exactly. if u have focus issues and distractability, that's what you have. it's common in this generation especially, it can be from mental health issues. (the "ADHD is getting more common" side has some points in this; because many people who exhibit focus issues don't actually have it, i really agree with the productivity point at the end and the fact that ADHD medication is so accessible, is actually an issue) but the numerous ways, all this objective data that adds up to it to create a uniquely individual learning style and neurodivergent patterns that directly affect behavior and control issues (due to neurotransmitter differences).... that is ADHD, and it manifests so broadly.

I feel like the questions for this were kind of lacking. It focused more on the medication and diagnosis aspect but not as much on the social and emotional aspects of ADHD. It’s not just a burden - there is also hyperfocus and the fact that I can develop interests in so many things.
i wish they had talked about the social/emotional aspect of adhd and the hypersentitivity and hyperfocus that people experience causes that is the part of adhd that doesnt get talked about as much....
Yes! Even after I was diagnosed, I didn’t know these aspects were apart of ADHD. I thought my hypersensitivity and emotional spirals were just my personality, I had no idea ADHD caused emotional dysregulation.

Zoom learning in university absolutely destroyed me and I'm wondering if some of my symptoms may have been overlooked cos I also have OCD and Autism and the symptoms can often overlap
I first got diagnosed with ADHD when I was 27, when I found out I was very mad, I have been told that I was just being lazy, making excuses and just need to focus. That cost me grades, dropped out from education, mental health decline and alcoholism before I was diagnosed.
That was my reaction when I figured it out. I’m 18 now but luckily it’s not too late but I wish anyone at all would’ve figured it out and told me sooner

There is an undeniable effect of constant over-stimulation on kids that grow up with a phone in their pocket. I think anyone who’s developed a tiktok addiction will know the frustration with not being able to read a book/follow a class/watch a whole movie without picking up your phone/etc. These concentration difficulties can be developed. I’d say it’s impossible to say it’s not getting more common

Please make a video with people that have ‘invisible disease.’ Ex) Lupus, Crohn’s, type 1 diabetes, ankylosing spondylitis, etc…. Its also important for people to talk about these diseases and they are real even if you can’t physically see it on someone! Patients with invisible diseases are usually very isolated because of it. And theres actually a lot of people with invisible diseases. Please be kind to everyone. I was always judged because i’m in my 20’s and physically look normal and health; but i have Lupus and am in constant pain. Lupus attacks my joints and muscles. Tbf there’s is no solid line between ppl with ADHD and ppl who don’t have ADHD. What decides if you have it or not is if it causes you distress in your daily life. And the diagnosis is just a cluster of symptoms, anyone can have any of those without actually having it

Yeah, I was diagnosed at age 6 and was fully aware of my ADHD, but didn't become aware of more than the basic, most well known symptoms until high school. So I knew it made it difficult for me to focus and get work done without my meds, that my hyperactivity led to me talking a lot and impulsively, and that my sensory issues were related, but in middle school I would be in my accommodations meetings saying things like, "Yeah my ADHD makes it hard, but I also have problems because I procrastinate and manage my time poorly". I didn't understand at the time that those were just additional symptoms of ADHD 😅
My boyfriend studied psychology and he was the one who told me i have it. I never really considered it. I would jokingly say it like everyone around me… but they all passed all there classes, made it to work on time, didn’t forget x,y, or x, didn’t get fired from two jobs for inability to stay focus or show up on time do to time blindness. Ugh anyways yeah. ADHD sucks especially when you don’t know you have it
i was lucky enough to get diagnosed when i was 6, but i still struggled because my mother wanted me to deal with it without treatment and medication. i love this adhd representation, i just wished they talked in depth about the hyperfocus, hypersensitivity, etc. this felt very surface level
OH NOOOOOOOO!!! I have two girlfriends, but very few people on YT are happy for my relationship success. They disl*ke all of the videos I make with my 2 girlfriends. Please be kind, dear
As someone with ADHD, all of this resonated with me to the point where I'm in tears. I can wholly relate to the depression that came from people calling you lazy, useless, failure, impatient. You can imagine what that could do to a person, having to listen to that during the first 26 years of your life. Things that my parents, faculties, coworkers have said, have stuck and stung, till to this day.
same with me, I actually had asked my Dad one time what he thought my problem was in terms of not progressing or getting a job and he said laziness. I assumed he'd say that because that's just what I thought he thought of me anyway since I never did homework and I always had excuses for me my academic failures.
I don't like how they didn't talk about how ADHD as a neurological issue, and not just a "social construct." It is a neurological chemical imbalance which is why medicine remedies those deficiencies by adding norepinephrine to regulate our blood pressure, increase arousal/attention etc. Unmedicated, I will literally do so many things that I will crash, and when I do one *thing* for the day, I will get so exhausted that I will need to go back to sleep because my neurons are firing off incorrectly. It is also feeling incredibly anxious around people, and being hyper aware of what you're saying,.. It is even losing your temper and getting SO SO angry, perhaps violent, because of the emotion dysregulation. It's also feeling really overstimulated by loud noises, smells, certain textures! Also.. the hyperfixation on our special interests while neglecting our bodily needs to eat, sleep, rest.. for hours. Also don't even get me started on being able to clean your room, or to pick up after yourself. It's trying as hard as you can to be tidy, but getting frustrated that you forget things! IT is SO MUCH MORE than not being able to focus at school.
Hmmmm - I don’t think this is accurate…. Hormones may impact the amount of happy chemicals (serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine) but ADHD is not a hormonal deficiency - but I am open to seeing research and learning more!

