An Empty Show

Things are not always as they seem. In Mark 11:12-21, Jesus interacts with two things that seem to be full of vitality but aren't: a fig tree and the temple. In looking at this account, we are forced to ask difficult questions about our religious activity: is it for real, producing change and character growth in us, or is it just an "empty show" (Andrew Sach & Tim Hiorns)?
