The only thing the writers really did was brush it (the stalking) under the rug never really did anything with it other than have Alya make fun of her with the ball episode by mentioning how Marinette should know everything about Adrien
@dangerbuffrocky it’s a little unreasonable. Adrien hasn’t shown that he is that kind of person. If this relationship was longer than a few weeks or a few months then yes I would understand but it’s not. All it came off Marinette being obsessed and causing problems that weren’t even there. Originally people thought that Sublime was secretly into Adrien but that wasn’t the case. Also I didn’t say that Marinette doesn’t have a right to be a bit concerned about any girl being ‘in love’ with Adrien but she has taken it too far. Marinette has decided to stalk someone that’s getting close to her boyfriend who obviously has no romantic feelings for Adrien as well as Adrien for her (sublime).
Its genuinely hilarious that LB is immune to the power bcs "she's already the best version of herself". Like, the entire episode is literally anything but Marinette being the best version of herself, unless this is the writer's definition of "best", then they sure need to learn a lot of things about teenagers
@@KaraGrimesS Lady bug is the best version of Marinette, it is pretty logical. However, Cat Noir isn't the best version of Adrien. It's Adrien who is the best versio of Cat Noir because perfect Adrien is just a mask. For me, the problem is here.
Sublime's character was genuinely enjoyable, she was so mature and I'm impressed she didn't become a Akumatization. As annoying as the stalker antics are, I actually like they treated it as a genuine issue with Marinette that resulted her getting called out by even Lucky Charm. Like maybe it's the animation adding to the antics, but I was genuinely laughing throughout all of it.
I like how Ladybug actually struggled against the villain, Cat Noir was decently competent, and Marinate is finally being called out for her stalker tendencies in this episode.
I just hope they start to focus on the other like 20 underdeveloped characters instead of introducing a new character. I do like Sublime and the representation, but she is just so boring! Reminds me of Zoé and Kagami. If they make the season more like season 1 again at least give the other characters some spotlight and how they feel as heroes. Or on Adrien, how he, you knew, has to live without parents??? And maybe Felix, how he is now part of the team. I hope this will come in the next episodes.
I love Sublime's personality and all, but like Zoe, she too seems to be created for the sole purpose of being "Chloe if she were nice", with the twist that she too was the daughter of a mayor. Thomas is not fooling anybody. She also reminds me a lot of Kagami, except her mother is more reasonable than Tomoe. However, the end of the episode showing them actually partnering with Tomoe as a sponsor might do something unexpected but we'll have to see.
1:48 Of course she's perfect at everything. That's basically how characters are written in this show, they are either borderline perfect at the stuff they do and have no real personality flaws, or are completely insane.
i liked the episode a bit but i think sublime shouldn’t have accepted her apology cause she did show discomfort earlier in the episode and i think their relationship could actually develop better that way. i know she had good intentions but stalking is stalking & very creepy. the fact that ladybug was the villain of the episode was very nice but it could have been executed better ( imo the mirror should have been used to point at marinette, who stalked sublime, rathet than ladybug who interrupted the scouting, cause we all know which one’s worse… ) i love sublime tho shes very cute
It would've made more sense if Sublime mistook Marinette's "awkwardness" as her being neurodivergent and as a fellow person with disability she didn't want to dismiss her that quickly. (Literally why tf does the stalking shenanigans still exist tho istg)
@samuelcaloracan abandoned key word is abandoned. The writers never really resolved this main issue with Marinette. The best way for Marinette to really grow is seek some professional help to resolve her stalker issues.
I hated Marinette in this episode. And no. Her apology doesn’t fix what she did! Not everyone is going to want to be your friend Marinette! Learn that! And to add on to this. You can still be friendly with a person even if you aren’t friends with them. However. If you start making them uncomfortable after they’ve told you to stop. Then they have every right to tell you to back off!
@@joeleboeuf to me, that’s what makes a Mary Sue a Mary Sue. She has plot armor to escape consequences and her behavior is treated as okay. But that’s just my opinion.
Honestly I think the lucky charm is a really good piece of writing. In the wake of the London Special, the fact that the lucky charm considered Ladybug the true villain of this episode further shows how her own actions can have serious consequences. I'm still cautiously optimistic about the writing in this season, so I hope that we'll see more instances like this in future episodes, to make Marinette more and more uncertain of herself
Overall it was an ok ep.I kinda feel bad for Adrien, his girlfriend doesn't seem to enjoy the time with him. Sublime is also cool, but i have a problem to connect with these overly perfect and nice characters. Mlb seems to like this archatype(Zoe, Sublime, Adrien outside of being cat, Kagami). But to fully judge her i need to see her full arc. And she adds great disabled representation.
Nah if a guy was doing this to his girlfriend he would automatically be labeled as a creep, controlling and toxic but I guess when a girlfriend dose it to her boyfriend it’s cute and quirky I can’t the DOUBLE STANDARDS
@@xdustyx2982 No, they show Chloe as an example of double standards in the show in general - how Chloe is treated for her actions against Marinette for example.
@@Kakuyawolf3456 Chloe didnt stalk anyone and genuinly if flawed was there for Adrien. Marinette didnt hate Chloe for being a freiend, she hated her for being near Adrien. And Chloe has too much selfrespect to be that jealous.
