Album: The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion
Song: 99 lbs
Lyrics:
Twenty-five pounds of pure cane sugar
She's got in each and every kiss
You wouldn't know what I'm talking 'bout
If you never had a love like this
Well, I don't mean to be frank with you all
It's a natural fact
Good things come wrapped up in small, small packages now
Well you can't argue with that
Oh, oh, yeah
Ninety-nine pounds of natural born goodness
Ninety-nine pounds of soul, oh, oh
Ninety-nine pounds of natural born goodness
Ninety-nine pounds of soul
Twenty-five pounds of tenderness
She got in each and every touch
Twenty-five pounds of understanding my woman
'Cause I was the one running 'round town worrying too much
Twenty-four pounds of Sunday
That I can't see, yeah
And it all adds up to ninety-nine big pounds
Oh, I'm talking about a feline friend
Ninety-nine pounds of natural born goodness
Ninety-nine pounds of soul
Ninety-nine pounds of natural born goodness
Ninety-nine pounds of soul
Ninety-nine pounds of natural born goodness
Ninety-nine pounds of soul
Ninety-nine pounds of natural born goodness
Ninety-nine pounds of soul
Ninety-nine pounds of natural born goodness
Ninety-nine pounds of soul
Ninety-nine pounds of natural born goodness
Ninety-nine pounds of soul
Enjoy ^^
This is miles better than the 2023 mix. God, I miss this era of the band.
At the age of 13 I saw Humble Pie and then ended up being my favorite band. In 1990 when the Black Crowes came out I thought they sounded like Humble Pie and Stones. I’ve seen them 11 times and each show was better than the last one. When I got married the whole wedding party went to a BC show. This band rocks. To bad the brothers broke up such a great band!
Steve Marriott❤
Brilliant homage to the legendary Humble Pie
Composed by Don Bryant, first release Anne Peebles. But Humble Pie's version is so awesome. I listen over and over.
@@laabsenceofcol8079 The '70s all-female rock band, Birtha, did a killer version of this song also, but unfortunately they never recorded it. Only a bad quality live film performance.
@methaqualone5191 sounds cool. Being Australian, I missed alot of good music. Are they on utube?
Steve Marriott/Humble Pie is my favorite of all time, but Chris does a great job singing this.
🥧🥧is the best❤
LOVE THE GUITAR PLAY ON THIS ONE THANK YOU '' BLACK CROWES ''
Marc Ford
this is f****n brilliant...steve marriott is groovin up there in heaven
Groovy cover of The Pie. Freak n Roll baby
Humble Pie's was a cover as well, originally recorded by Ann Peebles
Really dig this! Love the rock peace sign❣️. Chris's gritty vocals fit the tune to a T. I got the 99 pounds of sugar AND the 25 pounds of understanding if you need them. ❤
What a great Humble Pie cover!
This song was written by Don Bryant from Memphis TN for soul singer Ann Peeples. Don & Ann co-wrote "I Can't Stand The Rain" as well. Both these songs were covered by the great Steve Marriott and Humble Pie. The Crowes always sounded like The Pie.
@@gregcrabtree5398 Don is still rocking on in at 77. Here he is on Jam in the Van from just a few weeks ago.

Loved the Crowes after hearing their first album, bought them all through "Lions" I think. This was/is my favorite.....hands down....with "Shake Your Moneymaker" & "Three Snakes & One Charm" (very underrated) close behind. This is a nice little bonus & a kick-ass tune off this one. That's one reason I immediately liked them, a 70s' "vibe"...that had been missing for me through the 80s'. You heard their influences, H. Pie, Stones, L. Zep, S. Faces, ect,. Loved em' in 91 & still do.KEEP ROCKIN' !!
Sooooooooooo good!!!!
A respectable cover of the Humble Pie original. Of course, Chris Robinson is Steve Marroitt and Rod Stewart's bastard child, so it makes perfect sense.
Ann Peebles original, Humble Pie rocked it out
@@dryrubribs It turns out that co-writer Don Bryant is still making music. Here he is with Jam in the Van just a few weeks ago. ruclips.net/video/YIZ6OTOvUdc/видео.html
Not a humble pie origina, they civer it too
@much2muchfun I can dig it. Rock on brudder. Missing Marriott & the boys today.. We need his talent out here today. The Crowes obviously worshipped at the throne of Humble Pie. OH yeaaaah!
slowburner ,,,, has this song pegged best version ever
Steve Marriott was amazing with Humble Pie and the Small Faces. If you guys want to hear a really great hard rocking cover version of this great old song look up an unknown 1990s band called Circle Of Soul. They covered this song on their debut album that went nowhere unfortunately. Honestly, while this Black Crowes version works fine enough, the Circle Of Soul version is harder rocking and they changed up some lines that sound really cool. But it's all good. All these versions and the original.
With Jesus as your lead singer, anything is possible.
Its Jesus Chris Robinson
Kings of rock!
fuckin sweet , B.Crowes . one of the best modern bands ever!
Pure class
Steve mariott and rod Stewart had a baby they called him Chris Robinson
clocking in at 420...coincidence? i think not
this is sooo.... good!
Okay... this was great, how have I missed this!? Wow..
Fantastic cover!!
Fantastic
@junior7689 Humnle Pie may have covered this tune way back when and did a great job like TBC however it's really an Ann Peebles ,,,look that version up to appreciate the lyrics.. Also Look up her original version of "Somebody's on your Case" ..>This is another tune TBC covered as well.
fuck me! i did not know they covered pie, hell yeah too rock N roll
They are the faces
lets go rock n roll people,,
Great song. I've been listening to this for about a week now and found it here. They lyrics aren't 100% correct though.
Humble Dis Pie...
fuck yeah, that what i'm talkin about!
Its a Ann Peebles cover
Yes, an Ann Peebles song. She influenced Steve Marriot of Humble Pie and The Black Crowes have always been Humble Pie disciples.
how do ya know he's up in heaven
Is Marc playing lead on this ?
zerowski of course. SHMC b side. I have the Euro vinyl!
Not on the 2023 remix..😂 all but removed.
