Just wanted to say thank you for the review Lemmy and crew. I work in the audiovisual industry and understand the logistics involved. It is astonishing you guys are a store and produce such high quality videos. I tip my helmet to you and want to make sure you know the details are noticed and the work appreciated!
Great review. Indian has been on my radar for a while now. I have a strong feeling I'll be adding the Springfield to my collection once my Road Glide is paid off.
A vastly underrated bike. After riding so many Harley’s, I’ve been blown away by the performance, finish and fuss-free ownership of the Springfield: The Thinking Man’s cruiser.
Tony Vasconcelos that's right. Obviously the Honda grom is a much better looking bike than this Springfield. But the Springfield sure does have my interest more than any Harley I've ever ridden... Even that sportster 72 . ... God that's a nice bike to ride and look at
This is my dream bike. I test rode one about a year ago and it rode every bit as nice as Lemmy says. One thing he didn't mention so much was the low speed compliance. I'm 5'6" and could flat-foot both feet at the same time on this bike. It never once made me feel nervous about the weight and it never felt too big even in stop-and-go city traffic. Polaris really nailed it with this bike IMO!
Brilliant review as always. Indian seem to have shown Harley Davidson how it's really done. Far superior in every way. I love Harley but the Indian range is next level stuff. Too long have Harley sat on the back burning by not updating it's brand. I test rode a Scout 1130 yesterday, what an amazing bike. Handling, engine, comfort, styling. Matte grey paint with light tan bags, amazing. Suspension was great too (all in my opinion) Next bike is the Scout for sure. I wonder where Harley will go from here. Any thoughts??
They'll probably work on improving the Street 500 and 750, as those are aspirational bikes in emerging markets. They'll also likely expand the use of the Twin-Cooled Motor as well as sell more trikes. -DrewZilla
I test rode this bike last week and it was phenomenal. As someone who has only owned sport bikes, the comfort was incredible and the suspension, as you mentioned, ate everything. My wife was in love. Testing the new Road King tomorrow but the wife pretty much has her heart set on the Indian, and I nearly do too at this point.
You need to do more Indian motorcycle reviews, your reviews are great and really show an unbiased opinion on what the bikes really are, I love them, keep doing big things Revzilla, huge reason I buy from you are your videos! 👍🏻
I'm not a fan of touring cruisers, but that bike is a beauty without that windshield! Oh and Lemmy STILL reigns supreme as the best motorcycle reviewer on RUclips....Spurgeon would take a close second for the Triumph Thruxton review he did. ;) Can't wait for that 883 Iron review!
PeterDad60: How about this... you stop trying to be a insulting twat, and redirect that energy back into your guitar and singing? Maybe that way you wouldn't look like such a pathetic untalented douchebag making a fool of himself in your videos. Just a thought.
Well up here in Canada the Springfield goes for $26200. The RoadKing with ABS $22700. I can take the saved 3500 bucks and upgrade the HD suspension to match or best the Springfield, and have money left over. If the RoadKing is the target... Indian missed it . Great looking bike though. Polaris has done a good job across the range
First, Revzilla is the best! Second, Lemmy, you are one awesome dude and great at reviews! I think Ronica's Ride would look awesome filmed from the seat of this bike!
Nice review Lemmy I have the Indian Dark Horse and Im 6'2" and 95kg I installed the Aeromach floorboard lowering kit to accommodate my height which works well As you mentioned the Thunderstroke 111 is a very powerful and torquey engine From Perth Western Australia thankyou..☺
My friend has a CVO Street Glide, we went to a new Indian dealer here in England where my friend test rode the Springfield, reckons it's the best handling bagger he's ever rode, he wants one now and it's my fault for taking him.
You're my second favourite Motorcycles reviewer. Next to Matt Laidlaw. Keep up the good work. And I have seen many hundreds reviews. You guys are the best.
Looking very much forward to a much more in-depth review of the bike along with some suggested upgrades for a little extra performance oomph (breathers, pipes, fuel-pack if any) like with Harleys.
Boys and their toys, yep broke open the piggy bank and bought my 17 Indian Vintage blue/cream. They delivered it on Halloween day. A lot to learn about it but my horn still won't work?? It's brand new? It's the smoothest bike I ever owned, before I had a Yahama Roadstar Silverado 1600. Put over 80k on it. I got my money works out of it, I bought an extended warranty on it but nothing happened. My 17 Indian Heritage is so quiet shifts easy rides like a dream I don't regret buying it now I'm just enjoying it.
Another awesome review you guys are the best. I am a Harley man but I hate to say other companies are starting to pull at my heart strings a little and Indian is one of them.
great review man. covered all the discussion topics clearly. I love this new bike, it looks like the 1948 chief 80" I have in the garage. my grandpa rode it out here to california from oaklahoma in '53 its taken apart now (has been since 72) but I hope to put it back together. He just passed away 2/17/16 and would have loved this new springfield. thanks for the review.
I had a chance to test ride this bike yesterday in Indianapolis. It was a bike with only 5 test miles on it that the mechanic put on and was the only Springfield in the dealership cuz Indian sent every dealership exactly one bike. I loved it, it is silky smooth, sounds great, handles awesome, turns like you wouldnt believe an 850 pound beast that low to the ground could. I would pick the lower windshield or eliminate it altogether. Other than that and the well known right thigh roasting heat coming off the engine, there is nothing that needs improvement. If I had the cash I would buy it no question.
Bike is solid, fast and fun. I was little disappointed you didnt have riding lights on with war bonnet lit while you were riding.. Either way awesome review
Lemmy how was the fit did you feel like you were sitting on the bike or in the bike? And has the seat put the rider back a little bit more than other models? Great reviews as always. Thanks!
+Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C Here's what Lemmy had to say about it: _"The fit was comfy for me. I'm six feet tall and ring in around 275, and I was not cooped up. I tend to gravitate towards bikes built on large frames for that exact reason. I did not feel the seat was very far back at all; I was in the classic touring position of hands in front and a little low, and my feet slightly ahead with legs bent somewhere near a 90° angle. I definitely was not sitting in the bike, I was on it, which I personally prefer. Being on the bike keeps my legs from being wadded up, and on a real low "sitting in the bike" type of motorcycle, I feel uncomfortable. Of course, like everything else in this world, that's just a personal opinion and you may feel totally differently."_ Hope Lemmy was able able to answer your question! -DrewZilla