As a woman who just got diagnosed with Adhd in her late teens I think the first question is kinda interesting. 🤔 Did I know that it was Adhd? No, I didn't match the stereotype of the little disobedient boy who sucks at school and no one ever questioned anything. Did I feel like there's something wrong with me, like I'm weird and didn't fit in for quite a long time, which lead to more comorbid issues? Yeah, definitely
There's nothing wrong with you. There's everything wrong with the environment most kids are raised, especially intelligent, sensitive kids that are forced to sit through school for hours without end, and the idea that those that don't do well under current society's craziness just need to be medicated.

I got diagnosed after a really bad semester in school and the psychiatrist was like “woah, how’ve you been coping all this time 😦”. I was disappointed in my family but coming from a developing country I couldn’t blame them too much. I was mostly relieved to experience focus and motivation. I told my parents and they said “my son does not have ADD, my son does not have mental health issues” and that kinda hurt. To this day I’m still in therapy and medicating my ADD without my parents’ knowledge and I’m crushing it. They’re proud, I’m happy, and I’ll carry this lie to the grave lol
The girl who talked about she did totally fine until college basically told my story. I also didn’t get diagnosed until I was 30. I was a model student until college because thats when you have to manage your OWN schedule: every minute of the day is not planned for you. I went from an honors student to a girl who dropped classes and got her first D ever in her life. My dorm room was such a mess I wouldn’t dare subject a roommate to that : and so I became isolated, depressed, and only barley functional. I went to therapy. I went to doctors. Nobody diagnosed me because I was “smart”

I have sever ADD. It’s hard for me to talk about. I was always SO ashamed that I couldn’t just focus. In elementary school I had a teacher fired because she grabbed me by my face and screamed at me. I don’t remember what she said, and I felt a little guilty that she got fired because of me. The level of anxiety that comes with ADD is unreal. It’s the worst when I’m trying to sleep. Most of the time I try and got to bed at 9 but it’s 12 or 2 am by the time I finally lay down and stop moving. And I’ll lay down at 9 but constantly get up and do stuff or pace. It’s really exhausting when people tell you “your just making excuses” or “I have ADHD, your just lazy, I don’t let it be an excuse”. I HATE being this way. I’m lazy during the day and full of energy at night. It’s an exhausting wild life. Not to mention all the addiction I went through later in life when I couldn’t keep up with the doctors on my own. Now I’m unmedicated because I literally can’t keep up with the doctors and everyday life. I’ve recently lost my job so i moved off grid in the woods. I just can’t handle society and people anymore.
I got diagnosed with ADHD a couple of months ago along and mild OCD recently. As the years go by it feels like it's getting worse and when I reached out to my family they didn't get it. Luckily my school decided to have a therapist on campus and thats how I got to try my antidepressants out. I was nervous and scared because of all that I heard about them. My friends really helped me and still give me the support I couldn't get from my family and for that I'm super greatful. The meds really help make me feel okay and I haven't this genuinely okay in a long time it gave me a lot to think about. My words to people who have unsupportive families is that there's always a community out there that will accept you for you. Don't be afraid to ask for help from your trusted friends or from a community that understands your struggles. There's hope to feel better all we have to do is keep moving forward, one step at a time. Take care

