thank you for making this video ive been searching everywhere for something like this 😭 i can only learn things when theyre development is explained in chronological order so this is such a life saver ive been wanting to learn poetic mechanisms and genres for so long now would love to see sort of like an updated version of this video i think that’d be really cool
As others have said, Gilgamesh was not Greek. Furthermore, and I know this video is old, but you really should change it to reflect what you are actually talking about. That is, a brief history of western poetry.
There are poets who use pieces of all these elements to create 1poem. Use the 1st stanza as a sonnet, 2nd stanza free verse, 3rd more of slam, and end by using haiku

Hay thanks , but you have missed a great deal of history of poetry , the Arabian Poetry , an amazing poetry that was a very deep and advanced compared to even the later poetry , they were in years 400-600 , and because they were so good , they hang them in the Kabaah , The Seven Odes

Slam poetry and hip hop...not going there. You forgot to mention poets like William Stafford and James Wright and many others who were writing during the Sixties. Many unknown poets too were important, for example, Benjamin Saltman annd Bert Meyers, but countless others. Some published by small presses. The poem is important, not waving one's arms about calling attention to the person and not the poem. Personally, I can't stand performance poetry. You also failed to mention important poets like W.S. Merwin.
