This is utterly shocking! The room itself looks lovely and spacious but whoever decided this cabin needs a window needs a good talking to 🤣 The lack of customer service is disappointing too! A very useful video, thank you 😊
Great cabin tour guys 😉I'm gobsmacked at that view when it's supposed to be a sea view, but really disappointed at how they dealt with your complaints. Hope the rest of the cruise made up for it 🛳
Thank you for an informative cabin tour. Think P&O need a re think on these cabins of which there are four, Need one way glass to look out or make them ' inside with no window '.We always book a ' select fare ' and say '' NO UPGRADE '' , as once upgraded one cannot change the cabin. Reports suggest NEVER book a cabin below pool deck ( the team assemble the sunbeds first thing) and never above theatre/ music venue. Note the deluxe balcony P&O cabins on Azura/Ventura have the sofa but are longer and jut out therefore when sat out one is overlooked from ' above '. Thank you Tom & Dom ...🌅
I'd understand if they sold those cabins as sea view (obstructed) but they're not, they're sea view (standard). P&O should be ashamed of themselves and their customer service on this is shocking.
Hi guys,We've just come home from a 24 night Canadian Cruise on Aurora. We had a similar experience as yourselves We were allocated an inside cabin A283 which was just below the Horizon & Beach House restaurants which had trolleys dragged across it sounding like thunder from 04.30 until 01.30 each day leaving only 3 hours to get any sleep. The cabin was also next to a staff entrance which had an uneven floor surface with trolleys banging, crashing and rumbling over doorbars and health and safety tape attempting to secure loose flooring down and a supplies cupboard that was constantly in use with doors being slammed all day long. I would seriously recommend not accepting this cabin either this was the worst cabin we had ever stayed in I'm afraid. We did get a £100 onboard credit which worked out as about £2.00 per day each for the inconvenience P&O certainly do not look after their Peninsula Club members.
A few years ago, we were in the inside cabin directly opposite yours and really loved the location as we were so near to the pool deck. We could hear Carmen's a little bit, but luckily it went quiet by 11 (it was an Iceland cruise, so maybe a bit more sedate 😅). Loved the modern bathroom, except for the shower flooding the floor as it didn't really have a proper shower tray. When it comes to outside cabins on Aurora, we like the ones nearer the front of deck D with a proper sea view and a bath and shower. For us it's worth the select fare to get one of these. Thanks for your review, we love Aurora, but would definitely avoid the one you were allocated.
Thanks for watching. Agree with you about the Iceland cruise. When we did ours most people seemed to be in bed by 11pm. The cabins with the bath and shower do sound much better.
After a disastrous cabin allocation on a Christmas & New Year Cruise in 2021, (fortunately we were moved but it ruined Christmas Eve for me), I now always pay the select fare to choose my cabin myself. Once you take into account the additional OBC that comes with it, there often isn’t that much of premium vs peace of mind and an enjoyable cruise. However, it is also worth noting that Saver fares are usually bookable by specific cabin grade, so you can choose a grade in, for example, mid-ship and save against select fare but considerably reduce the lottery of which cabin you will be allocated. Finally, on the said cruise, we only got moved when I insisted on speaking directly with the Purser herself, customer services just fobbed me off. Magically, once I had complained in person to the Officer, an alternative, much better located cabin was miraculously available (in fact we were given a choice).
As soon as I saw that I immediately thought about that scene in Monty Python's Life of Brian when he opened the window shutters naked and everyone was looking at him. That's a shocking idea somebody has had here.
For a few Pounds more, you. A chose your cabin. When you let the cruise ship give you one, they’ll give you the leftovers nobody wanted. I’m so sorry this happened to you … and on such a special journey.
Thankfully we picked our ocean view on booking on deck E so won't have this problem. Can totally understand your frustrations, we wouldn't like that at all. Unfortunately with guarantee cabins you just never know where you are going to end up!
Thanks for watching. We usually really like an ocean view so thought we would upgrade ourselves from an inside which we have had on Iona and Arvia. We paid a premium as it was over new year and wouldn’t have minded if it was described an obscured sea view. The cruise itself was good so we are sure you will have a good time. We would have loved to have joined everyone on the cruise but perks of being a teacher got in the way. Hopefully catch up with you soon
I agree that P&O should maybe rename these cabins but a quick look at the Deck Plan shows that they overlook a pool and deck space. The Deck Plan also shows that they are under Carmen's Showlounge. Underlines the importance of doing your research before booking a cabin. I also agree that the storage space and shower is nowhere near as good as in the other standard cabins.
