Wildcard burned a lot of bridges. I was expecting Ark 2 in a few years and instead of them working on making that happen they released a remastered Ark as a cash grab. If it was $30 I would have given it a pass but full priced? No thank you. Ark 2 better be the most amazing survival game I've ever seen to make up for it. What really irks me is I bought all the Ark expansions and Genesis was released just a few years ago. There's no need for a cash grab. It should have been a free update for current Ark players.
If you'd like some irony, one of the devs I follow on twitter has been live streaming and lauding their play of nighting game for the last 2 days. So much irony to unpack from that and on so many levels.
If there really was an ARK 2, there never would have been an Ark Ascended. Early on they promised the engine upgrade would be free to those who bought the original game, but I think that was when they actually thought they'd have a sequel to make money off of. When they realized they didn't, they turned Ascended into their next money grab.
@@LtBuzzLitebeer atleast they paid Vin Diesel for that ARK 2 trailer, because every ARK player surely cares about that shit....................................
I thought the same thing, at first. It just sucks and point 2 is the largest reason I left the game. I was done getting fucked by WC daily. So I transferred ownership to a tribe mate, transferred to a random server that I'll probably never find. I was done and I gotta say, life has been a little better since then.
Well, they originally blamed all their issues on a horrible engine instead of their horrible code and practices, then they stated they were "building from the ground up" when all they did was port the exact same thing over (hence why all of the exact same bugs are there), and their horrible devs still have no idea how to fix this code in the brand new engine vs the one they've had a decade to use. So yeah, it's never left early access. It never will leave early access unless someone else with some sort of competent developers on staff decides to remake the game with a new IP.
The moment they backtracked on the "Free" UE5 update to those who had already bought the game... The MOMENT they did that, I said ARK as we know it is dead. That was before all the BS with the pricing debacle and ARK/2 and all the straight-up LIES the company has been spewing for months now... ARK is done. Wildcard is done. Snail is done. Sadly, this also means Myth of Empires is also done. I honestly see no way the company can survive their own stupidity at this point. I operate a small cluster (11 maps) for ASE... and honestly? I think I'm going to break that down to just one or two servers and start hosting for other games that are simply better at this point.
really never had a clue it was a full time job but yet no mans sky has been putting out free updates for years along with so many other games that did a graphics update for free.@@EinsamPibroch278
@@EinsamPibroch278the thing is the pretty much lied about it since they informed that it was suppose to be a free update with ASE and then changed what they stated later saying oh it’s now a remastered game that you have to pay separately so in this instance i could care less if they need to make money but despite all the negativity I still want to enjoy the game and I still do it just doesn’t hit the same you know 😂
Let us not forget ATLAS and Grapeshot, an off shot of Wildcard set up specifically by wildcard to develop Atlas which is pretty much dead in the water now. Want to see what is gonna happen with ASA and A2 look to atlas, because they are doing the exact same things.
yeah I fell for the Atlas trap myself and was very disappointed with how that ended up going. That was the last time I ever purchased something from the company. If it weren't for the Mod community doing most of the development for Ark SE then this game would have died long ago. I don't think Wildcard has seriously worked on this game for 5 years.
Me and my bf bought Atlas, since we liked the idea of Ark but pirates. But we quit the game in half hour. The experience was so bad. And we never got a refund.
Wasn’t there another similar case as well, the game was basically ASE but with magic and mythical creatures and similar stuff, and work on it was ended fairly quickly by WC or Snail, whichever? I think it was called Light & Dark, or something like that
I find it fitting that you had a clip of an Ark player hitting tree's to get resources until they die, for that very much feels like what Snail Games and Studio Wildcard are doing to the Ark franchise right now, hitting it to get money until they themselves die.
A pretty remaster with: Content delays. Meshing. Invisible bosses. Broken saves. Broken transfers. Cheating. Poor communication. Horrible optimization. The list can go on...but the nail in the coffin was Dollie encouraging the community to play other games 🤣 Glad you're better man 🙏🏽
It makes sense to play other games than to hyper focus on just one. Even the Palworld devs said to go play other stuff until content is ready, The Final Fantasy devs regularly tell people that.
