I think a case can be made that she delivers a fuller sound with more character on Adele and Lana Del Ray covers when all three are using similar modern equipment. I think it's obvious that she's reading the lyrics as she's singing this. (Read them as you listen to it, and I think you'll agree.) We have so many examples of her doing that at the same time she delivers a "vocally perfect" performance (i.e., perfect in terms of _how_ she's singing rather than _what_ she's singing) - and yet, this is on a whole 'nother level. It's positively _uncanny_ how well she nails the "feeling" of the vocal. I feel like this song might have the highest density of "vocal landmarks" per line of any song she's sung (I don't know how to describe it, really, but I mean specific moments where she has to "do very specific things" vocally, to make the song sound right - but maybe I only get that impression because she's doing things here that she doesn't normally do). Anyway, she handles all those "landmarks" perfectly, even as she struggles a bit with some of the lyrics. I mean… just listen to all the things she's doing in just the first few lines of the song: you could probably take five minutes trying to explain all of it in detail. And it just never lets up through the whole thing, to the end. It's *crazy* …
It doesn't matter the genre she decides to apply her vocals to, the result is always excellence of the highest order. Pop, Blues, Jazz, Soul.........it doesn't matter! Angelina was born in 2006 and you said in your intro this performance was from 2016, so she was 10. If you played this performance for 100 people who had never heard it before, then most would likely say it was Gloria Gaynor singing. If they said it was someone doing a cover, then ask them how old the singer is, no one would guess under the age of 20.

It is probably always a mistake to say the sound quality back when (anytime after the 60's especially) was not as good as now. What has happened to all these old performances is numerous transfers and then when cds' came along they were compressed crap in the early days. And after the Universal fire, a lot of artists will never have the chance of getting back to high fidelity of the original recording...
