It would also be great to have a buyers guide focusing only on the hero packs. As someone who plans to buy most but not all of the content. I already own all of the stuff here, except Deadpool. The campaign expansions have the best value anyways. I only finished the Red Skull campaign but I'm suprised it ranked so low. Red Skull and Zola are great villains, it has some good player cards and heroes for beginners. Anyways I guess that means I have lots of good campaigns to explore ahead of me.
I agree the expansions are generally the best value. It sounds like you’re more in the boat of purchasing everything (at least big box expansions) in which case RoTRS is a good early box to get. It’s still a great product don’t get me wrong, but the villains have the least replayability for me (I find myself going back to the core more often). You definitely have a lot to look forward to!
I just bought the core set the other day and it all looks so overwhelming lol. It’s way too expensive to buy it all at once. I’ll see if I enjoy it first before going down this rabbit hole. The collector in me wants everything but my common sense is saying otherwise 😅
I’ve watched pretty much every buyers guide there is and this is the only one with a fresh and interesting take on it. I have the first and second wave all complete but still haven’t explored enough content to even begin to think about Ronin. Good to hear that if you want the hardest challenge then you actually recommend it! Very good content, Sir!
Thanks Leemundo! Personally, Galaxy’s Most Wanted is my second most played box. I think there’s a lot of value in this expansion for players with a tcg background and enjoy competitive environments. That being said, it’s still not in the higher tiers because i don’t want to be biased and understand how difficult/frustrating it can be.
Thanks for this! I've watched quite a few of these now but this was by far my favorite and the most current! A minimalist's guide suits exactly my pace and goals in the game too. My one question is about the difference between your 2 guides -- with the second one, the one that's all in -- is the intention that you buy those same exact 16 products but in that order and then follow that with whatever hero and scenario pack you're interested in? Originally I thought the second guide would also include all the heroes that I didn't see in the minimalist guide (like Thor) as well as scenarios (like Green Goblin.) Thanks!
I appreciate that :) For the guide with the intention of purchasing everything, i recommend purchasing the unmentioned packs after purchasing everything on the list. With all the big box expansions, you’ll have a decent sized card pool and can purchase heroes at leisure. I would recommend just buying the specific hero/scenario pack when you want to play them. Sorry i should have been more clear in the video!
@@webwarriorfanatic that makes sense thanks for clarifying! Feel very good about this guide, I wonder if I will ever make it all the way through but I would be curious to see another video where you tier list all the rest of the products just to see where all they all rank. But thanks again for THESE lists, great work!
@@dupthedodger you’re very welcome! I think hero pack priority will usually be pretty subjective (i got all the Web-Warrior/Genius packs first to expand supports for Peter Parker) but I’ll definitely keep that in mind!
@@webwarriorfanaticAs I watch more of your videos, I think you’ve already done this in a way with the heroes and villains ranking. Right after I watched this video I found a guy on my board gaming Discord who was selling his collection and I was able to grab Captain America, Dr. Strange and Deadpool! I wouldn’t have had those targets without this guide. 🙏
@@dupthedodger That’s awesome man!!! You’re very welcome and I’m really glad you were able to get Strange and Cap in particular because they’re really hard to grab nowadays
storytime: a friend of mine loves x-men but doesn't care about the avengers, so i told him he could ignore the core set and go straight into MG if he wanted to, along with 1 or 2 hero packs to get a decent card pool (and AOA was nowhere to be found at the time) decks without core set staples tend to be a little more janky, but that isn't much of a problem for someone playing standard (and i've beaten expert magneto almost every time with a minimum purchase cyclops deck). the only thing really "missing" is the standard set, but our workaround is to simply replace it with the nemesis set to keep it thematic (and honestly, the game feels a lot more balanced that way, since standard is such a high-variance set in true solo)
Another nice video. Congrats on 2k. But I think that Deadpool take might be polarising. For some he's probably the least consequential purchase, and easily skippable, as they have no desire to ever interact with the pool aspect (I have a friend who made me change some of the card choices for my Gamora deck recently lol) and for others he is essential as adds a fifth aspect.
Thanks man! Yea i can see that. A lot of people don’t like the pool aspect and the way that it plays. I think that objectively, it’s a strong aspect and no single purchase will improve a new player’s card pool’s power level as much as the Deadpool hero pack even if they don’t like the playstyle
I'm happy FFG's LGC's are so much cheaper than TCG's, like Magic and Pokémon. It let me collect all of Marvel Champions and Arkham Horror the Card Game for a fraction of the price of those games.
Hulk first is a epic way to get into this game 😂👌🏻 and i totally agree that buying your favorite heroes is the best way to stay interested and enjoy this amazing game. Thanks so much jehoba, I’ll always remember you were my first channel member 😁😁🙌🙌
Another great video! I think the recommendations are excellent and there's nothing I really disagree with. I also liked GMW even though people hated it :P
I finally managed to track down Captain America and Dr. Strange Hero Packs. Took me over a month. Unfortunately they were almost $30 each and shipping from the UK, but it's through Amazon at least, so shipping is free with prime. Since it's the UK And not the Germany store, I'm hoping they're both in English. My first purchase was a month ago for Nerdz Day from Game Nerdz. Next Evolution Campaign $26 and a bunch of hero packs. Once I got established with the X-Men (still no Wolverine or Jubile, my favorite first up was Gambit), I got the core game on sale a few weeks later. And I just ordered a few more hero packs for Prine Big Deals this week. Along with a few Arkham Horror campaign boxes. Marvel Champions plays different enough from Arkham Horror, that I can enjoy both games for different reasons. Most channels say the Rise of Red Skull is first after the core box. Because it teaches beginners in a more gradual progression, like how they reccomend the Dunwhich Legacy Campaign for Arkham after the Revised Core. Beginner friendly mechanics and progression being more even keeled. I wish people would stop reccomending Captain America and Dr. Strange to beginners while they are out of print. I had dumb luck finding them from Amazon.UK for over double their normal price, but they are literally nonexistent on the market entirely in the United States right now. New people in the US trying to buy their first hero pack after the core box, can not get them from US retailers.
I’m glad you got your Strange and Cap packs! Really hoping FFG will reprint them for newer players because like you said it’s really tough for new players to get them. In regards to my recommendations for them, they have staple aspect cards that i often use. Unfortunately, I can’t just ignore that fact and recommend something else. I want to inform new players the best i can
In Italy we had the reprint of the first heroes Wave in a single pack (six heroes at the Price of four) and the second wave (4 heroes at the Price of 2 and half). I don’t know if it was done in other country (for translate and distribution of FFG we have Asmodee).
Let’s go!!! 2k!!!! Your channel is the one for marvel champions I NEVER miss!! Congrats bud!
Thanks Peter!!! I really appreciate that :)
I have the whole game but its always interesting to see buyers guides
You and me both 😂🤝
This was very informative!

can you do LOTR LCG buyers guide
Sorry I’ve never played LOTR LCG :(
GMW definitely F tier hahaha.
Though im surprised red skull is not high.
Haha very few people like GMW. RoTRS has some things in it but if i could choose one box to skip that would be the one
This is definitely a tough topic to cover- I think you did a good job, tho.
Thanks gnarl! It hurt to not recommend Galaxy’s Most Wanted higher because i love that box but i felt like it would be biased.
