You can get accessories that mimic the look of braces (and are less painful) for helping with the transition, and if she just wants it as an accessory that gives her confidence but doesn't hurt her. (Also I've seen corn stars that use them, if you want them for only certain spaces/activities as well👀).
I cried when the orthodontist told me I was getting a permanent retainer but then life hit a little too hard and that little wire saved my teeth from shifting back. Depression definitely kicks ass and my teeth would've definitely shifted back if I had to rely on putting my removable retainers in every night.
So true! My daughter had her braces in for 2yrs. When she finally removed it, she felt so ugly. She said even her smile looks weird. Now’s she’s back to normal, loving her teeth without braces and can’t imagine doing braces again. 😂

I didn’t know this back when I got my braces off … I probably just didn’t listen at the doctor’s office 😂 … but definitely keep wearing your retainers! I regret not doing that soooo much! They haven’t gone completely back where they were, but they are most definitely not straight anymore. 🤦♀️

The hardest part about getting braces on and off for me was how it impacted me as a musician. I played trumpet, so I had to relearn how to set my embrochure to play with braces (and it was painful too). I made leaps and strides as a player, and then when I got my braces off it felt like I lost all the progress I made because I had to relearn how to set my embrochure again. Definitely crushed me a little bit (even though I was glad to have them off).

I had to get all my front teeth crowned and I trusted that it would look way better than the cavity ridden teeth I had but I also knew that they weren't gonna be the same. Like they were all going to be "normalized" my 2 front teeth that were a little big would be normal size, the teeth next to them that were a little small would be normal size and my canines that always came to nice sharp points are now rounded by comparison. Anytime I expressed my concerns that they were gonna look weird people assured me that they were gonna look great, and I had to explain (often unsuccessfully) that I was sure they would look great, but they weren't gonna look like my usual teeth and it was gonna take getting used to like when my friend who always wore glasses for years suddenly got contacts and it was strange at first, not because she looked bad just because she didn't look the way I was accustomed to.
I remember seeing my teeth after braces and thinking i looked so fake, but after weaning off my retainer as my ortho told me, things settled more comfortably and looked natural and im incredibly happy with the results
