I believe that was based on life and actually pretty common. I remember James Cagney had to speak Yiddish in a movie and coaches were hired.
Turns out he didn't need them. He spoke Yiddish from growing up with Jewish friends in NYC. Irish, Italian, and Jewish kids grew up playing together in NYC and just picked up each other's languages.

Jewish Meyer Lansky and Italian Lucky Luciano became friends when they were children - this is in real life. Irish James Cagney spoke Yiddish so well he shocked the Jewish studio heads.. Carney grew up speaking Yiddish with his Jewish friends in NYC. Sure, there was division. There also wasn't.

I heard that rumour. Pitt was a dick so they wrote him out. BUT Terence Winter always said it made perfect sense for Nucky to whack out Jimmy, the man who told him he couldn't be half a gangster anymore. AND I met William Forsythe, who played Manny Horvitz, and I asked him about Pitt's behaviour. Forsythe said it's nonsense. He has no idea where that rumour came from. He told Winter the series would suffer from killing off Darmody. So, who really knows, eh?

It's because Meyer was this low key awkward guy that is not used to charm or act that way with people he does business with, that weird smile is to show that he was stepping out of his comfort zone/usual demeanor to convince Jimmy.

I just realized that at the beginning of the scene, Benny is looking out the window with binoculars. Ha! What's he up to? Based on the historical character, I'd say checking out girls or looking for anyone who's up to no good and might "need" to be shot are good possibilities.

Meyer says "what can you do?" in response to Luciano who said "the kid is meschugge". However, it's not correct in Italian. They translated it with the 2nd person plural or the formal 'you' instead of the 2nd singular. So it should be "Che cosa puoi fare". His pronunciation is pretty good though ;)

Jimmy is a tad overrated. He was good, but overrated. With a show so stocked with fucking amazing characters (Luciano, Massaria, Lansky, Rosetti, Gaston Means (remember him?), Manny Horvitz, Harrow, Capone, van Alden, Chalky White, Dunn Purnsley, Rothstein etc.) I never quite got the obsession so many fans had/have with Jimmy. I'm more mad that they didn't run the full 7 seasons than the fact that they cut Darmody short. This show should've been attracting 20 million viewers an episode, to be honest.

Its made from Sesame Seed Paste supposedly,. a main ingredient also in HUMMUS .
But I honestly didnt know what The Halva was made of until i just looked it up, even though I ate TONS of the stuff when I was a Kid growing up in Europe, where it is also popular,..
Its extremely sweet, a couple small pieces is more than enough , it breaks off sort of like a Brittle but much softer.
I cant imagine ANYONE eating a Pound of it..
Nutty pleasing flavor , tastes good with Coffee IMO.
