People either hate it or love it. I love it, of course. All it needs is to be played by someone on-stage who's in a band playing mod/60's/Smithsie stuff.
Thanks for the compliment. I agree it's likely a tricky one for beginners, but you gotta just jump into songs like this when you're feeling it, right? 😉
On this one, I'm actually using a Vox Tonelab and a single Vox Pathfinder amp. If it's the fat guitar sound of "You're the Best Thing" you're after, play off the guitar's neck pickup; on the Me-50, add moderate reverb, and a warm tone on the tone selector (e.g., fat or mild). A little bit of chorus never hurts either... Not on this video, but on most others I've done, my tone "secret" (in addition to the ME-50) is to use two amps--Vox AC30 and Roland Jazz Chorus. Hope this helps.
As always too class the modfather65;) It is with the song "café bleu" Lp that TSC went under my radar. At the time in high school I recieve a K7 copy. The A side was rap music and B side was that band and there was no name. I remember my in love adolescent brain clicked immediately on "the Paris match". Guess what my friend let me kept the K7 and I still have it on my possession:)
Thanks for the lesson. This song is not for begginers as I am but I'll face it as a challenge. I've a epiphonic casino and the boss me-50, could you please inform what effects you use to get that weller guitar sound? Thanks once more
I think so... It's even more beautiful in person. The paisleyand the pink won't be everone's cup of tea, but we "real men" mods will love it. Thanks for the Kudos, Soulagent79.
great to find this thanks. I was just curious you are clearly a Paul Weller expert and I was just interested to know if there was a reason you started the opening riff on a different note to what PW is clearly playing in the video ? just curious if it is because he used non standard tuning or some such. I played your notes along with the song and sounds fine. Silly question I know. thanks and keep up the good work (bet you didnt think you would be getting questions 7 years after you posted it.
@@modfather1965 THanks for reply. I am just saying that if you look at the notes Paul plays which are very clearly visible on the main original video for the song they don't seem to be the same notes as you are playing yet yours does seem to be perfectly in tune with the record. Maybe I am wrong.
@@modfather1965 You start on the 5th fret of the B string while he starts on the 4th. I can understand could be tuned down one note maybe but when I play your notes along with record sounds fine. I am sure the problem is just me missing something
Great vid thanks for uploading this and what a guitar u have urself there. I’m a 16 year old from Nottingham, England and really rate weller and the whole mod scene and what he did with the jam etc. Keep up the vids and work mate
Archie... Thanks for the encouragement, man. The first time I heard The Jam, I was about your age, but over here in the USA. The first time I made it to London was when I was 19, after The Jam had split. Nonetheless, for me, the magic was still there. Loved TSC too, (and love early Weller solo stuff too), but the Jam will always be king for me.
The worst possible angle for showing finger positions. Wtf were you thinking. Worked it out by ear ( sort of) eventually. Oh and thanks for all the Rickenbacker info.
Sure... Made it myself online. Ended up not liking the fit of the shirt and sold it on Ebay some 3 years ago or so. Thanks for asking, as I'd like to have another, but with a better fitting T.
Yeah... I'm sure this could have been done better. I do, however, make the assumption that anyone who watches this will already know well how the song goes or sounds...
Thanks a whole heap that just made it so easy to play such a beautiful song that I have admired for many years. Cheers
Wow! Love that guitar. Beautiful mate.

What a beautiful guitar
Thanks. People either love it or hate it...
Thank you, it's a beautiful tune.
Thanks mate, the best tutorial for this song, on RUclips so far 👌 but could a bit of a struggle for beginners.. Cheers

Greetings from Torquay UK.
Thanks for this. I have just started jamming with TSC Sax player Billy Chapman. This is very helpful!

Thanks for your fast reply.I'll give it a try.
wonderfull :)
The guy did a wonderful factory-like job on it.
That's a fabulous idea about Smokey. Glad he's still around; maybe he will, ay? You should contact his agent...
Thanks, Clive. Glad you approve.
Thanks. I'm quite pleased with it.
Amo essa música 😍..

Because where the video recorder is placed I’m finding very difficult to see the tabs for style council “Your the best thing”.
I know the angle is crappy... Sorry about that. If you send me your email address I can send you a scan of the tabs. ;-)
It had two hair-line cracks on the front and back, which the refinisher sealed for me; that's why I got it for such a nice price ;-)
great share !
Where can I find an accurate tab for thistle you play it? I see so many that aren’t correct
I've got one... Or something like a tab for it. Anyway, send me your email address and I'll send along a scan.
Hope it helps...
Great shirt!
Yeah... Salford Lad's Club... Gotta love it. Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks for the comment, even 7 years later... That first note is a bass note isn't it? Is that the one you're referring to?

modfather1965 cool mate cheers
great lesson always thought Smokey Robinson should have covered this !
Your welcome.
Could you show us the chords ,'Bring back the funk ' that would be fantastic , from AS IS NOW album
Although I have that disc, dunno that song, sorry... Shows how much cd listening I've done in recent years.
+modfather1965 ok thanks , keep up the uploads!!!!😀

Oh. No problem. You’re welcome
love this !!! are the tabs available?
Indeed... Send me your email address.
Se la posizione della telecamera fosse stata frontale al manico della chitarra, sarebbe stato meglio.
Infatti sarebbe stato... ;-)
nice !
+TheSonsofjim Thanks for stopping by. Cheers.
$1700 from an on-line seller... The re-finish came later.
thank you mod!!!
How much did your Rickenbacker 1999 cost
I wish the guitar was more facing camera
Sorry about that...
I've noticed Weller plays the chorus slightly different .
He does... He "grabs" his chords without doing a straight bar like I do. Probably comes from his punk rock days...
Can you shed any light on your Salford shirt mate?
Sure... Made it myself online. Ended up not liking the fit of the shirt and sold it on Ebay some 3 years ago or so. Thanks for asking, as I'd like to have another, but with a better fitting T.
Can i get the tabs for this?
Send me your email address...
Thanks. Yes--I'm very happy with how it turned out, though not everyone's cup of tea...
If you explained what was going on in the whole thing it would be easier to understand
Yeah... I'm sure this could have been done better. I do, however, make the assumption that anyone who watches this will already know well how the song goes or sounds...
can't see what your doing?
Sorry, mate.
