I think there are about 120 good issues. And about 40 not good, and 20 terrible. What ever you do, don’t skip issue 155. That’s including yearbooks and special missions.
same here. Can be sold in the future and still make your money back or just keep it as a collectible item. At least this in reading order unlike the marvel box sets such as infinity gauntlet , secret wars box sets etc
Started collecting GI Joe Classified figures and then checked out the 80s TV cartoon after that. Now dipping my toe - well, with this set doing a full on swan dive - into the comics. If I’m going to read ARAH this is the way to go. Going Cobra. Destro, Baroness, Serpentor and Cobra Commander are some of the best villainous characters in all of fiction. Snake Eyes IS awesome, however.
Issues 37 through 57 were my childhood favourites. Snake-Eyes and another character (no spoilers for new Joe fans) invading Cobra Island was and still is the coolest storyline I've ever read. Then that other character gets murdered on the beach and that leads to the creation of Serpentor. Sooo good!!
This was a day one purchase for me ! Especially when they extend it through the next 150+ issues, as well as do the same for the Transformers. Nerd Candy, and I'm buying! Great interview!
Never really read the original comics, started with Devils Due. I’ve backed this already and I’ve been Team Cobra! since day one of the cartoon and toys. Very excited to get this and looking forward to more of this world from the Skybound team.
COBRA Commander set for me. Between the cover characters, COBRA had all 4 with favorites vs only Snake Eyes and Scarlett for the Joes. For the card voting, I only got Beachhead (I knew Flint and Lady Jaye would likely win, but never cared for them myself) but I did get two of my COBRA card votes (Firefly and Mindbender).
Team Joe for me and 59th backer. Grew up on these. #10 was my first issue. Was very excited to hear about this Kickstarter. Also have been sucked into the energon universe. Been awesome thus far! Great interview and looking forward to receiving these in Decemberish.. 🙂 Yo Joe!!
Thankfully I still have all my original Marvel G.I.Joe run and the 15-volume IDW tpb's that collected the run some years back. I did a quick flip through of this softcover compendium at my LCS and yeah it's really thick almost Omnibus girth in size but the paper is very cheap, it's the same cheap paper Skybound used on their recent G.I.Joe and Transformers #1 reprints. Now the price of $64.99 I guess is reasonable for the first 50 issues being collected at $1.30 a piece but I would've preferred thinner books that collected 25 issues each, I mean seriously this book is massive.

I asked this question in the kickstarter campaing. Apparently the files they have would look bad in oversized as they are bad quality and would cost too much and take too long to restore. Also rumours going around that Marvel will reprint these in the future in omnibus size after the kickstarter has been fulfilled. Take it with a grain of salt with the marvel rumour. I backed the full set in case there isnt a future hardcover reprint
@@ss-xl1cc We had these comics printed in the UK as Action Force. Our comics size are larger than the USA comics and I dont remember any issues with the resizing.
As life long GIJoe completelists collector i loved learning about the retailer options coming soon. My wallet hates me. But the actual per items value is like $1.50 a book not including the stretch goals. YoJoe!!!
As long as we don’t get milked to the extreme coz we are the same people buying all these. I mean I’m deciding between this and Wolverine omnibus 4 & 5… I still cant believe how low kickstarters have been for comics. Sanderson has shown what book readers can do. Spawn probably allowed Todd to make the comeback I’ve noticed while Mind Mgmt and Avatar has touched on where the power players really come from. Cmon in particular has learnt all it takes is the IP.
God. I’m so bummed. It always sucks when timing just isn’t on one’s side. I literally don’t get paid until two weeks after the close date of this kickstarter and my we’ve been going through some stuff having our daughter hospitalized and all. I would love to back this cobra edition. My dad brought me up on these comics and it’s a huge part of my life. We even got matching arashikage tattoos for Father’s Day one year. Too bad you can’t purchase after it’s closing
I believe Invincible had exclusive hardcover compendiums that eventually came to retail, as well as deluxe hardcovers and library editions. What are the chances we see the same for Joe, and/or an Omnibus from Marvel?
When I hear “bells and whistles “ I’m expecting all kinds of extras/backmatter. I figured these compendiums would be like Image’s others and exclude that kind of thing. For that reason I’m not supporting this Kickstarter. Maybe someday they’ll do something that includes it. If not, that’s ok too.
I’m a long time GI Joe fan. So much so that I have done a podcast, Star Joes, for 14 years that has a focus on GI Joe. I’m so hoping they do the IDW issues next. I also hope they do some great collections of the Image/DDP issues that were done. Cyclops is my favorite Marvel character (not just X-Men). Flint is my favorite G.I. Joe character.

ARAH was my intro to comics. GI Joe #22 was my first Joe comic but I became a comic collector with issue #23.

I’ve never read GI Joe, but I’ve always wanted to. I jumped on this one quickly (chose the Joe set)

Be aware the softcover compendium's have really cheap paper, it's the same cheap paper Skybound did on their G.I.Joe #1 reprint.

I'd really like to order this, but it seems awfully small. Amazon says it's 7.87x5.51. Is that right?