Thats the same thing folks found out when Atlas released. they realized so much of it was like original ark and when they datamined it they found it was simply an ark expansion pack that they turned into a stand alone $60 game. The icing on the cake was when they revealed the 2 button keystroke it took to turn the Atlas main menu into the one from Ark.
Atlas is basically the 'Atlantis DLC' that they were working on for releasing after Scorched Earth. Probably couldn't figure out how to get it to fit in the Ark story so they handed it off to another group to develop and they went in the pirate direction and tried to expand it so the maps could go endlessly like Minecraft. (Probably the same group that worked on Procedural generation in Ark, that could have been a nice feature if they had done the same. Development on Proc gen stopped around the same time as the Atlas release so...) It looks like eventually Wildcard went back and used some of the assets to create the Genesis 1 ocean biome and 2's SUMP area. Aberration's cave system is likely what was under the Atlas ocean but got expanded.
@@lewislansching5982 A lot of those are built in to the Unreal Engine itself. Most professional developers just disable the console or hide how to get into it. Most devs also change the name of their game executable from the defaults too. That's why ark is just 'shootergame.exe' :P
Nah, more an example of how no matter what. Theres a large portion of people who never learn. Never see the patterns. Never move out of the way despite being hit in the same spot time and time and time again. Ark Dev has been exactly like this since 2014. Much like Bethesda games. They will always have a playerbase that will gladly lay cash on the counter and proclaim "This time its for real"
It's not just all the same old bugs, it's all the same old bugs that they already fixed previously. Like throwing the dino out of a cryopod and it takes a few steps forward. That started up again and then just stopped a few days ago. I think they took all their original Arc code and ported it to unreal 5. Not the code they had been working on for years. The original code with all the same bugs. Now they have to go back through and refix everything. I just see too many old bugs that were previously fixed to think that anything else happened
Well, that was expected. They've only changed what was necessary to change. Updated assets, redrew the game map (because UE5 treats it differently) and remade some systems which were supposed to change(like base building). After all they were migrating to a new engine, not making a new game.
@@michael_janus Which is not what they said at any time. They stated, and I quote: "Remade from the ground up." That doesn't sound like low level port to me.
This was probably because they were forced to a dead line by nitrado in that legally binding contract (their hopes) I suspect were most likely that they could indeed fix the code starting from scratch using the original base code (which in theory) should be easier than untangling years worth of compounded code. Which means yes re-hashing old bugs and code but should in theory allow a better optimized code long term, but that also means having to keep players happy and try to push out working content that they were CLEARLY not ready for which is where half if not the majority of their problems stem from.
The center was a trash fire of a map when it released. If all they did was repurpose old code, i have no doubt it was probably in a worse state. Also Ragnarok was a beautiful map as well, but it also was extremely unstable. And it never really got that much better either.
@@SSGoatanks p2win/pass= The Adventure packs of which one already released. And for cash shops, that's pretty much the premium mods since while 50% of profit goes to the mod maker, the other 50% is split between Snail Games and Overwolf.....but there's more coming.
Ark started digging it's own grave the moment it made a deal with the devil called Snailgames. I feel truly sorry for the fans of this franchise and i wish them all the best. By the way at this point the only way Ark could be saved is if Snail and Wildcard gives the community the keys to the car so to speak.
I kind of feel they started to dig their own grave when they used code from a previous job and lost a lawsuit, forcing them to sell DLCs before the game was released.. so kind of right out of the gate.
@@Artimidorus you mean when Jeremy Stieglitz and Wildcard had to pay 40 million dollars over a lawsuit. Meaning all the sales from ark where gone in an instant and they had to sell themselvs to SGUSA.
