.
one of my favorite RUclips channels. Keep up the great work and thank you for all the incredible content.
DanielCrowder you got to love it
Thank you!
I totally agree with you!
I totally agree with you Mr. Crowder. This channel is wonderful.
DanielCrowder my sentiments exactly!
I think Low-budget Doctor Doom is still a more faithful version than two out of three of the official live-action versions. And the third one was done by Roger Corman.
Man that Lionel Richie bit got me real good.
TheDoctorOfOdd Theres a new Season airing :)
Glad I'm not the only one who got annoyed by that line. The show was, quite literally, a hit from episode 1. Nobody did murder mysteries like that back then... if you had a problem it was solved by the end of the episode most times. Loved the review though, as Full Moon is always an interesting studio.
Yeah, during the summer of 1990, the words "Who killed Laura Palmer?" were absolutely inescapable.
Heck, she got to reprise her Audrey Horne character in the TP reboot.
Wasn't she also Rachel (Raven) Roth's mum in Titans? Killed off in the pilot...
Oh my God, thank you for reviewing this! I saw this movie a long, long time ago on the old
Sci-fi channel as a kid and although I was too young to fully understand it, I was captivated by it and never forgot it. I tried finding it several times but no luck, until now. Thank you, again, now that I'm older I want to track this down.
You are welcome! If you have a bluray player, they restored it and put it out. It looks terrific in widescreen over the old pan and scan.
Another great episode. This one was always a guilty pleasure for me. It was the 90s after all, and anything with Sherilyn Fenn worked for me. I believe I may still have the VHS in a box somewhere. Have been on the lookout for a DVD edition, but I've yet to find one.

Love your videos, thank you so much for always introducing us to such forgotten gems with such a great sense of humor!
You are welcome :)
Yet another great video! The best channel on RUclips. Keep up the great work man.
Thanks!
Thanks for covering this. I've had this on a DVD combo pack for awhile now and never heard anyone else talk about it.
It took me years to find it and when I did it was on VHS. I didn't even know it was on DVD until a few years after that. I still have the VHS copy too.
Every Time I see a GBF Notification I feel like Dave Chappelle in Half Baked when the scientist hands him a pound of weed 😃
I remember that Werewolf tv show from when I was a kid, it starred Chuck Connors as the bad guy werewolf. When him and the other good guy werewolf were about to turn into a wolf, a bloody pentagram would appear on the palm of their hand.
Gotta love Cecil's classic style reviews. His current movie reviews and Exploring reviews are nice, but I love his funny reviews.
Thanks! I love doing both but I have more fun doing these.
The painting "Nailed it!" had me laughing. Love these ones so much.
"There's no where they could have gone with it"
Full Moon: Hold my film canister!
Cecil, this was also one of your funniest videos for commentary and editing! Cheers
Thank you!
I love Full Moon. You don't see movies like this anymore.
Thanks! I was in Italy years ago but didn't make it that far in. If I ever make it back I want to check it out.
F. Y. I. Wish Apon is a lousy movie. it was like watching someone taking a shit on a goosebumps episode for an hour and a half!
Park and nearby town of Bomarzo is incredible, been there last year, that was awesome trip. Definitely worth seeing.
Phil Fondecaro(Dwarf) was a really good actor. He appeared in several Full Moon films. He ALSO had a role in "Willow"(the hunter who accompanies Willow)
When I heard of Meridian, I instantly thought of the Night Breed
These are fun to watch. Especially knowing that there are so many to be seen!
I should've guessed this was another Full Moon production. Another great review, keep it up Cecil.
Thanks!
This movie is like a dream you have during a midday nap on a lazy summer sunday. Weird and sexual and feels like part of bigger story
I like this description
Thought this was gonna be a sequel to Night Breed....
The artists work you showed is one of my fav! He has some awesome works!!!!
UnwrittenSpade Who is it? It’s wildly uncomfortable, I like it!
I remember watching this on cinemax when I was a teenager on a Saturday afternoon (was raining) and thinking why didnt she just leave... at least Im not the only person alive who remembers this movie
I saw it for the first time on the Sci Fi channel and then spent years trying to find it again.
Have you seen 1989's 'Warlock'? It's got time travelling witches: I reckon you'll love that one!
Warlock is a good request. I didn't mind the sequel, either. I heard the 3rd one sucked.
Excellent movie, bland sequel and fucking terrible 3rd entry.
You HAD to show proof that there's Bigfoot porn lol
for the love of God, burn it! Burn it all! If 4chan founds out we are all doomed!
Is that so surprising when tentacle porn, anime and live action, is a thing? 😃
I didn't want anyone to go looking and run into something worse
Far to late for that.
I've... seen things... that you wouldn't believe.
Roy Phillips: I'm in; but only if there's brownie mix and ball gags.
That 'Hello' bit with the statue was great.
Nice to see Full Moon giving you a shout out on Facebook.
Always awesome to see this pop up in my notifications. Keep up the great work!
-Respectfully, Sonofccn
Thanks!
I sure had a thing for Charlie Spradling when I was hitting puberty. I know Sherilyn Fenn was meant to be the star, but it’s Charlie that I remember the most vividly.
Wow, I can’t believe it’s 2019 and 1990 was almost 30 years ago it doesn’t seem like it I remember it so well.
good to see u back Cecil .
hello from India .
Thanks!
'Twin Peaks' DID do well at the time, just suffered a large drop in viewership after about ep 8 of Season 2.
It was THE television how of it's time.
Sherilyn Fenn is one of the reasons I have such good finger dexterity as an adult lol 😜
Because you made wood carvings of her in your spare time? How sweet!
Chris Dooley she’s 1 if the reasons I have carpel tunnel
Once again great video Cecil! Meridian was funny...But please, I need a Happy Hell Night explore!
Thanks!
You should do a review of Full Moon's "The Pit and the Pendulum" starring Lance Henriksen.
One of my guilty pleasure movies. Not one of Band's best, but "Il Parco dei Mostri" fascinated me and I would love to see it in person someday.
Mostri Park can also be seen in the Chris Lee/Donald Sutherland horror flick "Castle of the Living Dead" from 1964. That one is in B/W so it is great to see it in color in Meridian.
Charlie Spradling... So hot!!
“OH YEAH.. THATS A THING!” Hahahah
"hey guys what about me?" What about you? (So glad you did a retrospect on this movie! See it is a real movie!)
Pure gold
WTF a way of the warrior reference. 0:12 I almost like it more than the O&A references. As a fighting game fanatic growing up i love it. My favorite growing up was killer instinct, so much so i bought the arcade unit.
I'd love to see you cover The Gate, Ice Pirates and Time Bandits...
Hell yeah.
I remember watching Ice Pirates so many times, as a kid, that I lost count. Loved it, back in it's day. Yet I've not seen it in almost 30 years. Would be interesting to see which parts remain familiar.

