Hi Charlie, good job yesterday and I thought the fact checks being flashed up was a great piece of thinking. Pity it couldn't have happened in real time. The arrogance of Tingay and Avery is quite breathtaking. Packham, less so, though he did play the victim on the 2 dead crows hung on his gate. No sympathy for the man that encourages his cultists to naughtiness. Avery and Tingay were laughable in their counter-factual assertions. Trying then to demonstrate their "I'm a scientist" credibility having already had their assertions corrected by facts was enjoyable. Great news that "they" don't want to stop any shooting and something to Tweet again and again and again every time they say they want to ban shooting. Tingay let her mask slip when she said she wanted all grouse shooting stopped before quickly orrecting it to driven grouse shooting. Last point, anyone that is breaking the law in the name of "conservation" or "wildlife management" should realise they are doing Packham, Avery and Tingay a huge service and doing a huge disservice to all the rural communities in the UK. Great job, thanks very much and membership subscription trebled to hopefully help out. All the best, CJ
I think its about time BASC made Charlie their spokesperson as I've heard more in the defence of the shooting industry in half an hour than I have heard out of anyone else period...... well done Charlie keep the pressure on.....I think you may have them reaching for a bird book... great also to see the fact brought up as well but how you get those three to read them is beyond me as they dont understand the concept of truth...
Very well done Charlie and all the more so for doing it in the lions den! I really appreciate that you are engaging in debate rather than building walls and do it in a friendly and intelligent manner. Good show.
Says a lot about someone’s arguments when they have to constantly make like snide digs at someone unlike Charlie that stuck to the facts and made them stubble and trip over their own argument. Charlie you stayed professional from start to finish and I commend you! Thank you for standing up for those that chose our way of life. Love the show! All the way of Perth Australia!
Well done Charlie. A shame this couldn't have also happened at the Game Fair. Togive some balance to the audiences. Join this channel and support the work the FSB guys are doing.
My heartfelt thanks to you Charlie for taking part in the interview/debate.I absolutely applaud your continued efforts in support of our cause. I have no idea how the system works, but am continually frustrated with any media debate, whereby the time allowance is so restrictive that questions and statements are not fully answered or quantified. I feel, despite your very best efforts, that it was a prime opportunity lost, to educate some of the public into the misdirection that Packham, Avery, and Tingay are so skilled at, with of course their media backing. When Chris talked of carbon footprints, I would have questioned him on his personal business interests/gains and therefore his contribution of C02, and then asked the public to Google it. The recent success of the Hen Harriers on managed Grouse moors, etc. I do feel, its potentially dangerous to ask them questions and then not to supply the real answer, and just hope the public are confused. I would like to see that the public are educated into understanding the untruthful propaganda put forward behind these three individuals. Thank you again Charlie. Please continue to uphold our way of life Kind regards Marc
Well done Charlie. I think you did a great job in hostile ground. I also think it was very arrogant for Mike Avery to say that I'm a scientist therefore I know and your not so you don't.
Congratulations Charlie. You held your ground and kept the other 3 in check with actual facts rather than opinion, educating a hostile audience. You represented the field sports side fantastically. Keep up the good work
Love him or hate him,Chris packham can have a civilised, sensible, respectful debate, which is better then the emotive shouting slanging matches that often occur.
Seriously well done Charlie! That takes guts, intelligence and major effort! Our industry can't thank you enough for what you're doing on a daily basis now! 👏👏👏
Well done Charlie, we need more representatives from the shooting community like yourself to educate the masses. It's always going to be a struggle to make people from city lives understand the country life.
I myself am a shooter, what Charlie has done here took courage, he went into a hostile environment where he couldn’t win! But he did his best to fight his corner. People may criticise me for this, but the way I interpret Chris Packam is pretty simple. He understands the conservation needs of shooting and the work the game keepers and land owners do. As a community why do BASC or DEFRA not sit down and produce a scheme of some description for moors and land owners to buy into. Throughout the season record all data, how many foxes taken, how many poults lost to predators. Create a suitable list of traps, record data from the success of these traps etc. Surely then we can call some sort of truce on the situation. We provide the evidence that they want, we record the numbers of hen barriers, golden plover etc. If a bird is caught in a trap record this. Again in my opinion, the shooting community just want to hate this man and his cronies. Why can we not take on board his criticisms, focus on improving us as a community and growing.... instead of letting them tell more lies and spout false data to their growing followers!! Give them accurate recorded data from responsible land owners! People can then enjoy days on the moor shooting, knowing that they are doing so on a responsible owners land who follow identified laid down best practices!
"hostile environment" The Bird Fair - hostile environment Jesus H. I've seen some idiotic comments on here like "Charlie got balls" ha ha ha but your Richard is by far the most deluded of all. Give the man a coconut.