I was a die hard fan of Ark Survival Evolved. I was among the dozens who were on the edge of their seats when a new dino update released on Unreal 4. Their old models were good, but to release a new Texture model and new features to the dino was impressive that only made us more excited that these quality of life overhauls would make the dream of dinosaur game worth while. The fact that they can give their textures a facelife like that in Unreal 4 proves that they had the team capable of making things work in Unreal 4. So to jump to 5, with the quality in design we were expecting would indeed blow us out of the water. There's no denying that. But it's a reskin. You're not going to pull a Bethsada Horse Armor DLC and tell us it's raining.
It's slightly off topic, but ARK was never a dinosaur game, it was just a marketing trick to label is as such, since it sounds better than "prehistoric animals game" which would still be inaccurate. You know what percentage of the game's tameable creatures are dinosaurs? 26.7%. Dinosaur game my *ss. That was their fist lie.
@@Hellxdamage That isn't how it launched though. It launched Island with 100% prehistoric creatures, then they launched the bosses (which were fantasy). From there they kept making things up and straying further from the prehistoric creature aspect. But originally..... it was a dino game and was marketed as such.
@@AC273 You did not fully understand what I said. That's the thing, prehistoric animal =/= dino! Dinosaurs are a specific group of reptiles and their descendants the birds, nothing else is a dinosaur. It's just WC's idiocity to use it as an umbrella term to every creature in the game regardless if something is a dinosaur or not. Ark in early access had 23 creatures of which 11 was dinosaur, and yeah this ratio kept going worse in favor of non-dinosaurs.
I mean... does anyone remember back when Survival Evolved was still in EA and they offered a paid dlc in the form of Scorched Earth? That sets the tone for how I expected everything to go in the future.
Being an ASA mod developer has never sucked more. UE5 is so much better than ue4, but i already see so many people jumping ship and going back to ASE (who can blame them). I wish Wildcard would get their shit together.
Series X player and still not able to save my SINGLE PLAYER game. Started playing No Man’s Sky 2 weeks ago. Taking my time and enjoying the exploration and building. Loving it. Haven’t even looked at Ark since.
I’ve been wondering since day 1, what will they do when they decide that they aren’t going to finish the rest of the maps? Do we all get refunds or will there be a class action lawsuit ? You know they won’t make it all the way through genisis maps.
I think they are going for an overwatch 2 - a game built around providing PvE and talent trees to an existing game...that supplied neither....and is basically paying money for the thing everyone already had. They seem to have gotten away with that just fine, unfortunately.
Video game companies get away with alot of things unfortunately. That's why you never give them money In moba's it's even worse, say you got a total of 800 character skins each being worth 20 USD (800 x 20 = 16,000) 16,000 USD is what you spent on this game. Now also imagine that somebody finds your in game name or something you said offensive and reports you or that you type something completely normal in chat, but the automated ban system finds "I like eggs" offensive. In both cases, you are now perma banned and you just lost 16,000 USD and the devs give the middle finger when you try to ask for some kind of justice or somewhat of a refund I would unironcally say that video game companies are better at evading law & responsibility than criminals are, and they have the exact same attitude when you try to ask for your stuff back
Also as I side note.. the new floating island creature on Scorched Earth. It mentions the regeneration pool, but the wording actually says "Dead Pets". I would not be surprised if that means just what it says.. dead/lost pets/Chibbies lol.
I am so glad i didn't pay for ASA or even get the game. I was excited for it, don't get me wrong. But with everything that is going on with Snail and WC, im just going to stick to Evolved and Palworld.
@@romansbottomPalworld’s graphics isn’t meant to look lifelike, it’s more of a anime style but looks way better then any Pokémon game where it lent its esthetics from. It runs smooth with no glitches from the start. I wish I could say that about ASE, but then I would have been lying and from what I hear ASA runs like crap and have all the old bugs thou it was promised to be new code! But hey, I guess there’s plenty of room on the ASA servers as no one’s playing it anymore! The Island is still the Island even with new textures and we all have played that map until boredom before ASA was even mentioned.
@@romansbottom I can see how people may think that. But it is not meant to be realistic. It is meant to be a fun survival monster capture game. Much like ark. And IMO it is way better, and way more polished as an early access game than ASA is.
