I purchased a new 1290SAR, Jan 2019. I traveled 1,400km in less than 1 month. This bike makes my balls very small. I can not ride off road like they do in the video, the bike is huge when you climb on board. I am 6ft and just on the balls of my feet with boots on. The bike feels heavy off road and is like looking down onto the hood of a small SUV. I am not confident to throw it around off road...its a lot of money to drop and on some terrain angles would be near impossible for an old coot like me to lift upright. On the road, the engine sounds agricultural and noisy compared to Japanese bikes. Lots of wind buffeting and nearly impossible to ride more than 50km at 100kph with a Shoei Neotec 2 helmet with that off road screen. The wind noise is extreme around the ears and top of helmet. Better now that I have added Puig 1290 clear screen, but there is still a good amount of wind buffeting around helmet and torso due to the shape of the sides of the fuel tank. I have added bar risers, up and back and larger rally style foot pegs from KTMTwins are a must, the factory ones are the size of a Bic Lighter. The acceleration is addictive and it is only a matter of time when I will either hear a siren from police car or ambulance coming towards me. I am sorry to say, but I have never planned to sell a motorbike faster than I have with the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R. I have owned many off road bikes and 2 x 1litre adventure bikes, the 2018 VStrom 1000 was a dream on road but its never going off road, the KTM 1290R is the biggest, most powerful 2 wheeled off road contraption ever created, it is not for the average middle aged man as we don't bounce as well when we are older. I think 800cc will be far easier to manage but I will enjoy taking the 1290R on long road trips with many gravel roads over the next year before trading down sorry to say.
@@mr.c2639 I still have the 1290R. I grew bigger balls and learnt to ride and enjoy it. I can ride it pretty much anywhere now. I did buy a 350excf to throw around single tracks and to gain more off road experience. It seemed to work ok for me.
Soon to be mine. 2020 S. Adventure R. 1st trip 800 miles to Corpus Christi TX. I've been land locked for to long.🤙
I love this motorcycle.
I love KTM ❤
KTM is KTM, no other like KTM

@@nev357 Sounds good. I ride my 1190 S offroad with shinko 805 tires. Takes higher level of confidence and balance than dirt bikes.

No doubt the suspension was up rated just for this video ..
Don’t believe all the hype ..
Most people can’t afford to take this off road. Get real.
@@scottbott8525 Usually it cost a broken collar bone! lol. The bike is more than capable. 80% of riders are not.