@@wellidontknow1941yeah like I get we did get a bit of a time skip like maybe a few months. But as someone who lost a parent it took me many months to get better. In the special he did cry & got mad at Ladybug so I do hope they make Adrien turn on her when he finds out the truth
they are tryna make us forget about plagg bro also why is everything about marinette, there are so many characters. Adrien is an Orphan now , give him time on screen
@@Azzymycat1234 no she’s still alive. The London special revealed Gabriel’s wish. His wish was to give up his life to save Nathalie and in the season 5 finale epilogue we can she her in a lounge chair relaxing while everyone else is playing
Last seasons: with every one made Adrien less and less matter, to the point when in great finale he just show as "prize". Current season - not only that but propably took as much time from best kwami as can🐢🐢🐢
Let's be real. She never really learned her lesson due to having no negative cosequences for her actions in the past seasons, so it kinda makes since why she never stopped stalking. It's annoying, but that’s just how the writers are for some reason. However, I think this'll be the last of the stalking. Sublime was clearly annoyed, and I think Marinette got the message by the end of the episode. It's annoying that it took this long, but I think (I hope) the stalking is over. And side note, The scene with Ladybug and Cat Noir saying that they're already perfect is giving Thomas Astruc writing.😂
If that were the case, Sublime shouldn’t be friends with Marinette. Not everyone has to be friends with her and it doesn’t make them bad for not liking her. She must learn that. Especially when they have very valid reasons not to. And stalking them is that reason. It’s not “unique”, it’s creepy. And it can give people the impression that there are ulterior motives.
I like Sublime and and so excited for her development as characters Marinette did cross the line but at least the series acknowledged she did something wrong for once
Sublime absloutly trouncing Marinnette's plans every time aside the breaking of the leg blade was really funny. I think the breaking of the running blade is an attempt to fit a block thorugh the wrong hole, they wanted Marinette to be responsable for causing some sort of damage to Sublime but couldn't find a way due to Sublime previously shutting down the previous attempts of savior complex from Marinette without any effort so they written them selves into a corner and had to break the reality of the running blade's endurance to get out of it.
I love Marinette but what she did to Sublimes legs was unforgivable. Whether it’s because of the soap or her interrupting the trial, had Marinette not stalked at all this wouldn’t have happened. I hope moving forward she will stop but who am I kidding, she won’t🤦🏾♂️
I'm pretty sure the reason her prosthetic legs broke it's because they had gotten soap in them from marinette's weird actions earlier. We see droplets of soapy water come out of the moments before they break. So basically it was all marinette's fault
“Isn’t this the same building everyone went to school in?” I think it’s a different school. Cause remember the principal got fired, and they had to go apply different schools, I think.
15:30 actually, it only reversed because ladybug was the "villain" all along, and when she realized it and the villain was "gone" then all the damage caused by her was reversed.
Fun fact : 1.Chrysalis give massage shoulders 😂to this Akumatized villain 2. Sublime has 4 different hairstyles ( wish they did the same to Adrien's clothes)
@@Nerdonardo-1 And Marinette which wears the same clothes every time is so-called fashion designer, she has nothing to do with fashion, she is not even girly.
As much as I’d didn’t like the fact that she got her stalker mode again, I’m glad to see how the Lucky Charm called her out on it. 😅 As for Sublime, I like her and the representation of her being a para-athlete, but she could use some more depth to her. 😊
If they're still going the 'Marinette is stalking everyone' route then I think they should double down on this and make a point in the narrative to highlight how being the guardian makes her suffer in her normal life, because when she's a superhero she always has to assume the worst will happen to protect herself. And it would be hard to separate that mindset from when you're trying to live a normal life. I feel like they should eventually confront her about how weird she's being, and that she has the realisation that being Guardian is it literally consuming her and she starts to take, a small step back. This would allow Chat Noir to get his fill of screen time, and I feel like it would be interesting to have him leading missions and to have Adrian in general try to solve SOMETHING instead of it all being on Marinette. Like the do you tried once failed and never did it again, and in the realities he found out by accident he ended up destroying the world. Having Adrian try to get a grip, and try to rationalise Solutions will hopefully get him to realise that he's so far behind in knowledge. Because at this point it should be called, Miraculous Ladybug: Tales of Ladybug and Rena Rouge. LET CHAT NOIR CATCH UP WITH THE MIRACULOUS KNOWLEDGE AND LET HIM GET MORE SCREENTIME, BECAUSE KEEPING HIM CLUELESS LITERALLY COULD END THERE WORLD.