@Flegod Don't get me wrong, I've had some fun with Palworld... but the whole thing just feels soulless and procedurally generated. Exploration isn't nearly as fun as ASE.
The bit about lack of innovation is a great point. Had the update to UE5 graphics been free or $10-$20, it's unlikely anyone would have batted an eye that it was the same old _ARK;_ there would have been an understanding that limitations existed because of the game's age, and players would have gone about their business, eager to play with the new dinos and buy the new map. But $40+ and tales of brand-new, ground-up code set expectations for a game that would be vastly superior, with all sorts of TLC and bug fixes. None of it materialized, to the point of the new game being worse off than the old. I would have been delighted to have been wrong about how problematic _ASA_ would be, and had it been everything I'd hoped for _ASE_ to be, I would have bought it even without the ability to play it on my current rig. Maybe even bought the oasisaur just because I'm a bit of a collector. But with _ASA_ as it is, I can't justify any of it, even though I've begun the journey toward a new gaming rig.
Really appreciate the content and format from this channel. The intro sequence, and effort put into production makes this feel like something I'd expect to see come across the TV on a nightly news segment. Love it.
I think we need a deep dive into how this PTW creature announced recently is going to actually work. Given the current limitations of the game. This creature is larger than a titanosaur and can supposedly hold a whole village on its back. Assumption, this means there will be a limited, possibly fixed ammount on the map at one time, that everyone who pays for this creature doesnt actually get one, you just get the use of one. The dossier says the 'favoured tribe' get closest to the pool with miraculous abilities. Looks like even with paying money to obtain the use of the creature, you may not even get exclusive use of this one creature. Assumption : these creatures are just a large, animated pvp event and not exclusive content that you pay for. Given the dossiers release, the limitations of the size and ammount of large creatures on the map this raises a lot of red flags as to what you will actually be paying for here.
Both snail and wildcard remind me a lot about the story of Icarus and just like how he flew to close to the sun and went crashing so have they and this once great game
ARK needed ASA to be the ARK 2 that everyone wanted, and wildcard never promised. We are talkin about that same company that started releasing DLC maps before fixing major issues like eggs glitching through the floor and the generally terrible online experience it was at the time. Instead we got the ASA release to be on par with the first clients that released with ARK. Dinos that lag so hard you could kill a rex with a pick, and servers that were as stable as an actively erupting volcano.
I've been saying pretty much the same as all of this to my friends. Its a hard pill to swallow, but they backed themselves into a corner and smashed what trust remained in the community.
man, I really think the only thing that can be done now is just hope a company like epic picks this game up, it's unlikely but I have 0 faith left in WC and snail at this point.
I even randomly came across Nooblets video you mentionned. As far as I remember he described the rampant corruption within Snail Games and that its unlikely that they can or want to save ARK, from its downfall.
This one hits.. i came late to ark like started in 2019 and missed all the "good days".. had a ton of fun catching up and learning then running private servers, got excited for asa and that ran its course.. now im just here like -_- rip
Yep just after, I played on island for a bit to see how the game was and got hooked immediately! The community was awesome too, met so many cool folks of all ages just grinding for hours. Good memories 😎
I’m guessing the point of ASA was partly an exercise to get used to Unreal 5, allowing them to develop updated textures and effects without having to make a whole new map, and partly to get money.
the people that defend ASA are legit delusional. The only response to genuine facts presented is "your poor" "your a kid" They really cant handle critiscm. After the ATLAS scam you think these people will learn.
They're hopelessly addicted. They put a ton of time into their bases, their dinos, maybe RMT, and are too invested and hopelessly drawn in. Snail will probably drag this game through the dirt until it dies trying to suck every ounce of cash they can however they can out of it.
This was the game I loved I had played it for years and could see through all the bugs and see the game for what it was but ASA is just on hole new Level I had just bought a pc and could barely even play it on low setting I am so sad to see such a good game go into such a waste 😢😢
As someone who's never played Ark before(and can't help but give it a curious glance considering Palworld took a few ideas from it, which I'm totally ok with), is Survival Evolved still worth at least checking out? I'll most likely look into Palworld first after it's been updated a bit more, but with how long Ark has been around, SE sounds like it's still a fun alternative.
