That was a really great story! Well done! You know, I honestly didn’t expect Peter to get rid of the black suit in this what if. I mean with the way you were setting it up, having the Symbiote protect Spider-Man from Harry whilst restraining itself from straight up killing him seemed to show real growth from the Symbiote as a a character, who before would have likely ended Harry without much hesitation for threatening it’s host. If put in the same situation before Spider-Man and the Symbiote had come to an ‘’agreement’’. This to me showed that there truly was a growing bond and understanding between it and Spider-Man in this scenario, and that although shown in a very subtle way, it was trying to live up to what it felt Spider-Man needed it to be as an extension of himself. I was basically under the impression that the lesson that Doc Ock was going to learn from Spider-Man by the end was going to be about not letting his arms corrupt his mind the way the Symbiote almost did to Spider-Man, but instead controlling his new abilities and using them to do the good that he’d always strived to do for mankind. This of course mirroring Spider-Man’s journey throughout the story and allowing Peter to understand that the Symbiote needs guidance as well. This finally allowing Peter to view it as it’s own being and a friend, rather than just a potential threat and a tool for good in the way that he did in cannon. This... at least in my eyes would have led to Spider-Man keeping the black suit, and due to his newfound respect for the Symbiote he’d be able to bond with it fully and retain control while using it, having a similar relationship with it to that of Eddie Brock at the end of Venom. This would allow him to begin getting his life back on track, whilst slowly helping the Symbiote learn to use it’s great power with the great responsibility that Spider-Man believes in. That’s just how I perceived it anyway 😊
I honestly thought that this is how it would of ended ... You could also say that the spiderman switched suits depending on the situation as the symbiote drains peters stamina quickly and shows that Peter learned to use the right amount of power for the right job.
Thats why the ending sucks. it always ends with the symbiote hating parker for rejecting it and viewing it as a monster thus creating venom because parker ruined the life of the symbiote and Eddie Brock. Like in the green goblin team up what if, spiderman was viewed as a masked menance, so why not give them something to truely fear? Better to be feared then loved, if you cannot be both."
THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING! Peter shouldn't just automatically go to *rip the suit off* he should learn to use the suit, to control the suit and I'm glad someone finally wrote a fan fic about it.
I still would've preferred if Pete and Venom went to a compromise especially with what we learned of the Venom symbiote specifically in 616 Pete and Venom could've been decent partners with Pete teaching Venom about responsibility that having power isn't always necessary it's how you used that power since the symbiotes usually learn morals from their hosts
I think this was a top notch retelling, aside from some small tweaks I would change I think the AI did an impressive job for that first half, and you made a very satisfying second half- until you killed the symbiote. Full disclosure, I understand the black suit and it's underlying message and symbolism about addiction and power. However, in this story, I feel like it was a metaphor for Peter accepting his pain and anger, finding his balance between power and responsibility, only here he found it as Spider-Man instead of Peter Parker.I feel you backtracked with Peter betraying the symbiote, because that was betrayal. The scene where the black suit shook hands with the red suit was excellent, and Peter at that moment accomplished something every other Spider-Man seems to fail with: finding a balance with the symbiote. Peter controlled the symbiote, not the other way around. I would have ended it with Peter giving himself the red costume look, but black replacing the blue, a symbol that while Venom was still there, Spider-Man was keeping it in check. Maybe instead of being present at the wedding as Peter, he watches from afar as Spider-Man, leaving when MJ seems to notice him, swinging away. Insert crane scene, and there you go. To be clear, I 100% respect your take, I just tire of Black suit stories that seemed to only end in the suit killing Peter, or Peter going 100% AWOL bad, and or getting rid of it.

I love this version of Spider-Man 2 and it would’ve set up Spider-Man 3 way better IMO and we possibly have a way better conclusion to the trilogy (even though I think 3 had a great ending to it even though it wasn’t the best of the 3). However 2 things I dislike with this version is getting rid of the scene where all the people grab Spider-Man before he falls, and the overuse of flashbacks. There’s nothing wrong with flashbacks but I think it could be toned down a bit. And getting rid of the scene where they carry him in is so powerful. But still a great variation of the movie. Love this

In the weirdest way I feel like this would’ve tied in for a great storyline if they did this in the first series. Like if they started a relationship in Spider-Man 3 between Peter and Gwen Stacy when he saved her in the crane scene. Also Sandman will be the main villain for that movie and perhaps venom is still around because Peter gave some of the alien to doctor conners. That could mean that somehow maybe eventually the Symbiote could find its way to Eddie Brock. And then later on if not in the third movie Harry could team up with sandman to still get revenge. Eventhough doctor octopus is in prison, he’ll be around to form the sinister six. So this storyline should’ve been the move for marvel. But instead we got the reboot. 😔

The Symbiote and Peter making peace to work together was a real nice touch, like when Flash Thompson dawn the suit to be Agent Venom. Changing it's crazy, angered nature from Wade, Peter and Eddie. I always prefer Black Suit Spider-Man, as the costume looks cool. Whether it be, with the symbiote or just a plain costume. Edit: Shame he didn't keep it, but hey, this was still a really good story

There’s nothing wrong with flashbacks but I think it could be toned down a bit. And getting rid of the scene where they carry him in is so powerful. But still a great variation of the movie. In the weirdest way I feel like this would’ve tied in for a great storyline if they did this in the first series. Like if they started a relationship in Spider-Man 3 between Peter and Gwen Stacy when he saved her in the crane scene. Also Sandman will be the main villain for that movie and perhaps venom is still around because Peter gave some of the alien to doctor conners. That could mean that somehow maybe eventually the Symbiote could find its way to Eddie Brock. And then later on if not in the third movie Harry could team up with sandman to still get revenge. Eventhough doctor octopus is in prison, he’ll be around to form the sinister six. So this storyline should’ve been the move for marvel. But instead we got the reboot. 😔

I think you just made an even Better version of Spider-Man 2 than the original....I never knew until now how PERFECT the Symbiote would've been in the movie prior to its original movie debut! The Symbiote and Peter making peace to work together was a real nice touch, like when Flash Thompson dawn the suit to be Agent Venom. Changing it's crazy, angered nature from Wade, Peter and Eddie. I always prefer Black Suit Spider-Man, as the costume looks cool. Whether it be, with the symbiote or just a plain costume.
Edit: Shame he didn't keep it, but hey, this was still a really good story