Damn if only they had a competent writing team to execute that idea of yours, but nope the stalking will be treated as "slapstick" at best and "kooky" at worst
@dandrecollier800 I genuinely think/hope that they might head in similar direction, because this is the first and only time that they've ever really called Marinette out on her stalker tendencies. And it's to the point where even Alya is becoming disappointed, frustrated and a bit concerned. So I'm just hoping that later on in the season or even in the next season if there is one that the firmly address the big elephant in the room, and it'll lead to her almost getting her identity revealed. Like her structure of secrecy will collapse from the inside because she's so upset with trying to make sure everything works out she fails to see the point in which it becomes creepy
@yasY0L0 also if this is a "kids" show aren't they teaching young impressionable girls that stalking your man and making an absolute buffoon of yourself cause you can't trust your boyfriend at all and NEED to be friends with everyone is a good thing? That's a rather horrific lesson to teach
@@dandrecollier800 that's why I think they're going to be like, "actually mental health is important, sometimes you need to step away from your psychotic tendencies and my other people take over your responsibilities for you to recover. Marinette example of this as we turn a stalker into a superstar" But I feel like at this point they've realised that they mean demographic is no longer children. They messed up by making this a kid show, the original concept was for this to be an anime and I would have argued it would have been a better concept despite the difficulties because there would have been less fellow and a more complex narrative as animes for a much older audience. They got to about halfway through Season 4 and realised that the main people watching this I'm not part of the target audience, and have been slowly trying to make the narrative and the Show as a whole more complex but a failing because of the plot holes they left behind
@yasY0L0 can you explain the part when you say that "They realized that the mean demographic is no longer children" I came into this fandom lady year so I haven't seen all the older episodes. Mainly season five and the London special
what i absolutely hate is how they keep portraying parents badly especially when most of them are just trying to get their kids to be the best they can knowing very well their capabilities ,sublime's mother was not being harsh but was trying her a confidence boost she at that moment did not need to be told its ok to fail or whatever but instead told she can do it and she will if look closely she was nervous and fearful . Not to mention during her akumatization she praised sublime wishing others were like her daughter so yes i dont mean tomoe or or gabriel but sublime mother really just wants what's best for her daughter soo yeah thats my rant
@Kakuyawolf3456 she maybe strict but she's way better than Audrey or tomorrow and and cares for her daughter because unlike Yagami Cloe or Adrian she needs to work hard for her future and does not have connections
I mean, wasn't that the purpose of Derision? To give her a retcon-trauma for her to get over it and have confidence in herself? Or even the writers themselves think that episode is bad and prefer to ignore it.
16:08 the person here is also wearing a very similar outfit to the girl you pointed out. It’s highly plausible it’s the same person and really adds to Lila being everywhere whilst remaining unseen at large
I think the main thing is we are only 2 episodes in and missing the context of the first one. I'd really like an actual explanation to why Marinette has sort of regressed, we can speculate and give our own explanations but I want to know the in-universe one. If lots of other episodes do show more of Marinette being like the end of season 5, addressing her guilt and such, then I can enjoy these episodes more. But if most of the season is like this it is quite the whiplash. I enjoy the more light hearted shenanigans, especially with how the new animation leans more into the cartoony side of things, but I can't forget where this is coming off from. Overall I think people are tending to jump the gun a bit with all the panic/hate/disappointment I see online.
same but i think (or hope) that this season will kinda be like season 1 with the backstory explanation after the end of s5 in the later episodes or finale cause we need an explanation on what happened!!! why is adrien okay again didnt his dad die???
@realradiantrei Same! We know there is am Adrien centred episode coming up at least so hopefully there will be some more Adrien things throughout the season 🙏.
I think the power made sense as to why it didn’t affect the heroes. I imagine it’s more of a mental thing that can turn people into what they believe is the best version of themselves. Perhaps the dad deep down believed he could’ve been a better father which is why he was affected. Chat Noir was already confident but Ladybug at first wasn’t and I think if she was hit before CN gave her that pep talk she would’ve been affected. But because he restored her confidence in her own ability and believed that she was as good as a ladybug as she could be at that moment she wasn’t affected anymore.
Agree that's how I understood it as well I mean I thought they tried showing that with the other few people that were hit by sublimation before ladybug and chat noir
My main problem with this episode is the lesson marinnete is supposed to learn. She says that the lucky charm can't fix the damage because the villain didn't do anything, but then uses it up anyway to repair the prosthetic legs that SHE broke, when the villain wasn't there yet. It would have been a much more interesting plot line if the legs weren't repaired and ladybug helped sublime build a new pair (even using a superhero power buddy). Because in the end, what did Ladybug learn from this? "Oh no, I made a mistake and I can't fix it with my superpowers- no wait, miraculous ladybugs suddenly did it for me yay"
@@thanos4769 And maybe have Sublime not forgive Marinette which would show she isn’t someone who can just be pushed over because Marinette cried a bit and give her a little more edge.
I remember an explanation for lucky charm in London special - it repairs the damage done by a specific villain, and since marinette is the villain it have repaired her doings. I do agree that this is BULLSHIT - I literally started raging while watching the episode when prosthetics got fixed
@@wellidontknow1941yeah that was convenient for her to have the realization of being the villain of the episode only for the purpose of her repairing damage done by her. Without getting any of the consequences or further character development. It's just there to create the ultimate Mary Sue powers (actually, I'm kinda impressed how they constructed maybe the most Mary Sue powers known to humankind )
@@theanansi4270 yea, gotta love how despite narrative presenting her as a villain writers still snuck in the “but guys she’s doing her best just like sublime uwu don’t judge her🥺🥺”
My favorite part of the episode was Aliya and Tiki trying to talk Marinette sense into them, it’s very refreshing and it makes the whole episode a bit more realistic… eh, besides Sublime.