KULL THE CONQUER with kevin sorbo!! please and the midget in this movie is in kull as well so got to do it now bro!!
I remember him best from Ghoulies 2 and the Olsen Twins' Double Double Toil and Trouble.
I'll always recognize him as Vohkhar in 'Willow'.

Indeed they are.
i love these.keep up the good work dude
I have an idea. Exploring Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
"Hellooo...is it meat you lookin' for?"~The Beast🐾😆
The still frame that pops up at 3:45, can anyone please tell me where it came from? I see that image every time I close my eyes

excellent video man, could you please do a Exploring review of Punisher War Zone ?
nice video sir, always fantastic work! but what am I looking at, at 3:45?

So many movies, and no Kull the Conqueror. Also thinking of Lost Highway. Maybe Vampires, also. :-)
Bending chains is easy, plastic or otherwise. You see a chain's value or strength is in ability to withstand tension not its unbendable prowess. The fact a chain can easily be bent is often viewed as a positive factor by most chain connoisseurs.
You really make a gothic-horror feels like a comedy with this one
"Low Budget Dr. Doom" still looks better than the F4ntastic Four movie
You should review the first Troll it's actually pretty good in my opinion.
Or review the 1993 movie Carnosaur that film is cheesy goodness.
Isn't the 'Time Portal' the same prop used in the 1997 movie 'the Relic'?
Confusing Phil Fondacaro with Charlie Spradling ha ha I bet Phil was chuffed to pieces :-D
I didn't know Phil was the same guy from Willow until years later
Best use of "nailed it" ever!
Do a review of Raw Deal! I liked that film when I was a teen but I'm not a big fan of it now. Would be fun to see your take on an 80s Arnie film
The Beast effects look like they recycled the wolf form from Francis Ford Coppola's "Bram Stoker's Dracula".
Twin Peaks was a huge hit during its first season...
Speaking of the Fox TV show Werewolf, MAN i loved that show as a kid! Now if only you could do a Good Bad Shows or something for it. lol
Would "deep rising" count as a GoodBadFlick?
John Manning yes totally!!! Hopefully he takes requests.
Considering it was awesome but the critics hated it, yes, so much yes.
I've always thought "Up The Creek" and Fraternity Vacation " were GBF material.
+amstel 54 Those are some really great suggestions, man. Another movie I'd kinda want Cecil to check out is that "Near Dark", at least for his "exploring" series.

you never know when another House is going to arrive!
I really liked this one.

There's a fucking bigfoot type monster firing a crossbow in this movie, and he's disarmed by a dwarf with a whip. I don't think I'll ever be able to watch movies again.
Sherilyn Fenn was also in Just one of the Guys.
