Mārie should have stayed in dignified silence. Joachim did not say boo when his boys' mother the then HRH Princess Alexandra was stripped off her princess title. Both of them should be quiet. Correct. Little Madam Mary who stalked Freddie till she got the title, now can’t wait for the crown, she appears to be very devious in getting her own way. Mary has a problem with anyone stealing her limelight. This decision of removing the spare # 2 heirs Royal titles is not unique. Sadly The younger prince couldn’t cope with Alexandra’s intelligence, so along came wife number 2. The two boys never ate a meal with their parents till they were 5 years old. That is very strange.

I worked in a Prep school in Ealing , where one of the teachers had taught William and Harry at their Pre-Prep Schooi in London . The boys were called by their first names by both teachers and other boys. In the Prep school I worked in , we had 2 boys who were the Grandchildren of the King of Saudi Arabia. They were just called Zaid and Nidal , and were very pleasant boys although Zaid was rather lazy and did not do his Prep properly . He went to Eton with Prince Harry , and Nidal went to Westminster . Nidal was very clever and very good at Maths . At Christmas and end of year we were given "goody bags "" with scarves , jumpers etc, from Harrods. The two mothers were lovely ladies and did not wear Hijabs. For some reason the two Princes were not sent to King Fahad academy , founded by their grandfather. It all happened a long time ago

Factually, yes, I agree. Emotionally, it's just a 'b!tch move' from Granny, as they call that.
If it was for reasons of slimming down, then she should have instated the rule to take effect for future grand children of the monarchs. If you take away something already assigned, then off course people will speculate what the reason is. It will be questioned if the children themselves and their behavior had anything to do with that decision. It certainly makes it look like that. Now, probably it was the behavior of the parents that triggered it, and in that case definitely a b**** move.

They will eventually be OK. But the children are suffering now - they are bewildered and hurt and can't understand why or how it was done. I think the Queen may have good intentions of slimming down the monarchy but she botched the process quite badly. She should have given them enough time to get used to the idea rather than taking the titles away immediately. I also think they should be able to keep the titles but not official working royals like the way their cousins do in Sweden.
There are also many more distant Danish royals keeping their titles of prince/princess without any official royal roles in Denmark - the children of one of the Queen Margrethe's sister who is married to the exiled Greek King, have dual titles of Prince/Princess of Greece and Denmark. How do they get to keep their titles while her own son's children's titles are stripped away. It does not make sense to me at all.

It appears to me that the parents are feeding their hurt and anger into their children. These kids absolutely did NOT lose their names at all-they lost their titles. In the case of Athena, I certainly hope that her school mates were NOT expected to call per Princess Athena at school! THAT would have been more alienating than anything! I'm sure their titles were only used in formal settings or by the media when talking about them. The parents are being ridiculous. This exact thing just happened in Sweden and their was no big brouhaha or if their was, it was handled behind closed doors. Prince Joachim divorced his original wife. The new wife became the premier Princess of the spare heir. Her two new children also were positioned further a than his two older boys from the previous marriage. The reality is all children have the Count/Countess then their first name then the title location. By removing the Prince/Princess from ALL the children it makes it far easier to not discriminate between who is more senior in duties of the future or if they start antics to break away from the family like the Sussexes. It avoids placing the spare heirs children in unnecessary “choices” or obligations that could be refused and ensue a fight. It is a diplomatic measure and a wise one. This hysteria of getting upset about the demotion is absurd. Children never comprehend everything anyway. Many adults can’t often. The parents still have a great working position. Despite the remarriage. The ex wife also lost her Princess status and is a Countess so seriously. They are fine.