They casually just ruined Marinette's character development for the past 6 seasons. Her and Adrian's relationship shouldn't even be "new" at this point. What happened to the season 5 epilogue?
14:49 you missed the mark here. Sublimation makes people BETTER versions of themselves, not PERFECT. Because for humans, there's no such thing as perfection. People make mistakes, and will continue to no matter how much they improve. It's how you move past them and address them that makes you the best version of yourself.
This was the worst episode of this season so far, I'm surprised that Adrien has quite normalized Marinette's horrible behaviors. She uses her powers in a rather irresponsible way, Tikki looks like she's fed up about her and even Lucky Charm tells her that she's the problem. The little development she had went to garbage, in Protection she had learned not to do those things but here she forgot it just because. She is literally the Marinette of season 1 but worse, so annoying and stalker. Do the writers or Thomas himself find this funny or think it's okay for her to do these things or why do they write this? It's a shame that this animation is being wasted on these garbage scripts. And I find it hard to believe that there are still people who defend her and say the excuse that she's a teenager or she's traumatized because of Gabriel, those are already pretty absurd excuse.
Honestly...I just want adrien to have friends that don't shift their focus to being friends with marinette. I live her dearly but everyone tends to focus on her feelings first....I just want adrien to have other friends! Though honestly mari at least isn't actively trying to sabotage people now right?
I mean...she at least has learned friendships a better route than sabotage or being mean...even kf she hasn't really learned to adjust her methods. Makes me think of when she thought of sabotaging adrien's angel wings to get a chance to hang out with him again.....not at all a good plan...but she never actually faced why that was bad. I mean kagami forgave her last time and adrien ks understanding of mari being weird and likes ger anyway(even if he doesn't knkw about the creepier stuff she's done). So I actually get why mari hasn't actually learned her lesson. Honestly thou g I thought sublime was Zoey for a bit.
The full episode I was literally shaking my head, facepalming, and going "I can't wait for Smarty Pants to review this 😂" While the jokes are good we're back at the cringe 🤦🏻♀️
I have some thoughts that they're intending to show her getting worse so they can build her back up. But... as with most good ideas they have, if I'm right, they're doing it sloppily and with little transition. And don't get me wrong she never really stopped being a stalker. BUT in terms of her backsliding it's less of a backslide and more of the same with her flip-flopping between seasonal vibes and the reaction to the episodes really drive this home.
"Why is Marinette back to being a stalker?" Probably cause it's more satisfying to have it addressed, rather than handwaved? That's what this episode was clearly going for. (Admittedly, her being immune to Sublimation's powers doesn't exactly support the message). Pretty unfair to give a sarcastic gasp at the revelation that she's the villain, when people have always complained that the show doesn't address Marinette being at fault. (I don't even mind the "stalkerish" tendencies. It's a cartoon, she can have a cartoonish flaw) As for how the lucky charm fixed the blades, I'd assume it's because the lucky charm fixes the damage done by "the villain", which in this case was Ladybug herself (Or rather Marinette, eroding the blades with her soap shenanigans).
Sublime looking uncomfortable: How..Unique! You can just tell she wanted to say creepy. But was sparing Adrien’s feelings. Even though I would’ve definitely said. Your girlfriend is stalking you?! How are you okay with that?!
This was literally my least favorite episode of the whole franchise. It’s sort of funny considering how Illustrhater is now my favorite episode out of the whole franchise. The fact that Marinette broke her prosthetics because she thought she was in love with Adrien or something like that is actually insane to me. Technically there was more that but that was basically what happened. Stalkernette is just…not it. Also I don’t know if it’s just me but the EXTRA CRAZY goofiness like the running on the wall, running with a WHOLE PLANT, and the weird tiptoeing is quite weird to me. I’m not a fan, like, I can take the Illustrhater silliness but this was too much for me. This was just not a good episode.
The other thing that's confusing from last episode is, how does Marinette not know how to be in a relationship and show affection? The fact she has to look at other people on how to be affectionate towards Adrien when literally she has great parents as role models to follow is completely backwards.
I agree that they overdid it, that being said since it's Marinette's first true relationship it's the first time she experiences the fear of losing her bf, the fear of someone better to take him away, and Marinette has a hard time dealing with her own emotions. Unlike past seasons, she actually reflected on her actions and was actually made as the bad person, as long as the same situation does not happen again I think it's fine to forgive it, considering it's a new experience for her She does have stalking tendencies but she was always made out to be "right" by her friends, so it makes sense it never got fixed. Hopefully this is the last time
Marinette never got even a slap on the wrist for her weird behavior for it always came good for her in the end. By so called "reverting character development" they actually "facing character negative traits to resolve them by confronting consequences of their actions" Like it should've been, instead of "She acted like a weirdo all time, but she got a boy, and was sad in the London special, so anything else can be ignored". No it's not.