It is, of you're willing to suffer through its flaws and have good people to play with. Otherwise, meh. To be fair though, given the current state of things, I'm not sure giving more money to these people is a good idea. If anything, wait until it's all on sale or sail the seas for it.
They should have never promised it for free… that was a huge mistake! BUT I also agree with the comments that you can’t expect them to continue making new content for free. They have to live off this, and no one can survive on rainbows, cotton candy, and positive vibes - including RUclipsrs by the way. Every popular game out there makes you pay for new content - new maps, etc… Conan - I had to pay for the new map. DayZ I had to pay for the new map. Subnautica I had to pay for the new map… and all of those games have new skins coming out regularly that you have to pay for… ASA is giving us ALL the maps for one price (and changing the maps over to UE5 is a HUGE job)… they are making it possible for you to create your own custom skins / maps / mods for free… I don’t agree with all their decisions! They shouldn’t have said ASA would be free to begin with… The new DLC Dino shouldn’t be able to revive dead dinosaurs… I have to problem with ‘pay-to-play’, but they need to make sure it never becomes ‘pay-to-win’… but I also think we need to be patient (it’s hard sometimes - I know!), and give them a break!
I’ve been playing ARK: Survival Evolved since *2015* (or at least when Compy was a new dinosaur) and while the game actually released in 2017, I still consider it a 2015 game personally since that’s the technology it had at the time and it hasn’t changed a whole lot, but that’s just me. I own every DLC, have several mods and have well over 1k hours in Evolved, and still today it’s my second most played game on Steam. However, I’ve had the game uninstalled for almost a year now and I’ve never been happier. Uninstalled for two reasons: *1. The unholy size of it* This game, with all of its DLC installed, is about 300+ GB, a third of an average PC’s (around peak ARK time) disk size. While I have 2 TB of storage on this PC, I want to have at least 900 GB of breathing room given how many games I have installed at one time, and this game was just taking up way too much space to justify keeping it installed, especially after I kept playing it less and less. Probably the reason is the game is full of uncompressed files bloating the game which only got worse as more DLC were added. Slightly off topic but, it’s incredible that the ARK fan base tolerated Scorched Earth’s release as much as we did, we complained about the fishy business of a DLC in Early Access but we still bought it because of our faith in Wildcard; oh how times of changed. *2. Ascended* The moment I heard the reveal for Ascended, I was irritated. I am someone who very rarely cares about how pretty a game is as my ‘overall enjoyment score’, so seeing this new version of ARK that’s just ‘ARK but in 4k’ already kinda annoyed me since the base game looked fine. And then they decided Ascended was no longer free. Many people have called some of us entitled for expecting Ascended to be free since ‘poor Wildcard needs yer monee’, and while I agree to an extent, even Bethesda had the humility to give Skyrim: Special Edition to us for free if we owned the original Skyrim. Bethesda was more generous than Wildcard; let that sink in. And then they announced the ARK: Survival Evolved official servers would be shutting down when Ascended comes out. Ah, I see the tactic here, you’re insecure about Ascended’s sales and so you’re *forcing us to buy Ascended* if we want to play on official (they also didn’t change Evolved’s store page to allude to the fact official multiplayer would go offline, extremely shady) Yeah no f*ck this boat, I’m swimming to shore lmao. I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed, I always knew ARK was a very flawed game and I played it despite my issues with it, I bought the DLC and enjoyed my time with the game, but I’ve officially moved on. Ascended was just the straw that broke the camel’s already arthritic back. I may regret a little just how much time I spent on it, as nowadays I’m more modest about how much I play video games, but it’s in the past. Oh and for future reference, never believe Wildcards’ release dates, they have never met a single one, ever. I knew 21/22 for ARK 2 was a load of t-rex sh*t and I was right, and like you said, Ascended was probably just a sales stunt to fund ARK 2. See you all in 2035 when ARK 2 is released lol
I've played Ark since it was still an early access game. Everything you described is pretty much the MO of Studio Wildcard. Same stuff different games and time. Really sad too be honest. I spent thousands of hours in Ark through the good and not so good times. Seeing that they haven't changed much is keeping me skeptical about Ark 2. Dang, so much potential wasted.