If only I wasn’t 14, it’d be nice to own a bike like this. I’m gonna try to get my job permit when I’m 15 and hopefully get a job to save up for a cheaper bike that looks like this. I’d get my permit now, because my state’s minimum working age is 14, most places wouldn’t hire a 14 year old, and I currently have a pretty busy schedule this school year.
i have a question, i ride fatboy 107 and i was wondering do i neeed to buy a new airfilter and tuner if i want to change the exhaust system and what if i only want to add a mufler , will still be air filter and tuner required?
I love the Indians with the 111 engine in it the Heritage and the Springfield they are one of the few motorcycles built nowadays that are decent to look at but the Indians are beautiful. And you never hear anybody saying a bad word about having problems with them.
Polaris makes some cool looking retro bikes. It has no relationship to the real Indian bikes, but it's still cool. My only concern is that they are priced like Harley's but I'm not sure the resale will be as good (like with the Victory).
I can see the guys back in the 40s repairing a flat front tire. Their final words before they split "screw the fender. it's too hot out" thus the 'bobber look'
Great review, but wish it was longer and gave more details. Love the Springfield... best over all option. Looks like a motorcycle should, not like so many that are show rooms for tupper-ware
I love the Springfield, but to be honest, for the money I'd be more interested in the Roadmaster, which I rented for a week from EagleRiders in Las Vegas last November. If your shooting for that much money, and looking for comfort, the Roadmaster was hands down a better bike. Big beer box, which lit up when open, panniers huge enough to keep all the wife's shopping in, a windsheild with touch controls up and down, and the 111 engine that effortlessly kept me at 110 mph through the long stretches of endless desert roads.
Lemmy can you test the Chief Classic or Dark Horse too... love the reviews from Spurge and you... first class reviews... I am in for a new bike... and tell Spurge to hop on the Triumph Bonneville T120 and the new Bopper... Greetings
nice video sir.i am planning to buy new bike for long roads like heavy duty bike.indian or HD and which model.plz let me know your opinion means a lot for me.
One would have to go outta their way to get the bling with Harley, props to Indian for doing it out right. It seems now a days a Harley buyer would spend a fortune trying to accumulate some chrome.
How was the heat? I have a scout that cooks my leg pretty good in traffic recently decided to upsize to something touring and debating either the Springfield or road king, I test road the RK and didn't feel much heat and being from south Texas that's a huge one for me. Also how was the lean angle compared to road king? Lots of tasty twisty roads in the hill country and I don't wanna be dragging metal through every turn.
hey guys, ive been geeking out watching your reviews. you do a great job. hey i am interestes in a scout. im 6'2" and worried about the fit. touring bikes are out of my price range but cruisers seem small to me. any suggestions?
+Danny Amspacher You should be fine on the Scout, especially since Indian offers seats in a few different heights. If you can, you really should find an Indian dealer, so that you can go sit on one. That's how you'll know for sure. -DrewZilla
even tho i dont like cruisers, and my fav bikes are the s1000rr and the Husqvarna nuda 900r, dam, that shit looks and sounds good, it must be so nice to do long rides with it
I'm ready for a cruiser- so I tested the Rd King Rd King Special and the Springfield. The Indian was nice but I preferred the new M8 & i had more smiles on the new Road Kings. So that's what I'm getting next. Good job on the videos of both and for being objective .
Beautiful bike but I bought the Road king. It's just better made with quality parts. They really cheap out on the Indian which surprised me. I liked the springfields suspension but liked the Harley for everything else.
Revzilla and Lemmy, the "60 Minutes" of bike reviews, it's journalism folks. I get copywriter dibs on that by the way. But I was wondering how this bike compares to the leather saddled bagged Chieftain? Is it basically the same bike (i.e. frame, geometry, etc.), but with hard bags?
+D Ebelt The Chieftain also has hard bags, so you may be referring to the Chief Vintage. The Springfield is different than the Chieftain and Chief Vintage, as Indian says the Springfield has an all-new, purpose-built chassis. Though both the Chieftain and Springfield have a 25 degree rake, the Chieftain has 5.9 in. (150mm) of trail, whereas the Springfield has 5.2 in. (133mm) of trail. The Chief Vintage has a 29 degree rake and 155mm trail. The Chieftain has a 65.7 in. wheelbase compared to 67 in. on the Springfield. The longer Chief Vintage has a 68.1 in. wheelbase. -DrewZilla
Lemmy's reviews are quite good so I can overlook the nose ring, I guess he really likes chrome and I must say I'm old. Probably one of the beat in reviewers. Pretty fair observations and never gushes unless he's really genuinely impressed. He can find the positives in a bike and doesn't let the negatives go and offers solid advice of what he recommends to correct it.
They're relatively quick-detach, as you have to unplug the wires for the electric locks. Take a look at the link below. -DrewZilla *www.indianmotorcycle.com/en-us/self-help/article/KA-01097/
+Jiro Hen We won't have a video review of the Scout Sixty, but you can read our first ride review via the link below. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/indian-scout-sixty-first-ride
5 years and 47k miles later, I'm still in love with my Springfield
Just bought a Springfield this week because of this review, got me to go try one and I loved it.
that's a cruiser I might actually buy. so much nicer than the harley in my opinion.
without the issues
I'm a sportbike guy and Lemmy has me liking this Indian! Great review... He is really getting next level on these...
Just wanted to say thank you for the review Lemmy and crew. I work in the audiovisual industry and understand the logistics involved. It is astonishing you guys are a store and produce such high quality videos. I tip my helmet to you and want to make sure you know the details are noticed and the work appreciated!
7 1/2 years. Still going strong. Still in love with my Springfield
This guy is awesome, never a boring review!!!
I know right, he could review the ugliest bike in the world and I’d enjoy the review.
Great review. Indian has been on my radar for a while now. I have a strong feeling I'll be adding the Springfield to my collection once my Road Glide is paid off.
Yooo Lemmy you drove straight by me on this bike!!! I was in St Augustine when I saw you guys riding around the area recording the bike
sick!
A vastly underrated bike. After riding so many Harley’s, I’ve been blown away by the performance, finish and fuss-free ownership of the Springfield:
The Thinking Man’s cruiser.
Wow in a very short time the new indian company surpass harley ,this is a beutiful and the best looking big bike on the market.