Personally.. i dont think Sublimes mom is that bad. The way she treats her ex-husband is surely not good, as well as putting her daughter at the edge with stress about winning, but honestly i kind of understand her parenting methods and don't see her as the bad guy at least from what we've seen so far. I think for your child to really succeed in life you've gotta be preparing them from young age. You can call me tough, bad future parent, but i know as a child with overprotective and easygoing mom, that picking yourself from ground up in "becoming adult" age is really tough when you're neither disciplined or know how to do all sorts of stuff for independent life, while also lacking bravery for making decisions, self worth and confidence. Wouldn't want my child to go through that
I feel Sublime's parents are the two faces of parents with a handicaped child. The father feels sorry and wants to relieve her from any difficulty (when she's having trouble carrying the bag he wants to help her) while the mom is the harsh side of it, who thinks her child has to do twice as much as others to be equally happy and whom she needs to 'put in shape' before she dies or else there will be nobody to take care of them once she's gone.
6 seasons of miraculous and nothing has changed in Marinette’s character development? I don’t find her stalking and tearing down other girls amusing, I’m actually kind of tired and disappointed that this is still a plot line.
I really freaking hate that they had to bring the stalker bit again. Fine I get you won't redeem Chloe but can't you at least teach the youth that stalking your crush, and even more so your boyfriend, is just weird and actually toxic behavior? Let's make this a teaching moment and try to fix our heroine and stop making me (the weird adult watching this show) cringe so badly every time she has to act like this.
@dangerbuffrocky I think what’s really rubbing people the wrong way is that she’s still rewarded for acting like this. Sublime forgives her immediately after the apology and now they’re friends. If she had a lasting consequence, like Sublime forgave her apology, but asked her to leave her alone and didn’t want to be her friend, that would leave off on a bittersweet note that would make Marinette reflect more. It would be a visible and tangible consequence that would make Marinette think twice about stalking Adrien or people around him again.
I liked how her lucky charm called her out, and truthfully, that's the point of this episode. For Marinette to be called out for her bad habits and make her aware that she needs to work on it. Marinette is always her best as Ladybug, but she still has work to do.
Months ago, I once wrote "New season, new artstyle, same old tired plots." In the video you talked about the first trailer for season 6. My god...I was just kidding about that, I didn't expect them would take it seriously and actually do that. There is nothing original in this episode or that was done better in other episodes. If we're going to have 26 episodes of the same old same old cringe Adrienette but with new coat of paint, we better consider fanfics the new canon.
My theory is Lila akumatized herself to have similar powers as a Chameleon episode. She has the power to look like anyone and also remember everything. That's why she's spying on Marinette and ladybug. Plus would explain the multiple voices since she's technically everyone with her power so would make it difficult to know who the new hawkmoth is.
Although Marinette's behavior got worse and the writers don't want to change it. I very much like that throughout the whole episode, Tikki was genuinely worried how to far gone Marinette has been. Even in Illusthater, Tikki tried to knock some sense into her. With Ladybug's lucky charm becoming a makeup compact with a mirror on it. It's very much telling that either the powers/Tikki is trying to talk to Marinette and telling her straight fowardly that she needs to reflect on herself rather than trying to help people who don't need it. I think even with the Kwagatama (don't know how to spell it), it's very much foreshadowing that Marinette will have a breakdown eventually leading her being akumatized. I think what we're witnessing now is Marinette going down that dark path leading to a probable akumatization. Poor Tikki, she's watching her holder losing herself, while Marinette thinks she's helping, but is only hurting herself more and more.
I understand she just want to be Sublime's friend , i get that like u want to give a good impression to ur new friend, but i think Marinette is just overdoing it and using a wrong method, also can we talk about how the animals look so cute in the new animation
This is off topic but, you guys know there is an episode named "lady chaos" which may be M getting akumatized, well in this ep M was known as the real villain and in illustrhater M gave alya a kwagatama as a precuation in case of M being in trouble ig, so this may be foreshadowing to M being akumatized. However i do think in lady choas if M is akumatized then alya will recieve her miraculous and HOPEFULLY fight alongside chatnoir to defeat lady chaos, tho since this will be an ep where bunnix interferes (that is if this happens) then everything would return back to normal with M still being guardian and ladybug. Also if smthg like this does happen i hope adrien is a bigger part of deevilizing ladybug but he might be a bit less as this may risk the reveal and i dont think they will reveal this season or atleast not mid season maybe in one of the finales
My theory is that this mysterious person appearing in every episode, eg. The hand at the cafe in ep 2 and the person in the stands in ep 3, is actually lila as she calls herself a chameleon so she probably goes to the places where she is akumatizing people in a disguise (possible new power) here she jots down any info she can receive from ladybug, like fighting technique, lucky charm etc.