The least the devs could have done is added an option in the menu to disable the volumetric clouds, just to aknowledge that it's an issue. Their lack of communication is truly baffling.
To those that still enjoy ASA and want the best for it, I’m really sorry that the center got delayed. But, I mean this with total honesty and with no offense to the players, what did you expect? It’s crazy that we have to expect them to miss their deadlines, but it’s nothing new. I recently watched Raasclarks video, and he expressed anger that they delayed it only one week before launch. Let us not forget that they delayed Xbox launch the night before it was supposed to drop. Don’t set yourselves up for disappointment expecting that this time will be different. It sounds negative and pessimistic, but it won’t bother when they delay if you do. You shouldn’t have to. I’m sorry that you do, but it’s the price we pay if we choose to stick around. Also just wanted to say thanks for your videos man started watching you awhile ago but I really enjoy your coverage of the more business/professional side of things, quoting into from shareholder meetings and such. It’s a blessing and a curse, you see all of it as it really is and it hurts to see, but at least you see it for what it is.
I remember playing this game years ago and was obsessed, didn’t watch vids, just wanted to learn myself, it was amazing and the game hold a special place in my heart but right now it’s like watching someone you love slowly kill themselves with a heroine addiction
I saw the new Shastasaurus and though hmm maybe I’ll give it another try. Cant even get past the loading screen on the center. I have a 4070ti, a intel 14900, and 64 gb of ddr5 ram. Im done with WC. I will never play another one of their games again.
Does anyone else have an issue where the map is so blurry you cant really use it? I play on and xbox series s. There was only 1 time the map wasnt blurry but it only lasted for a couple minutes.
It was blurry for me too (on PC), then I set the texture quality higher, and that solved it. I don't know what settings are available on consoles, but it seems like the problem might be caused by the game's resolution, texture settings AND the display's resolution not being "in harmony", so you might wanna tinker with those settings.
I would think until popular maps like Aberration and Extinction come out, this is nothing to worry about. I personally think most people won't return or consider buying the game if they haven't until Extinction. Ab will probably bring some players back/in, but not like Extinction will. There's just no content, and WC has a history of not living up to their word. The Island map sucks except for those stuck in nostalgia land, and they are the ones still playing this game everyday with invisible bosses, save issues, server crashes and all the other issues. They are the "hard core" players.... but they are delusional that ASA is worth their time to play right now. WC can get by with it because players let them, especially official players. Now, I think this is in large part due to official servers. Official is such a long slow grind, those players are there day in day out like it's their second job at the mercy of WC of the "next event" to make meaningful progress. Sad. I used to be one of them myself sadly for many thousands of hours. There's too many good games out there to play and support with your time and/or money. ASA is not one of them, yet.
What a bummer. I love Ark and thought it just needed some adjustments. Decay for foundations on spawn points, insane explosive damage or weakness of steel base components, few other things, but the game was solid as hell. The ability to play solo was a big one but certainly workable. I think you are right and it makes me sad :(
Im so glad i never bought ASA and just stuck with ASE, this company never seems to not disappoint. Its just sad how a game i love so much has just been dragged in the dirt. Im just glad they didn't ruin ASE with some hidden patches to get people to buy ASA, doesnt seem like thats something that they wouldnt do. Great video lad!
But not every single one… and Wildcard/snail only earn more money with the dlc … it will die… not now not fast but every delay which wildcard is the definition of is the next nail in the coffin. It’s sad, but without a solid big playerbase the mod Programm will not work like it should do etc. Ark ascended need a solid average playerbase which they will never get because you need a 3060+ to even run this game and in 1440p you need a 4070 or higher… 2160p still not playable… maybe with the 5xxx or 6xxx flagships. Till the average steam user has a 3070+ the game is buried 5times.