That tells how much you know about motorcycles.....
Tony Vasconcelos that's right. Obviously the Honda grom is a much better looking bike than this Springfield. But the Springfield sure does have my interest more than any Harley I've ever ridden... Even that sportster 72 . ... God that's a nice bike to ride and look at

It's a well balanced bike for sure.
Brilliant review as always.

It took a whole new life when that windshield came off. Wow
I test rode this bike last week and it was phenomenal. As someone who has only owned sport bikes, the comfort was incredible and the suspension, as you mentioned, ate everything. My wife was in love. In BC Calgary and winipeg it is $27,300
I would buy it for 22 grand not $27,300.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Common tread needs it's own channel! Great video team 'Zilla :)
Fantastic idea.

I can't wait to take the Springfield out for a test ride.
Thanks for showing her off to us Lemmy!
Love it!!
INDIAN ROCKS!!
Thanks Lemmy!!
Lemmy, thanks for the quick review and hope you get the chance to do a more in-depth review in the future.

I have a 16 Springfield and love it. This is a pretty solid review of the bike, well done.
I like it, if I could go cruising, I'd definitely consider that bike.
Love how this guy reviews bikes

Oh you should have restored that bike years ago thinking of all the enjoyment you could have had in the 50 years since that bike was put up.
The Indian dark horse Springfield is my next purchase 👌 Indian has some gorgeous bikes!!!!!