Do I do agree with a lot of what you said, you cannot call bad character traits bad character writing. It's nice to see them go forward and have other characters realize that her stalking tendencies are not normal. Honestly, I feel like it leads to a better character development with her learning to get over that flaw other than simply writing out something that's been part of her character since season 1
Big agree on this one, it felt really cringey watching most of it. (Least favorite part is the harp string part and Marinette having her mouth open like the fish gaping at Sublime, and the noise coming from her mouth for about 6 seconds. I also hated how she zoomed around with that giant decorative plant thing, esp on the back of her bike). I like your phrasing of calling it "loony tunes" like. That fits the description pretty well. it felt over-the-top silly and toony, and agreed, not funny at all. I wondered if even little kids thought something like that would be funny? Maybe they do, which then made me think to myself "Well, you are a 30 something adult watching a kid's show, what did you expect?" So then I lowered my standards. I instantly thought of you while watching, and knew you wouldn't like it (the silly stalking/cringe part) either hah. The rest was fine, I also loved the part where CatNoir puts Bob in the dumpster right here he belongs. I liked the way Adrien talked about Marinette to Sublime (while M was creepy hiding in the bushes), i thought it was really sweet. I am enjoying that they are now officially together. Here's hoping M can calm down a little and just enjoy it. I still didn't think the Soap villain part was funny, I was still rolling my eyes and just waiting for that part to be over, but I did enjoy the design of her villain outfit (that she somehow scraped together with materials on-hand in mere seconds). I felt bad for Sublime (Also don't like this name but It's obvious her mother named her that for reasons), seeing the harsh mother who clearly has conditioned her daughter to hate the part of herself that is fearful and hesitant (so damaging) was really sad and kind-of hit home for me. I think this will set up Sublime to be a likeable character, which seems to be working well so far, as she seems well received. I immediately think she will get to be a miraculous holder at some point. But which one? I have so much hype for this season, the episodes coming out give me something to look forward to (yes I have a sad life) and your videos as well, thank you Smarty Pants! Have a good week.
Some say Marinette was actually and originally a stalker but never got the time to be one due to her being Ladybug, perhaps that is why she is still like that now.
I want to think that this ridiculous stalking is only going to happen in this specific episode since at the end they adressed the issue, marinette apologized and 'learned' from her mistake
The ending of the episode was really disappointing in my opinion. Sure Marinette realized she was wrong and apologized for it, but Sublime immediately forgave her and became her friend. There’s no lasting consequences to her actions since Sublime immediately forgives her. The show keeps rewarding Marinette for her terrible behavior. She’s stalking people and literally having delusions about what’s happening, and the show keeps rewarding her for it. On top of that, I was extremely disappointed seeing Marinette basically revert back to her season 1 self, all her character development (especially from the London special) is just suddenly gone. On the bright side, the animation is beautiful! But the writing…? 😬
2:08 Exactly 💯 Marinette's the one who doesn't want to listen, and sometimes, you gotta experience some bad feelings to understand why a certain behavior is wrong
I do like what they're doing with Marinettes character. Making her awkward around Adrien and new characters now that she's not stalking Adrien makes sense and it's good that the narrative allows her to do some self-reflection. Is an episode like this long overdue? Absolutely. She should've behaved like that more in "Ikari Gozen", when Marinette and Kagami tried to become friends. Marinette should've learned from that in this episode. Even when she first met Zoey, she knew how to behave well.
This is actually has to be episode 2; in illustrhater when Alya and nino are interviewing the ones akumatized by the new hawk moth they talk to sublime’s mother specifically as a victim. Meaning this episode would have already happened.
deep down most people are barking and throwing tantrums over the new animation just to insecurity signal out that they have been fans of the show since before the animation change, we have those all the time in other fandoms. it's all too pathetic really
What I'd say: both in this and the previous episodes, Marinette's whole character feels closer to season 1 than her in season 5. Like she's taken a big leap backwards in development. I understand that being cringey and making questionable decisions is part of her character, but after all these seasons, you'd really expect some change. I genuinely feel she was more developed in season 5 than she is here. Did the writers forget that? Or did they blank out and thrown all the development so far to trash, as they fought making her like this will be more "entertaining"? And damn, the lucky charm really ROASTED Ladybug "Sublimation wasn't the villain, I was" now that's how you know you REALLY messed up bad. I mean, at this point you can argue the Lucky Charm itself as a power has sort of a consciousness of its own, and it just said "f*** you" 😆
I will keep saying this, I hate how Marinette became friends with Sublime. It reminds me of how she saw originally Kagami as her love rival and wanted to befriend her so she can persuade her to not be in love with Adrien.... Not gonna lie this also reminds me to some degree of the cursed game Yandere Simulator (god, it feels disgusting to even say the name of the game). In that game on the elimination methods involves convincing the rivals to give up on the main love interest by befriending them. Mind you, the playable character over there is meant to represent the yandere archetype. Compare that to what Marinette is doing. And this is considered by Thomas "quirky", "relatable" and "funny". ITS NOT, ITS DOWNRIGHT CREEPY. I love the movie version of Marinette a hundred times more because they got rid of her stalker tendencies. I prefer the musical/dramatic format a thousand times more than... this.
15:04 um in my school vr game a new veriont was introduced called the Omegakuma and it is unstable as fuck (created by Chrysalis and Anerga were The latter gets her Ultrakuma and enchanted it to catastrophic levels to the point that lighting comes out and turn people into uncontrollable villains but once the target is hit Chrysalis gets both the villain and random villains created via its instability)
She's not a stalker, shes just quirky!
- Writers 2025.
😂
lol😂
😅😅😅
I mean, Marianette never showed progress on her stalker tendencies, she just got the boy in the end. Now she will just stalk her competition.
The only thing the writers really did was brush it (the stalking) under the rug never really did anything with it other than have Alya make fun of her with the ball episode by mentioning how Marinette should know everything about Adrien
She wanted to become friends with Sublime to make sure she wasn't the "steal your man" type. I don't think that's unreasonable.
