Being a lifelong Texas Rangers fan, my son wholeheartedly supports you tearing down & dismantling *anything* related to that other MLB team who happen to reside in the great state of Texas, as well. 😉
Hardened and cracked buckram is a nuisance. I've tried reshape it with steam and hand-pressed but it just won't budge. The cap looks like vertical trenches in the WW1.
+1 on Dodgers fan. A lot of New Era caps (especially the blanks/custom ones) are white underneath the brim. What's under that if you remove it with a seam ripper or something? I prefer the color under the brim to be the same as the rest of the brim, but if I remove the white I'm worried it would destroy it.
Have to confess I'm not sure I know exactly - are you saying the undervisor fabric is white? I've done a whole video on visors, btw - in case you'd like to see the construction and materials - ruclips.net/video/wD2jpl_fNUA/видео.html
If you are particular about the integrity of the brim on a 59Fifty then *never* place one in the wash, regardless if you're utilizing a Buddy Cap contraption. That style specifically uses a dense cardboard material for their visor. I am not sure if New Era uses that for all their cap styles but please do research (like the vids on this channel) before doing/buying _anything_ .
Right on, great guidance... I actually did a whole video (in partnership with the Captician) about visor construction and care, and that was our first rule of visor care. ICYI, video is here - ruclips.net/video/wD2jpl_fNUA/видео.html - thanks!
Yes, go to my channel and see my video on Cleaning - Part 2. I recommend never to get the visor soaked with water, New Era mostly uses a cardboard/plastic hybrid now, but they still seem to get a little weak if they are soaked.
New Era actually uses a composite material made with both fiber and resin, so yes there is a percentage of plastic in them. I did a more recent video that was all about visor construction, and in that video I said rule #1 was still “don’t soak the visor”
Very interesting. Really like your vids Mitch. I’m a cap enthusiast, currently own over 600 caps. I connect with like-minded cap enthusiasts on Twitter. We just show our caps and talk caps. #HatTwitter #TimelineTerrors #HOTD #CapsOn if interested in joining our discussions. @muzixndmd
Very cool, thanks for posting - and impressive collection! And thanks for the support, although I feel compelled to mention my name is Doug, not Mitch - no worries, though.
dre in the 616 Doug I apologize for the error. Looking forward to your review of the 2019 BP/ST caps. The NYY home bp is practically the 2015 cap but w/ the addition of the New Era flag.Considering I have 11 (yes 11)duplicates I can’t in good conscience pay $36.99 for the 2019 cap (though, as a cap enthusiast, I’d like to). #CapsOn #HOTD #TimelineTerrors #FittedOfTheDay
As a Dodgers Fan i really enjoyed watching this.
Always wondered what the brims were made of. Thanks for the video!

Ha, I’ve still got two other Astros caps - it was just time for this one to go! But I do need to add a Rangers cap soon, thanks
Really enjoyed the video! Always wondered how the inside look! Your a beast!
Thanks, man - really appreciate it!
My hero. All my hat questions answered on this channel.
Bro I literally needed this specific video and I just knew it didn’t exist until I did
Cool, glad you found it, thanks
Doug, one fun fact! New Era caps are flammable as heck lol. I burned one and it impressed a lot how quickly it was eaten by the flames.
Too funny - all in the name of science, lol!
11:42 No warning, I was NOT prepared for that. 😆
Hardened and cracked buckram is a nuisance. I've tried reshape it with steam and hand-pressed but it just won't budge. The cap looks like vertical trenches in the WW1.
Yep, it's unfortunate when the buckram loses its resilience - always a good excuse to look for a new cap, though!

Great informative video. Thanks for sharing your analysis of one of man's favorite accessory!
Hey, thanks... totally agree, can't live without the caps!

Very informative vidio. Thank you!!!
Hi doug, do you have idea about washing New Era Cap if the cardboard will be soft?
Yes, go to my channel and see my video on Cleaning - Part 2. I recommend never to get the visor soaked with water, New Era mostly uses a cardboard/plastic hybrid now, but they still seem to get a little weak if they are soaked.
Great channel
Cutting up Astros caps should be a new trend
sir dre pls do a 9forty teardown ...
Not sure about a teardown, but I do have a 9Forty review going up this week, thanks.
The brim is certainly not plastic and they are not a fan of water exposure for multiple hours

@@dreinthe616 is there anything you can do if you have a bill that has gotten soft?
Best part was the 90s Version!
Omg
Nooooooooo oh wait it’s for science 👍
If i send you my hat can you shape it and size it for me lol
Ha, if only there were enough demand for that kind of business!
Very true, youd make a fortune
You still have all your hair why do you need so many hats?
Lol... mostly for the designs, but also functional reasons: warmth in winter, visor for shade, and a sunburn blocker for my forehead.
Noooooo! This is painful to watch especially because the Stros are my team :(
Ha, don't worry man! I've repped the H in plenty of videos, and I still have two other Astros caps!
Yeah tear that hat up cheaters