I e had three maps in a cluster since 2019. It’s for friends and we stalled due to life in 2023. We picked up ascendant and the wife and I played with a small surge. And it’s back to just us. I’ll happily go backwards for friends. That’s what we play for.
Sad days and only getting worse still for ark, had over 4k hours and was there when the Therizino hit the O.G island. Even the special Halloween event where bats and megalo's spawned on the island, and official tame rates went to x32 on my server at the time thanks to the donations during the event. Memory lane was nice, and Ark really had it all, its truly a shame its come to this, I still play ASE. ASA will not be getting a single penny. Great Vid as well! :)
I mean, all of my enthusiasm died when they backtracked that hard and then double down at the negative reaction. when someone doubles down to massive fanbase backlash, historically it's a sign the company only sees you as a wallet with legs rather than a valued customer. Add that to their rampant favoritism on any official server and al lthe other shit they've done..hell, i dropped out of the first ark without ever 'beating' a map....the enthusiasm just..died
Is this the same developer that took people's money from alpha early acces and turned around and made a paid DLC while the game was still in early access ? Thats the company we are talking about right ? ok. ''surprised pikachu face''
To be honest, I too was an 8 year veteran of ark survival evolved but when palworld came out just this year. I felt that palworld had more to offer. Yes it may seem like ark, genshin impact and Pokémon, I think in game play, but it's more fun and relaxing in some way. I think I rather play palworld over ark anytime. Forgive me my fellow ark veterans, it's looking like that at this point. I was looking forward to ark 2. Palworld is going to be greater than ark
Only a few thousand people came back for SE looking at the steam charts, the fact they locked a dino behind a paywall was the last straw for many. There is no way they are getting much money from this and with them basically bleeding money this will be the last map you see before they go bust, you might get the center because it's outsourced to another company but who knows if they even have the backing to keep going.
@@CaIastair oh 100% the game is still dying, I'm just saying this last thing they've released is better than everything else was at initial release and they (mostly) stayed close to the release date from the roadmap The popularity might not increase much but at least they delivered something
3:12 (Save or same??????) It has a save game issue on consoles? Palworld on console has the same issue too I wonder if its the consoles themselves or UE5 engine they were built on is the culprit
I'm just soooo curious what management is like at that company. The lack of everything (patches, communication to the playerbase, delayed content, etc). It has the be hell on earth to work under the bosses at Snail / Wildcard.
Me and my sister love to find good survival games to play together online, and eventually we looked as Ascended after remembering how fun Evolved was years ago. We had no clue it wasn't "Ark 2", but we were excited to get in it none-the less. We bought the game and couldn't even find a way to get in to a game together, and on top of that couldn't get a stable single-player game going. Loading times were insane, and our decent PC's were running it like we didn't have graphics cards. Immediately refunded and went back to Evolved (for a day before moving over to project zomboid). Right after this, Palworld released, we picked it up and were in game together within minutes and having a blast scratching that itch. I'm not sure I will ever play ark again; more interested in to following Palworld and what they have down the development pipeline.
Wtf are you talking about 😂😂 Joining games is easy and ASA has split screen(on console) with nearly ZERO performance dips from it . Me and my little brother do the same thing in looking for games 😂 it's easy af on console
@@Shade04rek You talk about Palworld, but that game has less content than ASE, no endgame, and pokemon-esque lame creatures. I don't doubt that it's a good game and I'm sure it's fun ; but meh the graphical style alone, coupled with the lack of content and casualization of systems... idk
As said. When ASE runs better then Asa. @LtBuzzLitebeer said ASA ran horrable on his RTX 3090, then he later bought 4090 I assume. And game still kinda ran meh. ASE got years of patches even if it running on very old UE 4.5 (From 2015). Wildcard never bothered to upgrade to UE 4.27. They said on Twitter post that they did. They said they upgrade ASE from UE 4.5 -> 4.27 then to UE 5.2 Q: where is that version?!!!! Where is ASE running UE 4.27 the latest unreal engine before moving UE 5.x. How any times has wildcard LIED to us and the community. A: there is no proof. ASA could been straight ported to UE 5.0 and called it done. Missing all upgrade it got. Thus why game runs like SHIT!, thus why server tools are broken, missing information and upgrade. Thus why both server and client runs horrible. I am betting that ASA is running version 5.0 or 5.1 and they did as quick and as lazy as they could, and they don’t have skilled devs to do any proper coding. They never could. Yeah all old bugs from ASE came over to Asa , Cus devs did lazy port, minor updates. Even dino/animal skins/assets and textures are minor updates. There other UE 5.x games that run good or great. While wildcard can’t seem code or programs correctly. Center map had a lot bugs and issue with ASE that never got fixed . CEO went on Twitter that they never go MTX or pay to win. They should be sued for backtracking.
