- We passed historical Dordrecht and whilst heading for Krimpen aan de IJssel, we pass a village called Alblasserdam. I used to live here when I was a kid, so this old skipper shares some personal memories.

The 4 camera's I use to produce my outdoor footage, are so called PTZ - P(an) T(ilt) Z(oom). Zoom, I only use on the rear camera, when I am underway. As you have seen I use the pan and tilt a lot. And in the dark they produce a great (short view) infrared image. I even can navigate in a marina at night on my cams.
Since they all are so called "IP camera's", each have an unique (hardwired) IP address (no DNS) in my network.

This channel follows a format: "Join Henk-Jan, whilst he cruises on motorvessel Lady Liselot through The Netherlands and a little further". That's it. This automatically means: no boat tour and no boat jobs. These subjects do not fit the format. So, I aim to give you a feel for what life's like aboard for me and hope you enjoy it, perhaps relate to it or maybe even learn something. But it's simply my story and the way I do things. Waarom ik alles in het Engels doe?
Omdat ik video's kijk van Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers én heel veel Engelstaligen die allemaal Engels lullen en ook bootjesmensen / liveaboards zijn. Want alleen dan kan je je ervaring wereldwijd delen. En wat blijkt? Mijn video's worden in 127 landen bekeken (zie S03/E01 voor de lijst). Veel van mijn kijkers en abonnees zijn Engelstaligen die mijn video's helemaal top vinden, omdat ze óf familie hebben uit Nederland, of hier jaren geleden zijn geboren en door omstandigheden nu elders op de wereld wonen. En, dat ik dan Engels spreek met een accentje (net als de Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers overigens) dan interesseert hen dat helemaal niets.
Weet je dat Nederlandse ondertiteling aan kan zetten? Doorgaans zo'n 4 uur nadat de video is gepubliceerd. Klik op de video, en kies uit de iconen die rechtsonder verschijnen dan voor [ondertiteling] en kies daar voor Nederlands. Dan wordt zelfs mijn steenkolen Engels (knap he van die jongens en meisjes RUclips) vertaald naar Nederlandsch.

how much do you budget for berthing this lovely boat each year in der Nederlands?
I do not like to be in (busy) marina's with people all around so from 1st of April until somewhere in November I am on anchor. In winter I pat app. € 950.00 incl water and shore power. But... a berth for a boat of my size whole year long will app be € 4,000.00

Hallo Henk Jan, die werf in Alblasserdam hete vd Giesen de Noord, ik ben geboren in Kinderdijk en heb mijn Bemetel diploma gehaald bij Smit Kinderdijk heet nu IHC, nu woon ik in Krimpen aan den IJssel.
Hete is af en toe fijn. Je bedoelt heette. I is van industriële h is van handels en de c is van combinatie. Na het RSV debacle zijn alle Ned. werven geherstructureerd (zo noemen ze dat) directeurtjes schuiven etc.
Mijn opa en oma kwamen uit Papendrecht! Wij hebben veel op de rivier genoten !

Hallo Henk-Jan, als je op 1 (een) motor vaart laat je de andere dan mee draaien op stationair toerental of schakel je hem volledig uit?
Doorgaans gaat deze volledig uit. Het is een vraag die vaak wordt gesteld, dus ik heb een copy/past antwoord:
There are drives which heat up during 'freewheeling'.
But... I have "Velvet" drives and the manual states:
On the Velvet transmissions, passive turing of the prop shaft also turns the oil pump and no damage to the transmission can ensue.
Freewheeling: "It has been determent bij tests and practical experience that all Velvet Drive Marine Transmissions can be freewheeled without risking damage in sailing or trolling applications."
Caution should be taken to be sure that proper oil level is maintained during freewheeling as well as normal running.
Freewheeling one propellor on a two engine boat at trolling speed will not cause damage to the transmission connected to the freewheeling propellor."