Yeah, this.. god this sucks so much.. she doesn't learn anything
@dangerbuffrockyThat’s still pretty selfish. She could’ve just talked to Adrien or Sublime instead of acting like a lunatic.
Its genuinely hilarious that LB is immune to the power bcs "she's already the best version of herself". Like, the entire episode is literally anything but Marinette being the best version of herself, unless this is the writer's definition of "best", then they sure need to learn a lot of things about teenagers
Perhaps it was the best version of ladybug and not Marinette. But you are right there should always be room for improvement 😊
yep, gotta love how two morals for marinette this ep literally contradict each other😶
My jaw literally dropped at this moment, it was so stupid and illogical and contradictory. This might just be the worst episode of Miraculous ever
Or Marionette is just that *flawed* it overpowered the effect?
She’s just a copy of kagami mixed with Zoe, Miraculous needs expansion on existing characters and not new characters
@@Neverending15yes, you are right

I hope this will come in the next episodes.
i heard in ep 4 the horse hero and the dog sibrina get there own ep.
Don't be ridiculous. This is Miraculous Tales of Marinette & Ladybug.

Of course, as Crocoduel is also an episode of Juleka and Luka...and also Marinette is the center of attention and her crazy friends.
@mayotango1317 LOL couldn't agree more

Don't worry I am confident at least every miraculous holder including Adrien will get some sort of story arc this season
I too can't wait to see what tomoe will be up to this season, since her partner in crime is ☠️☠️☠️

So funny marinette falls into both
i liked the episode a bit but i think sublime shouldn’t have accepted her apology cause she did show discomfort earlier in the episode and i think their relationship could actually develop better that way. i know she had good intentions but stalking is stalking & very creepy. the fact that ladybug was the villain of the episode was very nice but it could have been executed better ( imo the mirror should have been used to point at marinette, who stalked sublime, rathet than ladybug who interrupted the scouting, cause we all know which one’s worse… ) i love sublime tho shes very cute
No Adrien explained it very well.
It would've made more sense if Sublime mistook Marinette's "awkwardness" as her being neurodivergent and as a fellow person with disability she didn't want to dismiss her that quickly. (Literally why tf does the stalking shenanigans still exist tho istg)
Sublime is really cute and beautiful she sounds cute when she said “Do not move and do not follow me”

@@IsmaelCiulla He did say that which makes me wonder if he's known about all of marinette's behavior before dating her and still deciding to do so
Honestly I think the lucky charm is a really good piece of writing.

@@miguelzin8249 Yes. But there are certain places that really confirm it lol
@@miguelzin8249 that’s impossible, Tomas thinks stalking is a quirky personality trait, he wouldn’t present it as a problematic thing

11:47 I think it's cause she walked over the soap which made her prostheses slippery
Yeah it was, they even animated soap bubbles on her blades while she was running
I agree
This episode gave me a good chuckle but killed me on the inside 😂
I love Marinette but what she did to Sublimes legs was unforgivable. Whether it’s because of the soap or her interrupting the trial, had Marinette not stalked at all this wouldn’t have happened. I hope moving forward she will stop but who am I kidding, she won’t🤦🏾♂️
I'm pretty sure the reason her prosthetic legs broke it's because they had gotten soap in them from marinette's weird actions earlier. We see droplets of soapy water come out of the moments before they break. So basically it was all marinette's fault
“Isn’t this the same building everyone went to school in?”
I think it’s a different school. Cause remember the principal got fired, and they had to go apply different schools, I think.
New animation + the new Mayor's eco friendly policies = the same school with a few changes 😊
15:30 actually, it only reversed because ladybug was the "villain" all along, and when she realized it and the villain was "gone" then all the damage caused by her was reversed.

As for Sublime, I like her and the representation of her being a para-athlete, but she could use some more depth to her. 😊
When your own powers call you out on your bs, you know you screwed up.
Never thought we would have a runner-up for the worst parent after Gabriel. Color me impress miraculous writers.
But I feel like at this point they've realised that they mean demographic is no longer children.

Remember, this is the post-wish universe. The old one died. This is a new retcon show.
Oh look, Marinette is still a stalker and Cat Noir lost his powers before even having the chance to use them. It's almost as if nothing has changed.
I believe cat noir will get hit by an antikuma in episode one and that is how he knows that he lost his powers
Ladybug has the power of creation, this is probably just an expansion of her abilities, and I doubt ladybug knows how to build prosthetic legs 😂😂😂
They casually just ruined Marinette's character development for the past 6 seasons. Her and Adrian's relationship shouldn't even be "new" at this point. What happened to the season 5 epilogue?
I Have no idea
You'd think operant conditioning has stopped this behavior.
Marinette seems a bit Flanderized in this ep, but as long as there is development i am ok with it
Just watch any Kagami episode with Marinette try to be her friend. Is more better.
I really like the new animation. This episode was kinda cringy and they need to move on from these old gimmicks again.
14:49 you missed the mark here. Sublimation makes people BETTER versions of themselves, not PERFECT. Because for humans, there's no such thing as perfection. People make mistakes, and will continue to no matter how much they improve. It's how you move past them and address them that makes you the best version of yourself.