Finally a video on ADHD, I’ve been waiting for this! I feel It’s important to point out that this video barely scratches the surface of what having ADHD is like. It affects all areas of a persons life, not just academically. Those with ADHD also have an increased risk of addiction, trauma and ptsd, anxiety and depression, as well as a large number of comorbidities. Not to mention a decreased life span compared to those without the condition! I went 20 years undiagnosed and it wreaked havoc on my life. It really really pains me when people don’t understand how serious adhd can be and they assume it’s nothing more than having a few silly little traits like forgetfulness, hyperactivity or poor focus.
when i got diagnosed with several mental health issues at varying times in my life, my family was less than supportive. my friends were more supportive than my family was. the type of support system somebody has can be the make it or break it for some people.

i was diagnosed with ADHD when i was 20 (junior year of college) and i relate so much. in high school i was a 4.0 student w hella extra curriculars, but procrastinated a lot when it came to getting work done. when i finally hit college and got my first Cs and Ds, it felt like it was something WRONG with me. when you finally learn that theres nothing wrong with you and that you learn differently, it's such a blessing. i was able to understand myself better and know what works for me in addition to medications. i went from having a 2.6 GPA sophomore year to a 3.9 my senior year, so if anyone reading this is in a similar situation, you're not alone!!! it's also a huge reason i wanna become a psychiatrist too, bc i grew up w immigrant parents (which usually do not believe in mental health). it was more difficult to figure out what was going on with me bc i never had the confidence to discuss it

It’s so unseen, and families push away from anything they see as a “defect”, that ADHD goes unseen or not thought of. It materializes visually for so many people as being “lazy”, “a brat”, or “not smart”.
I have this with my family. i've been telling the for a year that i think we should see a doctor because i feel like i have symptoms for adhd but they tell me it's nothing, or that i'm not hyperactive at all (which they think is the only symptom for adhd) oh and they also don't really think it's real

"ADHD is becoming more common" no, it isn't. Yes, it is getting more recognition now due to societal changes, and, with some small margin of error, only the people who actually have it will receive a diagnosis. @@Random-sk6hm Hi!! In the U.S., we have something called a DSM and we are on the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) as of March 2022. In the U.K. the ICD (International Classification of Diseases) is used over the DSM. There are different 'qualifications' to be diagnosed with ADHD. For the ICD, from what I remember, you need to have more symptoms to be diagnosed with ADHD than the DSM. Because of that, the U.K. has a lower percentage of those diagnosed with ADHD and it makes people wonder if it's a culture thing, or if it's being pushed down by different societies/exceptions. But again, I do not know for sure since I did the research paper on it 2 years ago and I do not live in the U.K. But yeah, I hope this helps? :)
It's not only used in the UK but a lot of European countries too. It's weird because I remember this American person telling me about my own mental illness without having any qualifications to do so, and the way they discribed my mental illness wasn't the way I was thought about it, so I pointed out the differences in countries and cultures. I'm pretty sure they got confused with another similar disorder tho ahaha.
@@Random-sk6hm The US diagnoses it more easily than in the UK. For example, in the UK you can't be diagnosed with ADHD if you have childhood trauma or CPTSD, but in the US that doesn't disqualify you from getting an ADHD diagnosis. Also because mental health is so extremely underfunded and stretched thin in the NHS it is generally massively underdiagnosed in the UK because of how difficult it is to even get a professional assessment with a psychiatrist (which is the only person who can diagnose ADHD.)
ADHD isn't necessarily becoming more common, but the technology is making it worse by having so much more distractions to get lost in to the out of focus loop.
I got diagnosed this year at 25. After graduating high school, undergrad, AND grad school w/ honors. At University of Michigan of all places. It all started to break down when I started working in tech. In school I’d get things done, eventually, on my own time. I’d hyper focus on the subjects I found interesting- which was most of them, record lectures because i couldn’t focus in class. But being in a meeting heavy, time boxed, quick turnaround engineering environment broke every coping mechanism and mask I had subconsciously built to manage adhd.
ADHD is definitely over diagnosed. It is not just about having a hard time focusing. It has to be to the degree that you can't manage your life. Not only that, but it is also disrupting your ability to succeed at school or work. Furthermore, it has to negatively affect your relationships with other people in all areas of your life. ADHD also has a high degree of comorbidity with mental illnesses such as chronic depression, autism, dyslexia, eating disorders etc.
Absolutely, ADHD effects all areas of a persons life! Based on my own experiences and research, I really believe ADHD is over diagnosed in males but under diagnosed and often missed in women.
I mean it's a spectrum so at which point would you say you have adhd? I suspect I have adhd but it's not that bad I can be functional but I will also fall apart so it's not sustainable
@@larajune No, just in males, especially hyperactive males who act out, are the ones who are tested for ADHD. Many more are combined or inattentive that goes unnoticed much like girls and women that get diagnosed later in life!

