  • It wouldn't be a road to Badminton without the amazing Lucinda Fredericks whipping my butt into shape. Thanks to my incredible sponsor, The Pure Feed Company, we headed to Rectory Farm to meet Lucinda for a jumping lesson. She is no stranger to the channel and an absolute heroine of the eventing world, with many 5* wins and Olympic medals. As always, Lucinda took no nonsense and had me full of confidence by the end, jumping a pretty meaty track. I've left this one long so we can all learn a thing or two from this utter legend!

Absolutely brilliant Meg! Last year when Ellie jumped Dee you said ‘why can’t I ride her like that?’ - you just rode Jammy exactly like that. So positive and forward 🎉

Lucinda brings out the absolute best in you, Meg. Your riding was incredible here. I hope you watched this back and thought "well I bloody smashed that, didn't I?!"😂. You + Jammy are a very talented pair - everyone else, including Lucinda sees it. Have faith in yourself and your superstar pony

Best I’ve ever seen you ride!!! To watch you push Jam up to the jump and never taking a pull! Eyes up, Jam landed in the correct lead each time!! You look more confident than ever. Lucinda was brilliant to have you jump higher fences. When you are warming up at any competition, Flick back, Flick up! Flick back to this day. As L said to watch this video so many times, so mentally flick back to those images of you putting Jam up to the fence when necessary. Then Flick those images up to the present moment and see yourself riding just like you rode in this video. You looked like a professional and the experienced rider you are. Very exciting to walk. You are so confident in Jam, her abilities and yours! Go for it!!

I hope you watch this back a few times. What was being asked of you is really clear when you see the difference in the horses “power”. Ie. The push and release, the halt and canter, the jumping through the middle of the fence etc. Great learning. Plus, you honestly need to ignore the numbers and stop looking into the base of the fences. You and your steed have so much more skill and jumping power than you give yourselves credit for. Smile, head up and go. You can do this 😃👏👏👏

As Lucinda says, watch it back. It's so difficult when part of you wants it to be easier, but Lucinda's tough love brings out the best in you because you trust her. Watch it and trust yourself. You can do it!

No pulling, no circling, landing on the correct lead each time? and actually riding forward to those big fences. Fantastic! I love when you ride with Lucinda. Lucinda is brilliant. I think she gives you confidence. She doesn't listen to your nervousness. "Just get on with it." It's good to jump a higher course in training. It proves to yourself you're capable. And, Badders will be easier cos you know you can jump higher. Always train at a higher level than competition, doesn't matter which discipline, dressage or jumping. You're doing great. Remember to be positive. ❤
