I feel like calling The Callisto Protocol the Uncharted of survival horror games does a disservice to Uncharted since those games actually have memorable and charismatic characters, pretty good storytelling, and fun combat.
I kind of liked Callisto, it felt more like Resident Evil with the semi open local areas, limited in inform and mix of conspiracy and zombie horror. Guns and melee combat were pretty cool, but a little redundant. Hope it has a chance to expand a bit in the world building and enemy variety.
Yeah, and they also had a full 3+ year dev cycle with experienced leads, so it's especially weird that so many quality of life things like walking around with audio logs are just absent
They should have just made a Warhammer 40k game out of this. You feel more like a space marine then a random guy waking up in the middle of a zombie outbreak.
Greatt video! I think it was the level design that killed it for me, and some other things that just made the game less fun. Like the extremely minimal inventroy space in firstt couple hours, I am used to having issue with inventory but 6 slots is just ridiculou, especially when there is no storage at the shop. The combat did not help too much either, enemies are massive damage sponges. In action/survivor horror game, next combat should make me tense or scared, not sigh. I am not gonna be afraid when my guy can just beat the enemies with the stick. Also if you make melee combat oriented weapon whose bright idea was to have only a single weapon (not countring the starting weapon you have for like 15 minutes which works the same as the baton). Where is my big nast hammer, or short quick blade? Something that would change the combat approach in some way. So nah, CP was a failure in my opinion. Nice idea, did not work out. Let's hope they will get chance to get it right in the future.
Holy shit.... I just now realized that Josh Duhamel and Timothy Olyphant are NOT the same guy. Over the years I've seen their roles in various films and TV shows, and I always thought it was the same actor. WOW 😂
Bruh, look at the biophage enemy to the left just standing there waiting his turn to get hit in the head 🤣 2:24 the combat in this game was hella repetitive lol
The Callisto Protocol had much potential, but it was largely wasted on terrible decisions & game mechanics. I won't go over them all, but forcing melee, having a bare-bones story, lack of diverse enemies, repetitive environments, lackluster boss fights, disappointing ending, lack of new-game+, & more, were all terrible decisions that severely hurt this game. I hope there is a sequel, but only if they fix these glaring issues. The game isn't terrible, but it makes way too many mistakes, imho. Its more boring to play than fun, & that is never a good thing.
Same, the atmosphere and sound kind of sells it on its own, I'd even be okay with a linear game if the combat was at least engaging, really hoping they get to make a sequel that fixes it though but knowing game industry I really doubt it
Marketing is what hurt this game. Really stupid idea to base your whole games theme around a previous more successful game, and tell people that’s what you’re doing
I had sort of the same vibe when playing it, cutscenes and Jill and Carlos are great but after playing Resident Evil 2 it was just so linear unfortunately

You're not wrong, those games actually have memorable characters which actually makes those games way better than The Callisto Protocol.

I enjoyed The Callisto Protocol
Don’t forget how they hyped this game to a #AAAA game which obviously did not deliver on most fronts. It is pretty obvious it was served half baked.

I thoroughly enjoyed Calisto
amazing content! first unbiased and very objective review I've come across
I am excited to play the resident evil 4 remake
Me too, it looks great, let's hope they nail it
The difference is Calisto was to short in variety and level designed but I enjoyed the combat
I agree, here's hoping the Dead Space remake will be better
@@TheUnchartedProtocol And it did better. Fortunately.

It's closer to Adam's Venture: Origins than Uncharted.
very nice photo manipulation on miniature, it looks like from one game
Great 👍 video buddy
Thank you man!

How the fuck did I never notice that, I'm dying right now🤣
@The Uncharted Protocol when it's his turn he just let's you hit him

I wanted to love Callisto but man, I didn't. I think the setting is cool, I think the lore is okay but for me it felt the mark was missed completely.

@@TheUnchartedProtocol Yet another case of developers forgetting that gameplay is a relevant part of video game design.
Lmfao don’t you dare compare uncharted to this game. They’re not even in the same galaxy
Marketing is what hurt this game. Really stupid idea to base your whole games theme around a previous more successful game, and tell people that’s what you’re doing
Indeed, it makes sense from a hype perspective... If you can actually live up to it, but they shouldve just marketed it as something else
bruh dont dis uncharted like that
I actually like it better than dead space. Deaf space remake is cool but protocol gameplay is better.
Dou like resident evil 3 ?
I had sort of the same vibe when playing it, cutscenes and Jill and Carlos are great but after playing Resident Evil 2 it was just so linear unfortunately
You really need to get your memory checked. Dead space 1 and 2 are every bit as action focused as this game of not more so
Dead space 2, yes, but not dead space 1. Dead space 1 is mainly horror focused, not action.
