Natalie Wood is often underrated as an actress. But no other young star of her time could have done this scene with such believability. She was robbed of the Oscar.
Another great movie about a casual affair, actually a one-night stand, that leaves a young working girl with a pregnancy she doesn't want to go through with. The way out is abortion. Both Natalie Wood and Steve McQueen are magnificent in this often serious, but comical tale, about two youngsters who actually find themselves falling in love over a period of time. Ms. Wood's nervousness is mind-blowing. She works as a sales-girl at the fashion store Maceys and her fashion sense is riveting. She truly was a gifted artiste.
I'm a sucker of this kind of movie and Love With The Proper Stranger is one of the best. It captures that time in history in New York City perfectly and Natalie Wood and Steve McQueen each give brilliant performances. Natalie was only 25 years old when the movie was made. Nobody can look that amazingly beautiful at the age but she did. Even as she got older she was still quite beautiful. It's a shame that she died well before her time because even with some of the ups and downs later in her career it would have been interesting to watch her make the transition to roles for "women of a certain age". Alas, we'll never know.
Natalie Wood was the quintessential flirty girl. Those stares or hers could melt any man. Steve Mcqueen was putty in her hands. I only wish Hollywood could still make movies like this instead of all of this worthless superhero dystopian rubbish.
Even Superman goes weak at the knees when in the presence of Louise Lane...he goes more woozy with her than with a rock of kryptonite, and he doesn't have to play romantic songs like fly me to the moon...he can take there himself...and in milliseconds...so give the superheroes credit where it's due...they wouldn't keep saving us all if they were not lovable...
Puedo comprender que Natalie Wood gustara tanto a los hombres, pues yo mismo soy un gran admirador suyo. Lo que nunca comprenderé es que Steve Mcqueen gustara tanto a las mujeres. ¿Qué atractivo le ven?
These were the days when having a child out of wedlock was a disgrace now and for sometime now it's fashionable Natalie played this scene brilliantly and unfortunately Love with the Proper Stranger was when her career peaked after that it was all downhill
It was a very well played scene...she was a brave and stout-hearted...as you said back then most women would take the medicine...and the men...then everyone suffered...and eventually finished up in various addiction clinics, AA, NA...etc

Natalie Wood was the most beautiful girl that ever stepped onto this earth no one ever was close to her beauty
I’ll forgive the slight exaggeration. But she was simply stunning.
I kinda think so too!
Marilyn will disagree
