I also suggest watching some RUclips videos on how to mix your vocals on the software that you’re using and just learn what the tools do, that’s the way I learned and I found it really useful! Don’t worry, you’ll be an expert once you experiment with different effects overtime! :D P.S. The software I’m using is Logic Pro X for my vocals and for my videos, I use Final Cut Pro if you’re looking for a good software to record your vocals and edit your video!

Thank you so much!! The reason why your mic is peaking is because you may not be using compressors- these level out the volume of your voice so that the louder or quieter you sing, it will sound balanced. I like to use two compressors- have fun messing around with the settings and the different types! I also EQ it- you can mess around with this to see how you would like your voice to sound and I tend to distort vocals like this too! Harmonies or doubles/background vocals sound better when panned left and right so be sure to do that to create a fuller sound at certain points in the song but also this may help with blending the vocals in with the track. Yes, I use Space Designer in Logic Pro X to put reverb onto all my vocals, not just the main- test out as many styles as you want! The more wet you make the vocals, the more obvious the reverb is- I recommend putting it on 20.0/25.0 but mess around with it- it’s whatever suits the song! Okay lastly (I don’t wanna keep you reading forever haha), I use a pitch shifter to also create a wider and fuller effect (I only use it in certain songs- piano and quieter instrumentals is what I usually don’t use it for). If you turn semitones down to 0 and turn the mix up a little (I usually do it to 60%) and turn the cents up or down, you’ll be able to hear kinda like a double in the background. What I do with this is I like to bus it out and pan left and right so it makes a fuller sound and blend the vocals in with the track when there aren’t any doubles or harmonies supporting the main vocals. Oh and to get some good echos too, I use the AUDelay- it’s an Apple Plugin (I create another track, lower the volume and mess around with the timing of the echos). Good luck when you record, I hope these tips will help you (if you haven’t got Logic, I recommend you get it, even though it’s expensive since it’s really worth it!). :D
