    I was lucky enough to see Michael Stuhlbarg play Tevye in our Highschool's production of "Fiddler on the Roof" when he was a Senior back in mid 80s. It's truly cool to see how far he's come not only on this show but with his reputation on Broadway and in movies.

    I met him once at a hotel a while back in Iceland. I was like "Boardwalk Empire, watch it every week" AR definitely being one of my favourite characters, now this was during its peak but he was actually surprised, I guess because he was in Iceland. Great actor.

    Love how AR gets annoyed pretty much everytime he has to deal with Mickey Doyle. It's like, he can't suffer fools, and Mickey is the ultimate fool. He spends five minutes explaining the importance of information, and Mickey doesn't get it... "Have you been listening to a single word I've said?!" lol, and it's so funny how AR never really gets into a rage but you can hear his voice rising because of the anger... Amazing writing and amazing acting, too ^^

      @@sensaiko no reason? He was a nobody that annoyed the shit out of everyone. That last meeting he was a part of was a big deal and him having his throat blown out his spine was not only a subtle way of having his character finally stfu but also a perfect example of writers catching the audience by surprise while conveying the seriousness of the scene.

      @@Maw0 The real Arnold Rothstein's luck ran out in 1928. He owed $320,000 (about $5 mill in today's dollars) from a 3-day poker game (lot of bad side bets) and refused to pay, saying the game was fixed - and was killed - and the guy that most likely killed him was acquitted. His luck ran out - but he was a true criminal to the end, refusing to identify his killer to the police on his deathbed.

      @@Maw0 If I remember right the 4th season took place in 1924 and the final season jumped 7 years to 1931, so they skipped over his death, which is why Michael Stulberg didn't return - and even he said that he would have loved to see it but he understood they had so much to cover that they jumped over it, because they just didn't have the time to deal with it.

    It's funny. The excuse they use is that they didn't know the chauffeur has a gun, but the gun isn't why the hit failed. He didn't even draw the gun until the D'Alessios were already running away.

      There was another scene,with different characters,where one ask another if he wanted some cake and he says something like "What am I 5?".Evidently some were into eating cake whenever back then.

    I never saw the actor who plays Rothstien in any other film up until the new Steve Jobs movie came out in 2015, and he plays Apple's lead engineer/designer (not Steve Wosniac). And he did an excellent job with that film as well. Great actor.

    That statement is even now profound now in the age of facebook, google, etc gathering and profiting off the personal information of billions who use their platform. An even relatively new field and profession "Data Scientist" has sprung up to mine all these useful nuggets to make more money.

    Yes but Nucky didn't know that and still got his share of the profits....Not to mention without that whole scene with Rothstein selling out the D'Alessios Nucky would have lost his election.
    I'd say Nucky gained more than Rothstein in the end.

    To someone like Rothstein, its never that I made one million more that Thompson, its always, I'm out a million less than I could have with them all gone. Major players in the money game always concern themselves with loss potential; that is how they keep in the game.

    I should have been a bit clearer. There were six D'Alessio brothers, two died before the peace treaty and the four others died afterwards when Rothstein gave their location to Nucky. 6 times 500,000 equals 3 million. Subtract from that the 1 million given to Nucky as part of the peace treaty and Rothstein still ends the war with 2 million, twice as many as Nucky profited.

    Not really, if A.R got 2 mil from the insurance policy and Nucky got a mil from A.R that's a mil each. They profited exactly the same. I agree with you in principal though, A.R is definitely the shrewder businessman of the two. However he was left with egg on his face in the end and forced to eat a little humble pie, which i imagine was just as painful to him as handing over a million bucks.

    The joke's on Nucky. As part of the peace treaty Rothstein also gave Nucky the location of the four remaining D'Alessio brothers, who were subsequently killed. Each one of them signed a life insurance policy that gives Rothstein 500,000 $ for each one of them that dies. By killing the four remaining D'Alessios Nucky gave Rothstein his money back + an extra one million $. The two other D'Alessios died earlier, meaning that Rothstein ends with a two millions dollars. He profited more than Nucky.
