I find that graphic organizers work best when they are used across grade levels, and teachers meet to create common structures. Thus, if a student has used a double bubble map, in 3rd and 4th grade, when they get to 5th grade it's just a regular process for them . . . If, however, you are introducing a new type of graphic organizer, that students have not seen before, or used in other classes, it can slow down a lesson . . . Ideally, teachers would collaborate to create these common structures, but in reality, as a new teacher, you often don't know what other teachers are doing in their classrooms.

We had a very similar discussion during our staff meeting! I wish teachers had more collaboration time to make learning cohesive for the students.

It is so fascination to see and hear the experiences of student teachers in other countries. I start my teaching journey this fall, too. Took my last uni exams for it this spring. As for book recommendations, when I taught an afternoon bookclub to first and second graders they absolutely loved the Three Investigators books (probably because they were massive soccer fans and these books had a ton of soccer related cases to pull from).

    Julie,
First off, 1:50-2:05 Please get somebody to try to teach that lesson to congress in DC when the Republican Led House of Representatives get done trying to run President Biden out of office. It's about why we have problems with switching to electronic powered vehicles.
Second, Do what you can with them and only what you can with them. Trying to do so much in so little time is only going to make the last days of academics in school worse on you and ultimately on the students. Time is running out on you but also it is running out on the students to talk with their friends because once they go back home on the end of that last day at school it is the clique at home for a couple of months.
