    Amazing! I know all of this is easier said than done but when you can visualize where you are trying to go it makes for a hopeful situation. Knowing what the responses you get from your horse mean and how to correct is very helpful. Thank you for taking the time

    And Janine Hollot, another suggestion if I may. Level 2 FEI Coach in Canada, Don't ask in the same places for the trot-canter-trot transitions while practicing at any other arena, even your home arena. This way your horse DOESN'T start to anticipate when you're going to be asking for it next. Best Regards and I hope both of our suggestions help you!! Stay Safe Everyone!! @@YourRidingSuccess I may not have coached in 15 years, but I still remember my first instructor, drilling it into me!! LOL I really can say I loved going to lessons and camp with her when I was younger. She had been taught, just after WWII, after Alois Podhajsky. So she really believed in teaching a lot of the same way he did. However, she adapted it to fit her style of teaching. But I remember, your first 3 times riding were supposed to be on the lunge line, and I only had one. All the other students after a class one day, stopped her and asked her why they had had to have three 1/2 classes on the lunge line and I had only one!! And I remember her turning very slowly, looking each one in the eye, not me I was still in the middle of the arena fiddling with my birth but watching and listening LOL, and she told them, and I quote, " If you had her hands, if you had her seat and legs? You as well would only have had 1 lesson on the lungs line." And she turned and calmly walked out. After that, she put me up on a Pacer Race Horse Mare that was in for re-training to become a doing horse. We were teaching it how to trot. Not a natural gait for her. She would trot half the arena, then break into the pace, so I would bring her off the track, down to the walk for a few steps, then back up to the trot. We eventually got her to the point of trotting all the time, with the very odd break to the Pace. She was also jumping 2 feet!! Patience. You can't Ruch anything. If you want a quick fix? There is no such thing with horses in my experience. Patience however, is always with you. Stay Safe, and thank you for your compliment. From Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖💖🇨🇦 Many Blessings to all of you!!

    Susan Alderman, if possible, have someone record you riding him through these exercises to see if his hind legs are following the correct path of his front legs. And that he is staying between your legs and hands and being driven forward by your seat. Stay Safe and I hope this helps you as well as what the tips given to you do!! Best Regards from Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖🇨🇦

    This is awesome!! I was disappointed that it ended so quickly. I would love to know how you would go about riding a strong horse that get anxious or stressed when becoming unbalanced or touching a trot pole . Any input would be great. I've watched Tash's video about strong horses ALOT but it would be great to see if there are another tips or tricks that would lead to some progress. I am doing ground work with him which will also help. Thanls

    I loved this video!! I have a question when I'm riding a changing on the diagonal going right I have trouble getting him off the wall with just my outside rein and leg. I feel like I'm having to turn his head to get him off the wall but once he's off we can get the most beautiful diagonal. I can get him off the wall in walk and canter... its just trot to the right changing to the left that I'm struggling with. He always wants to resist it and but i don't have issues doing any other movement with him. He just tends to want to stay on the wall when going to the right. He is blind in his left eye so i don't know if that would have anything to do with it but i really would love some tips!!! thank you for this videos they are so helpful!!!! ❤️

    So converting the canter to trot, is similer to actually the oposite, of trot to canter!! Keep the canter active, then use the bend to slow the canter and drops into the trot, without losing impulsion. or have I got that wrong. ??
    Also suppleness I use serpentine, is that wrong?? Eg straight then simply 15 meter half circle back to straight, then back to 15 meter half only then straight again. It just seems to work for my boy.
    Im 71 he is comming up 23, and find that easier.
    Riding for us is about qaulity rather than quantity, and his mind set, someday its like pushing porridge up hill, those day's sort and sweet, other days he is keen a longer ride. Listen to your horse.

    • @YourRidingSuccess
      @YourRidingSuccess  3 года назад +1

      That is right, except try not to think about slowing the canter down as this will stop the energy coming from the hindleg. Instead think of "dropping" into the trot without losing any energy. Serpentines can be a great exercise for suppleness 💕

    Hi Alicia, when do you start cantering a green horse? Do you wait until she is balanced in trot before I get her to canter? Sorry for asking such a simple question.

    • @YourRidingSuccess
      @YourRidingSuccess  3 года назад

      We welcome any and ALL questions!! Great question, a good guide is if you can canter the horse on the lunge in a balanced way then start with the riding and remember for some horses they find cantering around the arena easier than on the lunge due to the small circle of the lunge. Have you seen this video of Alicia cantering our OTTB Mowgley? ruclips.net/video/gDRAIzxcB3Q/видео.html

    Loved this episode ❤ I have a question, how do I teach a horse to keep being on the bit? He carriess his head up if I don't "play" with my reins almost constantly. It's easier for him to work appropriately on cirles. He's been a school horse his whole life so he never really had to work on the contact like with me now. Any advice?

    I have another question. My friend rides a mare who tries to kick any other horse who passes by (mostly mares). How does she solve this problem?

  • @JTheEquestrian
    @JTheEquestrian 3 года назад +1

    I'm leasing a pony who gets influenced by people or other ponies to start trotting or even cantering when not asked too. Why is this happening and how do I solve this?

    • @YourRidingSuccess
      @YourRidingSuccess  3 года назад

      This simply means your pony is following the other horses instead of following your lead. To change this you could work with the pony on your own and follow a good routine of using the Training Scale, and making sure you steer the horse's shoulders and control the speed. Then practise with just one other horse and then add more which you ensure you control the horses speed and direction.

    Question! My horse always brings his quarters in, he literally has to be reminded every 2 strides, and sometimes he even ignores me (the leg). I use the whip as a guide to correct but he's starting to ignore that too. Anything I can do, maybe from the ground even, to make him more responsive to the leg?

    Hey I was wondering if you could help me with my question. My horse is very hard to keep straight bur even harder to bend. She's not young but very green when it comes to flatwork. If I try to circle her, she will either look to the outside or walk straight instead of a circle. When I put my inside leg on to keep her from falling in, she speeds up and tries to rush. Same for my outside leg, if i put it back she tries to canter. Pls help me I feel awful I can't even circle her :/
