HOW TO REPLACE RV BATTERY | RENOGY 200ah AGM UPGRADE

  • Learn how to replace your RV house battery. We are upgrading our battery to the Renogy 200ah AGM battery. RV Life and full time RVing requires power. Particularly if you want to do some boondocking (off grid camping). We have been getting by with our 100ah Flooded Lead Acid battery, but it's time for an upgrade. We are doubling our available battery power with this change. This is one of the easiest upgrades you can do for your RV, and we'll show you the process step by step.

    I will look for your follow up video, did you make it yet? I also have a 100ah battery, just ordered my 12 v fridge. I do however have solar. Like you it's just my fridge and a little lights. I really like this battery. Its my next upgrade so will be interested in your follow up video on how it performs with boondocking.

      We have been very happy so far with the battery. We put the 12v fridge on night mode overnight when boondocking and we're careful with our lights, fans, radio etc. We usually get up in the morning with about 70-80% battery remaining which we're very happy with. It's much better than the original 100ah battery that we replaced. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!!! We appreciate it so much 🙏 ❤️

    I suppose there is a reason to not upgrade to Lithium, but I don't know of any.

      For us, we don't do enough off grid camping to justify the extra costs of lithium batteries, and compatible charge controller. Thanks so much for watching!

    AGM is really not the way to go in today’s world!
    They are overrated! Stick with deep cycle flooded or go to Lithium. A quality flooded battery will last a long time with proper maintenance. AGM can’t be maintained, and are way more intolerant of abuse.
    I would do Lithium as a house, but it does require a few modifications.

      For us the AGM was a better choice over flooded because of the lack of maintenance required. They also recharge at a much faster rate than flooded so less time to run the generator off grid. And we just don't do enough boondocking to justify the extra cost of lithium. The important thing is to consider the type of camping that you want to do and get the right type for your needs. We just couldn't justify the extra costs of lithium. Thanks for watching!!!

      Randolph to each their own I went the same way for maintenance free. Before knocking the renogy agm have you done research? You mention deep cycle these are true deep cycle, and for the cost of 4 6v deep cycle fla you could do 4 of these in parallel with more amp hour storage.

      @@greatsurfer17 the problem with AGM is that they are more sensitive to poor charging, and can’t be equalized readily. They just won’t last as long in most applications, and don’t tolerate deep discharges. That lack of maintenance requirement sounds good, but it means that they also can’t be reconditioned. In the end Lithium is now almost as cheap as AGM, and has much more power per pound, and a longer life. If cost is the limiting factor, flooded batteries are the best bet, not AGM.

      You're wrong dude. Not even close. AGM batteries may be heavier and you do need to charge them a certain way but they last longer and can take more abuse than a flooded battery. Lithium batteries are good but you have to swap out your house charging system before you can use them. They aren't plug and play. So if you got the cash great. If you don't AGM batteries are far better than flooded.

      @@tomasn3666 Do some research, a quality flooded battery, that is maintained regularly will outlast an AGM. Rolls flooded batteries typically last 10-15 years!. It is true that most users don’t maintain their batteries, and cheap flooded batteries don’t last. However, it is possible to revive a quality flooded battery, whereas an AGM that is damaged is not revivable. To maintain a flooded battery, regular equalization must be performed, and specific gravity and water levels must be monitored. AGMs are more sensitive to poor charging and discharging, and can’t be revived.
      Lithium is now the same price as AGM, and that was my point. AGMs are not nearly as good as Lithium, and are worse than a quality wet cell battery.
      I have had lots of failures from “quality” AGMs