I have ADHD and whilst I don't believe it'll stop me achieving what I want in life, I have found that when I do find it hard to manage I wish other people knew how upsetting it feels. Like it doesn't bother me all the time, but if I'm having a really hard time it gets to me that I'm having to navigate this rough patch in life with a brain that constantly feels like I'm working against it. ADHD can make it feel like youre brain is a car stuck in mud revving and revving at 100mph but just getting nowhere.

I 100% agree with AK. I was diagnosed with ADHD at 16. My depression didn’t stem from ADHD but HS and the world around me. Finally knowing I had ADHD at the time didn’t help much either. I hated the medication and the box people tried putting me in because of it. I am 23 now and manage it on my own.
The fact their brains are hopping from one thing to another so fast and u can see it when they are asked the first 3 questions. EVERY TIME some of them move before the count down xD and i completely understand. its like, Directive -> move quick so u dont forget or loose track, Directive move quick so u dont forget or loose track... very in the moment thinking and easy to miss minor details even when repeated. I stuggle with that way of thinking all the time. If someone is explaining something to me, even at my job, i have to have a pen and paper or notes app open to write important details down NOW or I AM NOT going to remember it in 30 seconds. Brain sykes itself out when given long winded directions via phone call or general conversation and only remembers that "this info is importent now remember it!" then is so focused and stressed on remembering that you have missed what they said in the first place. I also struggle with object perminance.
The reason why I got my official diagnosis so late in life is so funny. My mom used to tell me that all of my symptoms were normal and everyone had them and she had them but turns out she just has ADHD
I like how they kept the prompts up on the screen the whole time because I always forget them as soon as anyone starts talking. Also for the girl who is scared of medication, you need to try it! It'll change your life!
Had to reset the video after being 3 minutes in cause I was distracted the whole time n it sucks bc I clicked on it bc I was desperate to hear what other people with it would say and every time this happens I think of my mum saying ‘well if you really cared then you would pay attention’ despite being aware of my diagnosis and being only supportive of me having therapy to deal with the problems she cause me to have through my upbringing which was a result of her own trauma aha just realised I’m venting but yeah I’m excited to hear what everyone says I know it will be validating like I never experienced from my family

I don’t know when I was diagnosed exactly, but I know that I was diagnosed early in my life. My guess is sometime before the age of 10. The reason my mom realized something was up was because of school. The teacher said something like “[he] is zoning out in the middle of class” and stuff like that. After my mom brought me to a neurologist, I was diagnosed with ADHD. I would say that I’m lucky that I was diagnosed so early in life.

Not diagnosed, yet. I am twice the age of most of these folks but I recognize how they navigate this world. I thought it was very cute how at the start folks were like, question asked, here I go, oh wait. And as the exercised progressed they were more able to follow that rule of wait till the countdown. I think that speaks volumes to the non-nureotypical experience.
ADHD has affected my entire life... from addiction and eating disorders to depression, to anxiety, to panic attacks. I was medically diagnosed at 19 and now that I'm 21 it feels like I'm always fighting myself every day (even with medication) there's so much to unlearn because it has affected my whole identity and self-esteem. There are endless things that come with ADHD like sensitivity rejection, mood swings, unstabilized relationships, ED's, addiction, poor money management, etc... I'm glad we're able to raise more awareness now, and hopefully, we are able to change the system that is not meant for us. I'm still on the journey of accepting it because to me it has been a curse and as much as I try to go with the flow, it alwasy ends up backfiring and it makes me hate myself even more because sometimes I just wish I had a "normal brain"... it's something that I'm still working on with my therapist. To anyone who feels the same way I do.. you're heard and we are more people struggling with the same problems! love to y'all!
It's fulfilling to hear people go through the same things as I do and even think the same. Even though there is so much more that can be covered about ADHD, it still was a nice episode.

