- "For its latest releases in the TonePrint range, TC has opted to go down the often overlooked world of utility-based effects pedals with the release of the HyperGravity Compressor and Sentry Noisegate."
TC Electronic HyperGravity Compressor & Sentry Noise Gate Pedal Review by Guitar Interactive Magazine. Reviewed in Issue 37 of Guitar Interactive Magazine by Tom Quayle.
Welcome to GI 37, a very special issue as it features the amazing Albert Lee. We've been trying to catch-up with Albert since GI began but so busy is his schedule (even at 70!) that we've only just managed. Don't miss our exclusive interview or Lee Hodgson's unmatchable Albert Lee Tech Session! bit.ly/GI_37
Also in this issue is the hugely gifted Thomas Blug - not just one of the world's top Rock players but also a noted amp designer, which you have to admit is an unusual combination! Tom Quayle's delivers a truly fascinating interview with a great player. bit.ly/GI_37
With a full review line-up of guitars, amps, FX, basses, acoustics, home/project studio and live gear (not to mention the amazing Jaime Vendera teaching us all how to be the next Ian Gillan!) and tuition columns we think it's a pretty tempting package! bit.ly/GI_37
Oh, and freebies? Well how about the chance to win a superb Sennheiser wireless mic system or the brand new Red Witch Zeus FX pedal? bit.ly/GI_37
GI - still growing and still unique! bit.ly/GI_37 Видеоклипы
First bought the HG love it. Then added the Sentry. Perfect combo.
really helpful review
Keep up the quayle videos
If I'm not mistaken, the send and return are same as those found in Boss noise suppressor. Your guitar goes into the input, dirt boxes (and amp preamp) goes into the loop, other pedals go after the output. The dry guitar signal controls the opening of the gate.
(I'm referring to the video where he said he didn't know what they are for.)
+cyrfung thats right, its the exact same. but for the same price the sentry has a lot more features than the boss. the main issue i had with the Boss is that the Threshold and noise reduction control are all in the same knob called threshold. so even with my effects plugged in in the loop, i had to set the threshold much higher than my guitar level to REDUCE the noise, which makes the loop completely useless... and not even mentioning the multi band feature and the tone print editor software features that are unique to the sentry (to only gate the frequencies where your noise is or just pin point the 50 or 60 cycle hum of your single coil and only gate that is a HUGE HUGE HUGE feature)
+SweBass These two TC pedals really show the power of digital processing. Really interesting products.
Meh... there is much more to talk about for the sentry, the effects loop is here to detect your guitar signal (as pure as it can be) and gate whats on the loop, thats useful if you have very noisy pedals, so noisy that with a regular noise gate at the end of the chain you would have to set the threshold so high that it would confuse itself between noise and notes so it would result in cutting off your notes.
Also the multi band function is the biggest and unique feature of this noise gate (for example pin pointing the 50 or 60 cycle hum from your single coil ONLY and gate it is HUGE!!!) and you haven't said a word about it. That is not a review, please re title your video as an "Overview"
I'm guessing by the misinformation that this was filmed some time ago? These pedals have been available for a while now.
I would imagine "send and return" is for use in an effects loop, damped for higher input - if you have an effects loop, this is the best place for it removing preamp noise too
It's the pedal's own effects loop, you can put your head's preamp in it even, e.g. "send" to amp input, amp send to pedal return, pedal out to rest of effects, which then go to amp return.
@@dushk0 Yeah, that's exactly how I've set it up. Really powerful tool. It goes Guitar -> Hypergravity -> Noise Sentry Input -> Noise Sentry Send -> Pedalboard -> Amp -> FX Send of amp -> some FX loop pedals (no reverb/delay) -> Noise Sentry Return -> Noise Sentry Output -> Delays, reverbs etc -> Amp FX Return. So all the noise is being blocked from my guitar, amp and pretty much all FX while still keeping the perfect sensitivity of the gate no matter how much gain/volume I put in the signal afterwards since it's listening to the clean guitar signal.
pues es una chulada .pero si hojala se doble al español. para comprender con más claridad
His guitar is from Frederick's Of Hollywood.
Clean tone has no bottom. Recording?
Everything that is BELOW the treshold is cut-off, not ABOVE as stated in this video!
Wish they were 96khz instead of 48khz output.
what guitar is that?
+TheCowman Some kind of Tom Quayle custom Fibenare Erotic, methinks.
Dose your misses sit on that horn..??... lol
You should used a strartcaster lol
What an ugly guitar!!
You don't like pink dildo guitars? What's wrong with you?
What a bad job with these demos. And he doesn't know how the loop works in a noise gate.. Wtf!?
I don't trust anyone who plays such an ugly guitar. Skipped.
