Also, what I'm going to suggest is irrelevant to the topic, but did you know that there's an NES/Famicom game that features Hitler as the villain? Uncensored and everything, you get to blow his head up. In the U.S it's known as 'Bionic Commando', it's an okay game. Japan is odd.
Its mostly a pronouncing thing. I'd wouldn't say its an issue. It simply depends on WHO says it. From how it is spelt. Its GAT-LING. But some will add an A because it probably sounds better in their head,which when said out loud can be proven a pronouncing issue. Its like how colors is spelt with the addition of a U in the UK or how the letter G to some people say it in a manner similar to the letter J in some pronunciations of certain words.
