I wish there was a case that included doing 1000 normal mode kills, then switching to hardmode until the title finishes since it would better reflect how players normally do GWD1 bosses. Obviously, normal players wouldn't switch to hardmode at 1000 if they already got the pet and normal players would switch back to normal mode immediately after getting the pet, but that wouldn't affect the total kill count for your calculation since normal mode and hard mode have the same drop rates for the rares. This would mean you wouldn't easily be able to track the true correct value of the normal drops, but I think it would offer a more representative value of kills for the collection log completion. doing all hard mode kills isn't something people do, and it skews the total kills since each kill sub 1000 kc would have hard mode drop rates for pet, where as most people would camp the normal mode for at least 1 threshold, offering usually a majority of the items for the title, then they work on hard mode for better pet chance after getting 1 thresh if they hadnt gotten it yet.
You are absolutely right, I'm going to write this down and I may do a video on all of gwd1 with this tactic at some point. However most people, especially when unexperienced, will do lots of kills with a party of other players. If I'm correct only the player with the most damage dealt has a chance at the drop, which also skews with the total killcount. But anyways, thanks for the feedback! 😉