Charlie I salute you. Well done. I was recently discussing with a shooting buddy how the entire "them and us" situation has been recently and how change needs to come about, something which you also have eluded to recently. A debate with Wild Justice and representing the shooting communities voice has been a long time coming, and I am so glad that you have been a lead in this. Its such a shame that organisations much larger than Fieldsports Britain (one of which I am a member) have not pursued challenging Wild Justice to the same level you have. I would gladly cancel my membership to this national body and sign up to FSB today as I feel you have now made a massive in-road to having a sensible discussion and preserving what so many of us believe in. The issue that gets me is that "them and us" are on two ends of the spectrum, however their view, their support, their ability to shout louder seems more apparent. I believe the way that change will come about would be in two ways. One, the science behind how managed moorlands and grouse shooting is beneficial, so these are the statistics, research, etc.. Secondly in a visual way, which is Fieldsports core strength, showing clearly how moorlands and grouse shooting is carried out and the biodiversity it provides. There is a story to be told here and it would be great to capture what is done and why it is done, putting to bed any claim that WJ is making.
How uneasy did Avery and Tingay look, Peckham is quite good when put on the spot, avoid him, the other two are ripe to say something that would hurt their cause, focus on them. well done Fieldsports well done charlie.
Thanks charlie, thought you had taken too much on there, glad you proved me wrong. I really do on individual occasions think some of the photographic evidence is set up for the media drums. Keep the pressure on them Field Sports channel
Its sad that the lack of education in the people who don't know anything about what they are talking about do they even know why they're against it or do they just need something to be angry about Also first
Well done Charlie. How the hell you managed to keep your cool when talking to three infuriating know-alls who actually know f-all is beyond me. It's taken me a while to watch this all the way through because I kept losing my rag with the smug bastards.
Sorry but I,m afraid he was taken as a joke,he was in the lions den and Chris and company had their fans to help them,Charlie did well but he had a mountain to conquer, get them on level ground and we will see what Charlie is made of,he has to counter their lies and myths and show them the reality of their proposals and what it will really achieve just for their agenda. We are looking at a wildlife desert with little income and less jobs and the break up of rural communities, another clearance of the moors and uplands, they will be singing ballads for hundreds of years of the break up of the land.
Charlie you are a frikkin' legend. Trying to find a point of contact with those who do not wish to find that middle point. Like Daniel you've entered the lion's den. More power to you! The voice of reason, amidst the clatter of bullshit. I REALLY love you to bits Charlie.
This is the help and support we need face to face discussions, bringing up the discussions and facts well done Charlie keep up the good work:-) you should work for basc or country side alliance give them some gee up!! All the best
How patronising is Chris Packham ? Yes all the welsh sheep farmers can just diversify with tea rooms and pony trekking such a generalisation of an industry furthermore why should people give up there land ? Remember where your lentils com from ! Not to mention soya milk !
Charlie you are the man! You held your head high. Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee were their usual bumpsios selves and the poison dwarf a poor support act.
Well done for facing them. The man with the blue t-shirt nailed it - there needs to be more dialogue with the gun group. This will forge a settlement of some sorts rather than the draconian out right ban they are pushing for.
As a young man as a bird watcher I never heard of any hen harriers in Northern Ireland, just lately they are breeding here now and from my observation the BASC have had a great impact on informing shooters as to their impact on environmental issues and due diligence.
Sham it's to little consiquence, but big thanks to Charlie and the Feild Sports Channel for making an effort and fighting out side. Keep up the good work
It’s great you got to do this just a shame it couldn’t have been longer, 3 plus a crowd against 1 didn’t give you the time needed but still a big thumbs up 👍
You are a very brave man Charlie and your knowledge of these statistics had to be pin point accurate since they would dissect every little thing you said looking for mistakes in their view.
Well done Charlie! These guys have very narrow vision. 100% right with regards to managed moors. The counts are always massively higher on managed compared to none managed! None managed often appear baron of life! I’m currently on a managed moor and it’s full of life! Snipe, golden plover, grouse etc! A moor next door is baron because it’s not managed! And no one would use a fen trap to kill a BOP! Very few in the shooting world will agree with killing raptors! I’m a falconer as well as shooter. Keepers put extra birds down on pheasant/partridge shoots to cover natural waste! This helps raptor numbers, simple.
@@droitwichblue you need a hearing aid and a visit to Specsavers, he told the facts as they are not fairy stories by his three apponents, and by the way I have never worked in a circus 🤔
I am not an expert or have great knowledge of running a Driven Grouse Moor but one thing I am convinced of do away with it ,a lot of owners will not look after moors to the same level of care or management because walked up will not offer margin over costs 50/75 % of keepers jobs would be lost that's with out all staff that look after a day's shooting plus hotel income but one thing I am positive of if it happens then you will see a real decline in all other species birds of pray will increase for sure for a few years until they have eaten up the population of Grouse that is left then what happens they will eat a large portion of the other birds that are left and so they decline.
Well done 👍 this needs to be shown across main stream media to show the public what lies they keep spouting to try and stop perfectly legal country persuites of taking place.
