I'm not a fan of Musicals at all but that episode left me snorting and bursting with laughter over and over again. Just hilarious. It's so cringy yet awesome. And let's be honest, Spock, Uhura and La'an all have surprisingly pleasant singing voices.
I loved it. I have all the love for TOS but let's be frank - we've had some pretty corny stuff with TOS (& yes, it can be charming to cringe) But like what we saw with BtVS when they did 'Once more with feeling' if you get the right circumstances & story, it can work. And for me, this totally worked.
@@lsgPH Sure they can. But these are desperate tricks, the kind a show usually resorts to after about five years. Not two seasons. And abbreviated seasons, at that. This is not Star Trek.
@@trhansen3244 And who exactly are you to say that this is not Star trek? Just because it was musical? Just because it's not your usual so serious and complicated episodes? Because star trek should just remain it's old format and fade away again? This is not YOUR old star trek. This is basically new generation. This is not Picard, Jane way, And captain Kirk. This isn't 80's-90's star trek. Move on!
@@lsgPH It's new only to those who have never watched tv. To you this is new. To me this is the act of a desperate show without any real imagination whatsoever. It's woke, which means it is the worst. There is nothing worse than woke. It has nothing to do with the time it is made. Only to those with limited minds. No offense.
Musicals aren’t really my cup of tea but I applaud them for trying something different (and difficult). Some stuff landed, some (Klingon bit) was cringy. Really liked some of the character development. And they’re moving pieces on the chess board so to speak with Chapel/Korby and Kirk/Carol.
Although this isn't really the Star Trek I loved anymore, it's at least something new and different with some humor and way less annoying characters. A lot better than Discovery for sure! Burnham would've probably cried through the the whole singing scene and made it all about her and her feelings again.
The franchise that brought us an episode where Spock lost his brain, Kirk got amnesia and knocked up a Native American, space hippies, TNG crew as Robin Hood, Voyager when the helmsman and captain both evolve into lizards and have lizard babies…. I could go on because there are more examples but suffice to say yep, Star Trek prior to the modern era never had an bad/weird/cringy episodes.
@@Jimmer93 they made William Shatner pretend he was horse. And you think this is a whole new level? I love TOS but with some exceptions most of season three is cringe inducing and basically was for the actors too. Shoot the best Kirk speech ever, “Risk is our business”, comes from an otherwise god awful episode. I’m not a musical guy but I give them credit for trying something different. As thoughtful, progressive and allegorical as Trek has been, it’s also had its share of silly and camp. Hell the biggest (and correct) knock on new Trek starting with Discovery was that it’s “too dark”. Then you get a series like SNW and now it’s not serious enough. At some point it’s logical to assume some people won’t be pleased with anything.
THEY PLAYED THE CLASSIC THEME!!!!!!!
Oh, the Mr. Sulu show, Sulu he star of the show, other guys just along for the ride

Great episode, well thought out, executed, they pushed the envelope and knocked it out of the park
This episode is indeed "Strange" and "New"

Uhura has a Grammy. She and La'an are professional singers
Paul Wesley singing will always be my fav thing in the whole world
This episode was amazing! I loved the songs, especially the finale!

I had an awful day today at work, and after watching this, I’m happy as everything😄😄😄.
Great job. Loved the song.
THE FUCKING CLAESIC THEME FROM TOS OPENING CREDITS.
FUCK YESSSS. WE NEED TO PETITION FOR THIS AS THE END CREDITS THEME

lol the Klingon part cracked me up
Bruh the Klingon singing part was hilarious lol
That Kpop is stuck in my head now. 😂
Mate, the klingon bit was the best part because it was cringy. I fell out of my chair laughing.
I loooooooved the klingon bit. perfection
Reminds me of the old BUFFY: THE MUSICAL Episode where everyone started singing.
Notice how Kirk (Jim, not Sam) *also* sang the words “crew of the Enterprise” in reference to himself
He knew
I bet thats why he keeps coming back.
Kirk got a taste of the Enterprise and now he's hooked!
Can we just talk about how the 3 klingon d7's got evaporated lol
They weren't 😊
The TOS theme fits perfectly as a end to a musical...
0:12 I lose it when I saw the Enterprise space dancing with the Klingon D7.
You too? The best part
Can you imagine the looks on the Klingon helmsmens' faces when they can't stop themselves?! 🤣
@@abstractedawayI can imagine them thinking: “Oh for Kahless! Just end this dishonor already! We don’t want to end in the Gre’tor like this!”

While I was not looking forard to this episode, it really wasn't as bad as I anticipated.
It feels like a pantomime but a space one 0:37
Happy for nurse chapel but also upset with her she and spock was cute together but I also understand that's not how his story goes 😢
My only disappointment was that one of the Klingon ships didn't hail back with Michael Dorn singing.
1:02 I’m blocking you on my Facebook.
No more " Cringy" than some of the scenes from the original show. I am always curious what is next with this show.
Super fun episode. I'm not a big fan of musicals, but this was great