And from what the parents are saying, they are trying to guilt the Queen and get the public's sympathy by talking about how it has hurt the children repeatedly over and over. Come on though, it's not the serious hurt of living in poverty, losing a family member, etc. It's simply losing a title. I also wouldn't call it "bullying" that other kids have asked her about it. Sounds like Prince Joachim is taking after his father, Prince Henri, who moaned and groaned and complained bitterly to anyone who would listen that he didn't feel equal to his wife, Queen Margrethe, because she refused to make him a king (technically still regarded just a smidgen higher in rank than a queen, in spite of laws that changed and now the eldest of either sex can inherit the throne). It was said that Prince Henri's mind wasn't all there in his later years, so one assumes he was going senile.
Prince Joachim has known about the TITLE change since May, right? Four months ago. Why didn't he prepare his children regarding the change in TITLE, not their NAMES, before it hit the newspapers? The children still have their names. Who is changing the definition of words and saying these children don't have their names if only their titles change? Aren't they always known by their names to their school chums, family and friends? One assumes titles are not used by school children, but they are called by their names.
The way to "slim down the monarchy" starts with removing titles. Monarchies all over the world have a problem with people complaining that the royal families cost too much money and/or are too large. Two of Joachim's sons (by his first marriage) are models, so one assumes they've found high paying professions for now. They'll have to find other work if they want to keep the lifestyle to which they've been accustomed. In Great Britain the Princess Royal's offspring and Prince Edward's offspring have done just fine without royal titles; Andrew's daughters still have their titles, but they rarely undertake royal duties so they also do not have security officers unless they are doing official royal duties.
I love being a royal watcher..., but..., it's difficult to identify with "rich people's problems." Still, their education is just as bad as commoners if they confuse the definition of "Title" with "Name."

These families should have surnames which are separate from their title. So if the Princess and HRH is removed what is Athena’s last name?
We see the same with the UK royals. One day George is George Cambridge in school, next day he’s George Wales. The legal name they should have been using is George Mountbatten-Windsor, so when the title changes the child’s name remains the same and there’s less of an identity question.

You can't move to France or United States of America and you think you have a right to have a Prince and Princess titles because it's wrong. How come you move to France and still want to have a Titles.

Try going to authorities who re victimize your child and well, I can go on and on and on. These people complaining about how not having a tittle will traumatize children is sickening. Just beyond belief to me because unfortunately I am not the only woman who has gone through a real traumatic event. Sorry for the rant. Your channel is awesome! Xo

Just because you've been through trauma doesn't mean you get to invalidate others going through their own - even if it's lower in the hierarchy - that's the whole point - creating a hierarchy amongst siblings due to birth order is as outdated & obsolete as monarchies are. Abolish all of the titles instead of alienating younger children generation after generation. Throwing one son under a bus to preserve the older ones status is abusive.

  • @kevinplanchet5472

This should be compared to children who may not share the same name as their father or the feeling of illegitimacy. I'm an American and a mental health counselor. For so many to trivialize what the children are feeling is a little thoughtless. While many of you think this change is no big deal, when something changes in a child's world, it can throw them off balance and create a lot of anxiety. Please don't tell me there aren't children in their school who couldn't wait for the chance to pick on these kids. The monarch certainly has the right to do as she wishes, but wouldn't it have been better to make these types of changes to any children born from now on? You are far less likely to miss something you never had and as monarchies are slimmed down all over Europe, the new normal is what they would be used to.

Perhaps it’s time for them all to go. I don’t want a king that’s a cheat and has lost all credibility by what they all did to Diana. He never stopped seeing the blob. Good grief, he even paraded her at his wedding to Diana. Why did he had to have his mistress at his wedding,? then call Diana emotional? it was even dressed in white. No.

Jealous much? Their children and the 2 of them ARE NOT in the direct line of succession and they need to get that through their thick skulls. I really believe that these 2 have known about this since May and chose to ignore it. The direct line is The Crown Prince Couple and their children and not the 2nd son and his wife and children.

    • @MTMF.london
      @MTMF.london 2 года назад +1

They are not talking about who is in line of succession - they know it is Frederik and Mary's children who will be in line. They are talking about taking away the titles of their children which is entirely unnecessary and very hurtful. The Swedish monarchy did the right way - they removed all official royal roles from the children of secondary line of succession but left the titles alone. The titles are hereditary and a birthright. The Danes messed it up big time.

They still live a life of luxury. Prince Joakim has a career many would love and are envious of. They can’t see it’s more about expenses than anything. So your kids aren’t called Prince and Princess anymore. Go to therapy and discuss your disappointments and grief over the change. But look past yourselves - the world does not revolve around you two and your kids. And you’ve always known you are the second son and your position would always be malleable. Enjoy and be thankful for what you do have - you are still blessed with so much, and so are your kids! Move on.

Consolidating massive and public funded royal families is the right thing to do especially if those children are not going to be "working" royals. Just saying'... but the outer family members are still wealthy, but need to start living more normal lives in the real world. They are beyond the line of close ascent. The parenting of those kids should have started a long long time ago. They sound like they have not really been living in the real world since they babies.