Thanks. One of our aims is to change the grouse-shooting story. BBC researchers will have to watch this and realise there is more to the story than Revive is telling them / Charlie
Hello oldgooner Unfortunately that series is currently unavailable. Which is a bit surprising as it's the current series and I could watch strawberry picking from 2017 if I wished! Are the BBC trying to hide something?! Thank you for taking the time to give me an informed response. Marcus.
If the big man could get up to the grouse up these hills I'll give him a £10 (£10more than the beaters). If this show was in Scotland it would be very different show of hands.🏴 Good on you Charlie. These people are not living the tales they spin.
Well done for a controlled debate and good on you for doing so in front of a hostile audience. I wonder if the three were invited to have the same debate in front of a shooting bias audience whether the would show up?
Charlie, your willingness to engage with shooting's detractors in so open a forum is to be commended. It is debating of this ilk that flushes out the weak arguments, the falsehoods and the opinions that have no factual tether. And with names like Packham, Tingay and Avery on stage to draw in the antis , the true benefit is that a wider non-shooting audience get to sift for the truth as the diatribe position of their doyens are tested. Bravo.
Thank you Charlie, for going into the Lions den and pulling its tail. I would like to see the other shooting organisations actively support Charlie and the Field sports channel . We all need to go in one direction and not stutter and stumble along as we are. I would cancel my BASC membership if the FSC offered the same thing. I think its time for a change.
Fun fact: corvids such as magpies were almost completely wiped out by gamekeepers, and it’s only until recently their numbers have got back to a stable level. Yet many people want to cull them not because they care about songbirds but they want to protect gamebirds. Most gamekeepers use birds like curlews to further their argument when in actual fact most gamekeepers wouldn’t give a toss if they went extinct, as long as they get unnaturally high numbers of grouse to blast into oblivion they are happy
Tingay 'dont tell me that you dont no how they r' Charlie 'no i dont and i would like you to tell me who they are' Tingay 'read the blog' ... yeh really helpful
well done charlie. One question all three of them put their hands up to support shooting for the pot. Yet the new General Licence GL31 to shoot pigeon does not allow us to shoot for the pot.
Evening Charlie Watched this a couple of days ago . I'm sure you're aware, but you've opened quite a doorway here at 0:46; I was a little surprised to be honest. My past has seem me interview a good number of frequently hostile parties and hats off, your approach was good. I presume you've had some input re the process; if not, well done. I've left commenting for a couple of days so as to chew over the reason behind the choreographed handraising. Ruth struggled with it, but left and right of her were evidently more convinced of the benefits. I think there is a good reason behind their decision and it is based on their recognition of an obstacle, (IMHO). Guessing you have your own view on it. Looks like you have a bit to consider Charlie. Be careful, Mr Packham isn't stupid; arrogant yes, but not stupid. I think the hand raising was a well considered move. Ruth struggles to restrain her contempt and Mr. Avery is far too eager, but Chris is a little more measured. Lots the think about ay.
Charlie hats off to you. You stood your ground and I would 100% say you won the WHOLE debate. P.S. Keep up the sly jabs that you gave. They would do the same to you!
I felt the opportunity to refute actions and lies was not made well enough on this occasion. Well done for getting on the stage and receiving some assurances from the opposition but I don't think the audience left with any thought provocing comments from our side of the fence. Maybe clarity on subjects discussed needs to be more forthcoming especially when having this type of opportunity. And not the points which where at times quickly passed over, some I even misunderstood. Keep it up Charlie.
Thanks for this. I didn't want to get bogged down into a Mark Avery yes-you-are-no-I'm-not fight, so I had to let most of the facts go. I knew that, because we owned the media, we would have time to provide factcheck captions. I had a long list of questions to ask, to get them out into the public media. I only had time to do two... I hope there's a next time. / Charlie
Well done Charlie, you are doing more to defend the sport then most!

One hell of a job there, Charlie. Great work, very professional, incredibly impressive.

I wonder if the three were invited to have the same debate in front of a shooting bias audience whether the would show up?
Good effort Charlie. Can’t fight stupid with logic but well done.
I like how insults seem to be the main ammo of these people.
Well they have to use some thing as they are short on facts.
Great work Charlie. We need more like you.
There Are None So Blind
As Those Who Will Not See. You may have been out numbered but the facts speak volumes.
Get on Charlie! Well done!
Avery looks like a sweaty mess 😂 brilliant well done Charlie brilliant job .

ONE MAN V 200 Tree huggers
well done charlie. One question all three of them put
their hands up to support shooting for the pot. Yet the new General Licence GL31 to shoot pigeon does not allow us to shoot for the pot.
They suddenly slip behind the line: 'Well, it's the law, you know'. Law? My elbow. /Charlie
@@fieldsportstv Elbow? I would have used an "A" and two S's
There that far up there own arses it’s crazy fair play keeping your cool Charlie I wouldn’t have be able too
Evening Charlie
Watched this a couple of days ago .
Charlie's 100 billion brain cells against their 3 unfair contest lol
Well done Charlie you have given the establishment a bloody nose
Charlie
Bloody well done Charlie!
Where did I thank him?