I’m hoping everyone with ADHD has the same problem I have. My inner voice is always going, even when I’m talking with someone, I’m still in my head. I’ve grown to love my internal dialogue, I’m certainly not as bored, but it becomes overwhelming. I love that I’m creative but I hate that ADHD causes me to appear conceited by talking over someone accidentally because I’m afraid I’m going to forget my talking point or something. Now I try to write something down while I’m listening so I don’t speak over, but most people still get annoyed.

I was diagnosed with adhd three days ago, I questioned myself so much because of the whole TikTok thing because I didn’t want to just jump on the bandwagon of “oh maybe I have this” but my bf was diagnosed at 3 which is VERY early and he said he experiences everything I was describing (he doesn’t take medication for it). I was also diagnosed by someone who has adhd. Even though all signs pointed to me having it, it’s still crazy to think about. I am 21 and so glad I finally asked for help, I started taking medication to help and it honestly has made a WORLD of difference.
Same here but i rationalized by acknowledging that I had been struggling with these things for years and tik tok allowed me to put a name to a face. I didn’t just make up these symptoms they are actively ruining my life
I got diagonsed at the age of 30, just a few months ago, i used ritalin and i wanted to cry, is this how average, normal people feel and act? Im not kidding im doing so much better academic wise, mentally and started seriously working out, doing my degree, and understanding more what works for me and what not. As if i've been riding a bike a a flat tire up the hill my entire life, untill i found out i can get help for my adhd..i hope more people realize that its okay to have it and use medication.
The way that I describe my ADHD to people that are like “oh I do that to” is that everything is very I extreme. Like either I’m super focus or super unfocus. I can’t stop moving or I can’t move. I want to eat it all or not at all. I’m in a all party mood or my skin is literally crawling and I’m about to start crying if I don’t get out of here. I will do 10 hw or no hw. I will write a 16 pages paper or Google all my answers. Is not like that with everything ofc, but most of the time I found myself drained because how drastic the changes are and how difficult is to find a balance
And like this are the things I call “normal” because it also happens with more dangerous things like health, money, addictions, social interactions, interest. The fact that I know everything can just change so quick and I have no control. The out of side out of mind thing, I don’t think people understand how extreme it can be. I forget about people I love, that don’t mean I don’t love them but if I don’t see them is very difficult for my brain to be like oh text that person. And the guilt of having adhd is the worst
Something very upsetting for me is I've tried multiple medications and never feel any different. I'm in college and feel like I can't function like a normal person at all.