Holy potato is that Cole as pfp
@nachosucker2014 yup
I wish they focused on other heroes instead of introducing a new character...
The full episode I was literally shaking my head, facepalming, and going "I can't wait for Smarty Pants to review this 😂"
While the jokes are good we're back at the cringe 🤦🏻♀️
It's a cartoon, she can have a cartoonish flaw)
As for how the lucky charm fixed the blades, I'd assume it's because the lucky charm fixes the damage done by "the villain", which in this case was Ladybug herself (Or rather Marinette, eroding the blades with her soap shenanigans).
The sublimation thing is definitely a mental state, while she may be flawed as marinette, as ladybug she is not
Sublime looking uncomfortable: How..Unique!
You can just tell she wanted to say creepy. But was sparing Adrien’s feelings. Even though I would’ve definitely said. Your girlfriend is stalking you?! How are you okay with that?!
I’ve seen people say that Marinette inspired them to stalk their partners or crush and I’m legit scared for these fans cause what
you’d think after 6 seasons she’d actually develop and move away from stalking…
Agree, the goofiness and Looney Tunes style (or whatever it's called) is way too much
Sublime is a Disney princess 👸
She's closer to live-action Cinderella.
LMK FAN SPOTTED⁉️
The other thing that's confusing from last episode is, how does Marinette not know how to be in a relationship and show affection? The fact she has to look at other people on how to be affectionate towards Adrien when literally she has great parents as role models to follow is completely backwards.
I agree that they overdid it, that being said since it's Marinette's first true relationship it's the first time she experiences the fear of losing her bf, the fear of someone better to take him away, and Marinette has a hard time dealing with her own emotions.
Unlike past seasons, she actually reflected on her actions and was actually made as the bad person, as long as the same situation does not happen again I think it's fine to forgive it, considering it's a new experience for her
She does have stalking tendencies but she was always made out to be "right" by her friends, so it makes sense it never got fixed.
Hopefully this is the last time
Marinette never got even a slap on the wrist for her weird behavior for it always came good for her in the end.
By so called "reverting character development" they actually "facing character negative traits to resolve them by confronting consequences of their actions"
Like it should've been, instead of "She acted like a weirdo all time, but she got a boy, and was sad in the London special, so anything else can be ignored".
No it's not.
I love your miraculous ladybug reviews/summaries
The father feels sorry and wants to relieve her from any difficulty (when she's having trouble carrying the bag he wants to help her)
while the mom is the harsh side of it, who thinks her child has to do twice as much as others to be equally happy and whom she needs to 'put in shape' before she dies or else there will be nobody to take care of them once she's gone.
I mean, didn't the entire episode frame her as being in the wrong?
@dangerbuffrocky I think what’s really rubbing people the wrong way is that she’s still rewarded for acting like this. Sublime forgives her immediately after the apology and now they’re friends. If she had a lasting consequence, like Sublime forgave her apology, but asked her to leave her alone and didn’t want to be her friend, that would leave off on a bittersweet note that would make Marinette reflect more. It would be a visible and tangible consequence that would make Marinette think twice about stalking Adrien or people around him again.
@cassiyahsmith9940 but bottom line is that she still owned up to her mistakes. To me, that's development, because before this wasn't the case
I still have hope that they will get rid of marinette stalker Tenancy once and for all this season, especially after seeing episode two
I liked how her lucky charm called her out, and truthfully, that's the point of this episode.
I can feel a little bit of sympathy for Marinette because she doesn’t feel as accomplish as sublime however, else she doesn’t is not the way to do it
Although Marinette's behavior got worse and the writers don't want to change it.
Poor Tikki, she's watching her holder losing herself, while Marinette thinks she's helping, but is only hurting herself more and more.
you're plotting
I really want Chloe Bourgeois to return to the good guys in future seasons.
isnt she dead?
@@rubenlohata5263no she is not. That wake fake. Thomas confirmed it himself.
I think Gabe sacrificing himself made the world better.
Sublime's family from this episode looks truly out of a makeover or homescapes type mobile game.
3:41 Insert Uncle Ruckus theme.
Heyyyyy the animation is looking way better!
11:46 Sublime's legs had soap from when Marrinate protended to be akumatized and that's how she slipped from the soap
12:04 It was the soap that she stepped on when seeing soapinator that wore her prosthesis down
Which was Marinette’s fault! Marinette. You’re not allowed to touch buckets of soapy water anymore. You cause problems!
Some say Marinette was actually and originally a stalker but never got the time to be one due to her being Ladybug, perhaps that is why she is still like that now.
The changes in animation is definitely new, but the story, pacing, and choreography needs to draw me in at least.
I think she's called sublime because sublime means awsome in french, don't know if it has the same meaning in english
I really hope they explain marinette's behavior and because its likely caused by stress
2:08 Exactly 💯
Marinette's the one who doesn't want to listen, and sometimes, you gotta experience some bad feelings to understand why a certain behavior is wrong
I want to see a version of this episode with cartoony sound effects.
I mean, at this point you can argue the Lucky Charm itself as a power has sort of a consciousness of its own, and it just said "f*** you" 😆
2:38 why do you have to be so funny🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