Another stellar bike video!!!
Awesome review, keep this thing going!
Love the reviews Lemy!
Please compare Indian's 3 Dark Horse offerings!
I'm leaning Springfield Darkhorse myself.
Lemmy does the most outstanding revues of any I've ever seen.
great review looking to buy this within the month
I started selling my Harley collection about a year ago. I have one bike left and then I'm off to check out these sweet looking Indian's!
Bike is solid, fast and fun. I was little disappointed you didnt have riding lights on with war bonnet lit while you were riding.. Either way awesome review

VERY CONSISE AND CLEAR AND STILL BAD ASS REVIEW,LOVE YOU REVIEWS
Great work on this first ride review. I watched it because #Lemmy!

awesome bike, tempted to swap my Vintage for one!

And I do like that bike..wonder if it will come to the UK?
+Nigel Tabb According to Indian's UK site, the answer is YES! -DrewZilla

Good review. Need to do this more often
Cheers Lemmy, awesome horse and a cruise with clout. I feel inheritance coming on, that motor would be a big comfort in my loss!
I can see the guys back in the 40s repairing a flat front tire. Their final words before they split "screw the fender. it's too hot out" thus the 'bobber look'
It's a tossup between the indian vintage or this one.
Don't like cruisers only watched the video for awesome Lemmy!
me too! lemmy for president
I love cruisers and I'd watch Lemmy's ride a Big Wheel. He is awesome.
+the8jrfan Word!
+the8jrfan If you don't like cruisers, why are you watching and complaining? Why don't you let us all enjoy what makes us happy?
+Jack Nelson should be banned from this channel for bringing negativity in such a positive display of bikers!!Lemmy for president!!
Both are great options. We recommend you go take a test ride of both Indian and HD bikes. -DrewZilla
Nice review dude...
Thank you, Hagrid!
Lemmy's carisma sets his reviews apart from everybody else's
It's a Chief Vintage with hard bags and some other pricey accessories, so at least the "distressed leather" won't fade away to nothing.
Beautiful Bike, The Video is very good. the edition is superb
9 thumbs down from people who want lemmys job! Amazing review as usual.
watch cuz of Lemmy
One would have to go outta their way to get the bling with Harley, props to Indian for doing it out right. It seems now a days a Harley buyer would spend a fortune trying to accumulate some chrome.
How would you compare the feel and ride of this to the vintage?
The Springfield is a bit more nimble at low speed and tight places. The rake is shorter on them.
Sounds like I won't be disappointed either way I go especially with 18s coming out soon for both.
hey guys, ive been geeking out watching your reviews. you do a great job. hey i am interestes in a scout. im 6'2" and worried about the fit. touring bikes are out of my price range but cruisers seem small to me. any suggestions?
+Danny Amspacher You should be fine on the Scout, especially since Indian offers seats in a few different heights. If you can, you really should find an Indian dealer, so that you can go sit on one. That's how you'll know for sure. -DrewZilla
Good little review. It's actually a 2016 model by the way, not 2017. Shame they only come in red and black :(
Lemmy does some great reviews
Hey Lemmy, would you guys review older bikes? if you get your hands on a vtx 1800, please review? I would like to see your opinion on it. thanks.
+Mr. Céspedes Right now, we're focusing on newer bikes, but there's always a chance we'd review older bikes. -DrewZilla
even tho i dont like cruisers, and my fav bikes are the s1000rr and the Husqvarna nuda 900r, dam, that shit looks and sounds good, it must be so nice to do long rides with it
As always ....good review.
Great review!
awesome vid lemmy
i love it without that ugly windshield...that front fender is just audacious!
And bodacious!
Love your reviews.
I'm ready for a cruiser- so I tested the Rd King Rd King Special and the Springfield. The Indian was nice but I preferred the new M8 & i had more smiles on the new Road Kings. So that's what I'm getting next. Good job on the videos of both and for being objective .
this guy knows his stuff !
would be awesome if you guys at RevZilla did a review on the Husqvarna 701 SM and åthe KTM 690 SMC-R :)
+MrSwimmer Z Well the KTM isn't sold in the US anymore, so we probably wouldn't review it, but we might review the Husky! -DrewZilla
+RevZilla what? really?
+MrSwimmer Z Yes. In the US, KTM sells the 690 Duke and the 690 Enduro R but not the SMC. -DrewZilla
Beautiful bike but I bought the Road king. It's just better made with quality parts. They really cheap out on the Indian which surprised me. I liked the springfields suspension but liked the Harley for everything else.
Guys please do a review on the chief dark horse ! Please !!!
Great review
G’day Lenny love your approach, very informative cool stuff Trev SYDNEY DOWN UNDER 👍
great video brother
Not realt a fan if bikes like that one... But! Looks like a dream to take it on a long coast trip!

I love indian much nicer bike than other competitors
No way in hell I would ride with this guy. He's dangerous.
Are those bags quick detach?
They're relatively quick-detach, as you have to unplug the wires for the electric locks. Take a look at the link below. -DrewZilla