It took me a long time to get a diagnosis, even after reaching out to doctors. Because I had anxiety they wouldn’t consider me having ADHD because the symptoms are so similar. Finally after 3 years I got a psychologist to assess me and was diagnosed. My life could be a lot different if doctors or even family would’ve taken it seriously. This video was relatable, informative, and it was hilarious to see them instantly try to move every round because that’s EXACTLY what I would be doing haha
the look of relief on my face when everyone went into disagree at the end then the look of dread on my face when her explanation was "oh well I could just not do those things that ADHD prevents me from doing" that's a massive sigh
Yo fam I’m an upcoming RUclipsr, and I make a range of entertaining reactions, vlogs, and a variety of other content and I’m still working on versatility, and quality but I guarantee you will find something you will enjoyy!💛💛💛
Yeah I’m not gonna lie, some of the people clearly want to believe that willpower is more than enough to overcome ADHD. Which more power to them! But I was paralyzed in life without my medication and didn’t even realize it, and my diagnosis honestly made me adjust a ton of goals I set for myself. And I’m all the better for it! I would hate to struggle so much in my life just for what? To say I accomplished what I thought I wanted, when it’s completely changed now that I’ve got the tools to make me feel complete?
But all that is to say that having a neurological condition makes life harder, yes, but certain things we take on like flames to a candle. It’s all about fine tuning that ability to other things in life - which takes time, and may not always work, but that’s also okay! Progress isn’t always linear and we can’t beat ourselves up over it either. I’m def rambling but I hope you don’t worry too much over it. Any failures are just an opportunity to reassess what you really want, what went wrong, and how to move on to a better future for yourself ✨
I agreed so much with the frase: "society is trying to make us more productive than what is humanly possible" Because it's so true for me, i mean, the longer i can focus on a task or a class is 30 minutes without medication and i do my homework gradually, really, i can't do three pages of math in one day and also learn the activities for the next laboratory in one day. Trust me everyday i try to do my best:)
I do think more girls & women are only now being diagnosed because it presents so differently from boys & men. And that's why it seems to be 'more common' of a diagnoses now. I didn't even realise there were so many different types of ADHD!
Yo fam I’m an upcoming RUclipsr, and I make a range of entertaining reactions, vlogs, and a variety of other content and I’m still working on versatility, and quality but I guarantee you will find something you will enjoy!💛💛💛
But then again it really depends on the type of ADHD and social conditioning plays a part too. I'm a cis woman & I'm combined type, a lot of mine manifests the same as the stereotypical view of it - if they based my diagnosis on how they think women present differently I would probably get overlooked. I think it's better to view the traits as stereotypical & non stereotypical traits til people learn that the different types can manifest different in all genders
One of my elementary school teachers told my mother that "I had a bad gene" and that threw all ideas of anything being wrong with me out the window. I'm 27 now, and generally unsure.
That was great and so positive! Let's do one about hypersensitivity. That would be interesting how that differs between gender and age. And it would be so important to fight against the stigma.
I wish there was better representation of ADHD people who don’t medicate or who have tried it and it doesn’t work for them. Every ADHD medication I’ve tried hasn’t worked for me, and I feel a lot of people push for us to go on meds, when that doesn’t always work, even if you are open to it.
I think it's hilarious that these ADHD participants all struggled to wait for the "3... 2... 1..." and just wanted to go to the line as soon as they heard the prompt 😂
This video needs a redo with way better questions. ADHD is more than “I can’t pay attention,” which these questions all seem to focus on. ADHD is an neurodevelopmental cognitive disorder with particular emphasis in executive dysfunction, which encompasses working memory, emotional control, impulse control task initiation, flexible thinking, and organization. Please do more research on executive dysfunction, the diagnosis process, the mechanisms of how stimulant medications help those with ADHD, and the populations affected most. “I have noticed my social, emotional, and impulsive tendencies are different from those around me.” “I have had to justify my treatment to my friends, family, teachers, and community.” “A cognitive evaluation by a neuropsychologist should be the standard of an ADHD diagnosis.” “I find that cognitive behavioral therapy is more helpful than medication.” “Executive dysfunction has impacted my life negatively.” “I have found ways to manage parts of my executive dysfunction.”
The fact that there wasn't a single question where one of them didn't jump the gun and start moving towards either side before the question was finished, is all we needed to see LOL. I empathize so much because that would have been me. I appreciated this video so much. Thanks!
The most relatable part is no one being able to wait for the countdown after each question. Like, "why wait for a number if I already know my answer?" lol

exactly. if u have focus issues and distractability, that's what you have. it's common in this generation especially, it can be from mental health issues. (the "ADHD is getting more common" side has some points in this; because many people who exhibit focus issues don't actually have it, i really agree with the productivity point at the end and the fact that ADHD medication is so accessible, is actually an issue)
but the numerous ways, all this objective data that adds up to it to create a uniquely individual learning style and neurodivergent patterns that directly affect behavior and control issues (due to neurotransmitter differences).... that is ADHD, and it manifests so broadly.
The subtle adhd showing in these guys are gold

ADHD isn’t becoming more common, there’s just more awareness now. However, it is still under-diagnosed.
There is an undeniable effect of constant over-stimulation on kids that grow up with a phone in their pocket. ADHD awareness is so bad that some people with ADHD don’t even know they have it and if they do they’re not even aware of all the possible symptoms.

Your comment is describing exactly what I’ve been feeling
Same… glad I got help for it
Research shows kids and teenagers with ADHD hear more negative messages on average, compared to non ADHD peers (in school)
IT is SO MUCH MORE than not being able to focus at school.
exactly what I wanted to say (also: it's a *neurological chemical neurotransmitter imbalance, not hormonal deficiency)

@@Knightgil 100% agree up till you said just need to be meditated. It's not quite as simple as that as much as big pharma may portray.

Take care
They prescribed you anti depressants without the consent of your parents??.......

