This year I did a dry start. Literally added soil, drift wood and rock, I then planted plant fertiliser tablets about 10cm apart. I planted the monte carlo in lines. I then filled up the tank added all the aqua safe stuff and had the light going throughout most of the day. About 3weeks later tested water and added fish. Started with some pleco and then guppies and barbs. Other than having top-up water every other week, I never have to clean the tank or do water changes. (Touch wood)
If I stick this plant directly on a sand-free rock, will it grow and will I be able to care for this plant without sand? If I stick it directly on a rock?

my substrate is garden soil and river sand on top of the soil. Is it possible to do without liquid fertilizer?

That's something available only in Asia, it's called "pasir malang" I wanted to try it but unfortunately is not available in my country either.