I checked back with the P&O site and they have rebranded this class of room: 'We have created a one-of-a-kind cabin experience with our 1st ever 'See You' cabin. Our social media guests and clout chasers can now have an option of seeing/being seen 24/7'. @5:40 I'm sorry but I burst out laughing. It reminds me of those windows one finds in Amsterdam in the Red-light district, Instead of walking by, people are encouraged to take a seat, grab a snack/drink while waiting for an unguarded moment. By chance, did anyone wave at you while in your cabin? I would have been so frustrated that I would have posted a sign on the window: "If the cabin is rockin, don't come a knockin!'. 🙈
thank yo so much foer your video, it does scarew me a bit, I just booked a Princess cruise ex tokyo and because the balcony cabins (which I normally book but were so much more expensive) I booked an 'ocean view room" .... OMG dont know what I'll get, its not til March 2025, so if theres a chance to bid for an upgrade, may be I'd better !!! still loved your very honest video xxx
This is hopefully the exception to the norm. We have had a few ocean view cabins and usually they are a great option. Hope you have a great cruise on what sounds like an amazing itinerary
With the fare you booked did you know the cabin would be assigned and you would have no choice? If so, perhaps it was reasonable to assume that the ship wouldn't have any cabins as bad as this one. I don't know. Would you ever book this fare again or do you intend always to lock in the cabin of your choice from now on?
The cabin we booked was a guaranteed sea view cabin. So we had expected to have a sea view. Also expected the cabin to be reasonable. We had booked a saver fare before and had no problems.
@@TomandDomTravel I found the staff and general atmosphere better, P&O customer service was terrible! Also found Arvia a bit boring for activities. Going to the canaries on Anthem of the seas in October, just finished your video, that filter and the view were disgusting. Hopefully you are both well
@@TomandDomTravel Also forgot that getting both on and off Arvia was disgusting and very stressful for a lot of people, if I remember correctly you had the same problem on your Arvia cruise
Sorry you had a bad experience. I would have tried some ear plugs, but the view could not be helped. Thank you for the warning. But it is not likely that I will ever go on P&O. But my next cruise is on the Emerald Princess, in a Ocean View cabin.
We stayed in D191 - another new addition just up from yours and it was also dreadful, we booked a seaview on a saver fare and we were allocated this obstructed view and they said it was an upgrade! There is no light at all and you can't see anything apart from the side of a lifeboat, you might as well be in an inside cabin, and the layout was just weird. Why do P&O add weird cabins in inappropriate locations??
No hanky panky in that cabin with the curtains open boys!!😂. I’d be horrified if I walked in and saw that view. I wouldn’t even be able to have them open during the day.
@@TomandDomTravel 😂😱 I can only imagine! Love your videos. Have been watching your Greenland and Iceland series. My partner Mark and I are on the Crown Princess world cruise from Brisbane June 2025. Maurice.
Hi thanks for your comment. As we mentioned in the video we booked a saver fare and the cabin was allocated to us by P&O. We booked a sea view cabin and paid a significant premium for it as it was New Year. This type of cabin is not even classed as an obstructed view which we believe is unfair for us and any other passengers staying in them on Aurora. 😀
Wow that vent was disgusting and that is not a few days of build up of dust. Very odd why those cabins were installed in that location as they must of know they wouldn't be popular and some complaints
They certainly know as it was admitted to us by both the team onboard and the team in Head office who have advised us it would be addressed in the next refit
Disgraceful of P+O to sell that to you as a standard sea view cabin. I have to say i think you were a little kind, it gives off the vibe of being cobbled together of things they found in the storeroom of a Travelodge that was waiting for a refit.
I'd go mad, sea view but you can't see the sea. That vent was filthy this could cause disease. By the way you say located lots of times in this video , we chuckled every time you said it.
Guys, once again, p and o disappoint 😞 what is going on with this cruise company!!! One of the worst, I would've been so angry 😠 had they no moved me from that dreadful cabin.
Thank you for watching. What annoyed us most is that the team acknowledged they knew the faults with the cabin and it was below standard and still did nothing

Thanks for the heads up about these cabin locations. Very informative as usual guys.