It really really pains me when people don’t understand how serious adhd can be and they assume it’s nothing more than having a few silly little traits like forgetfulness, hyperactivity or poor focus.

i was diagnosed with ADHD when i was 20 (junior year of college) and i relate so much. in high school i was a 4.0 student w hella extra curriculars, but procrastinated a lot when it came to getting work done. when i finally hit college and got my first Cs and Ds, it felt like it was something WRONG with me. when you finally learn that theres nothing wrong with you and that you learn differently, it's such a blessing. i was able to understand myself better and know what works for me in addition to medications. i went from having a 2.6 GPA sophomore year to a 3.9 my senior year, so if anyone reading this is in a similar situation, you're not alone!!!
it's also a huge reason i wanna become a psychiatrist too, bc i grew up w immigrant parents (which usually do not believe in mental health). it was more difficult to figure out what was going on with me bc i never had the confidence to discuss it

It’s so unseen, and families push away from anything they see as a “defect”, that ADHD goes unseen or not thought of. It materializes visually for so many people as being “lazy”, “a brat”, or “not smart”.

@@jclyntoledo pretty sure its still categorized by doctors into hyperactive, inattentive, or combined types of adhd since i was diagnosed last year with inattentive adhd and the dsm is the same (dsm-5) from then until now. i think they just got rid of the add term

Sometimes, I think about everything I could do and who I could be if I didn’t have ADHD. I’ve accepted it, and I know it’s an important part of me and I try to be grateful, but it’s hard not to mourn a version of me that wouldn’t have to constantly struggle to do the simplest things. Does anyone else feel this way? 🥺
I feel exactly the same. I often feel a lot of grief over who I could’ve been or what I might have accomplished. It’s hard for me not to feel so passionately angry about it sometimes, especially after having been undiagnosed for 20 years. I feel I had so much wasted potential and it’s a struggle to come to turns with that. I’m trying my hardest to let these thoughts go, I hope I’ll get there soon.
The flip side positive perspective is to look at all the things you have accomplished, and be like "Wow I must be crazy powerful if I was able to do so well at that thing despite my ADHD"
I feel this way, same regretful feeling when I think of the years I lost to addiction in my early twenties
I’ve known I have ADHD my whole life. unfortunately the various medications I took as a child caused so many different negative side effects that I resented taking meds and eventually stopped all together around 13. But seeing them answer the question on how much it has changed their lives makes me want to look into a medication that would work for me. I definitely could use some mental clarity in my life 😂
I'm glad your honest and self reflective. Many think taking meds will solve all the issues they have.

My parents don’t exactly understand mental health, and I think that I might have ADHD. I really enjoy writing but I always start an idea and then move on to another and so on. I’ve never really finished a story idea, and my parents push me to finish one and it’s hard for me. I also struggle a li with sitting still, or what to do with my hands but I’m not always hyperactive. I found this video extremely informative and for everyone else out their who is struggling find what works best for you. I find if I listen to music or an audiobook while working I can focus a little bit better, but see what works for you.

"ADHD is becoming more common" no, it isn't. Yes, it is getting more recognition now due to societal changes, and, with some small margin of error, only the people who actually have it will receive a diagnosis. AK mentioned brain scans, but they're not accurate enough yet to decide whether somebody has or doesn't have ADHD; a clinical evaluation is still always required.

I'm British, what do you mean the UK diagnoses it differently?

I'm here for you bro, happy to hear that you're managing now. keep your head up king
same here! I have not been on medication for a few years due to its side effects, and I have slowly found ways to trick my brain into doing tasks.
I wished the video wasn't that short. They were all so sympathetic.

Not diagnosed, yet. I am twice the age of most of these folks but I recognize how they navigate this world.

This needed to be like three times as long. Was awesome nonetheless. Thanks, Jubilee people, for doing what you do.
I presume your dose needs to be higher, it differs for everyone

“I have noticed my social, emotional, and impulsive tendencies are different from those around me.”
“I have had to justify my treatment to my friends, family, teachers, and community.”
“A cognitive evaluation by a neuropsychologist should be the standard of an ADHD diagnosis.”
“I find that cognitive behavioral therapy is more helpful than medication.”
“Executive dysfunction has impacted my life negatively.”
“I have found ways to manage parts of my executive dysfunction.”
omg im taking the google digital marketing certificate and ak is the instructor for the course I'm currently on. getting deja vu.
Wonderful! Please do one for autism and include autistic women too!!
I believe they already did that before, it’s in their past videos