It ran meh on my 3090 with a mix of settings. With my 4090, and using frame gen, it still will catch from time to time. To say it runs smoothly would be a lie.
@@LtBuzzLitebeer Hi, thanks for reply. So ASE runs better on your old 3090? That’s kinds funny, and proof how lazy and/unskilled wildcard devs are. I so wanted Asa to be good, ran ark server myself for few years. Other UE5 you’ve played run well right?
Here is the bottom line: Even after ASA's lies about being free and built from the ground up they under delivered, while games like Helldivers 2 and Enshrouded over delivered. At this point, I prefer Icarus over Ark.
i dont think that stuff like palworld (or even other survival games without tames) is a competitor because DINOS :D but i agree they fucked up in many kategories all at once. or lets say i agree with the entire video besides: - IMO it looks a lot better and runs ok. i havent had crashes, havent had save-corruptions, am playing on high graphics without frame-issues on a 3080 nvidia. this might obviously be a completely subjective experience (maybe i was lucky). i also might want to mention that im still on windows 10 as a friend of mine who likes to play POE with me, had latency problems and framerate issues + random crashes and disconnects etc. for months, not knowing what it was, set up his PC again with windows 10 instead of 11 (after many other tries of getting it fixed from tribers of graphics and audio to different rednering engine, etc. etc.) and it miraculously went as smooth as my experience in those months after (again, might not be causal, just mentioning it in case someone has run out of options and is happy to have ideas what else to try -> windows 11 has some known issues with gaming and compatibility in general). - i dont think having just one map is a problem as modded maps are already out (or about 80% fisnished) and - at least for me- release faster than i could play them. i prefer them delaying that shit 4-5 times over releasing it half-assed like they kind of did with the base game (mashes and shit are really annoying - aka dinos getting stuck, falling through ground, etc.) - im not playing online so i cant argue about that.
Im running a 4090 with i9 4900k fully optimized to run HEAVY demanding games and ASA fucking looks and runs like shit trying to run it with max settings on 4k. Most horrible game optimization. Constant crashes and stuttering.
I was a private server hoster for a long time. When they removed private non-nitrado servers from the serverlists I pulled the plug. There were plenty of other issues making it hard to run a stable private server, but it is clear that private servers were heavily discouraged by malpractice. I couldn't be arsed anymore.
ive had this bug where i cannot connect to modded servers despite spending about 100 hours jus trying different things so im yet still unable to play the nitrado server that me and my friends rented for 6 months thinking we would no life this like we did for ASE

Does anyone know the answer to my suffering? My Xbox series s crashes randomly with ASA. No rhyme or reason. Tried everything. Also. That foliage! Why are trees so thick and bushy! Can’t see a damn thing.
I stopped playing ARK a while ago because it was too heavy on my PC and I didn't have time, and I felt bad that I spent money on this thing and barely touched it. Thanks to this video, I don't feel bad any more!
Ark died for me a year ago when I had 4 years of my time, possessions, and achievements wiped away due to some kind of vague accusation. Someone claimed I did something wrong and a game moderator wiped every structure I ever made including cryofridges containing 99% of everything. I opened a ticket about it but was just told "you violated our community standards", but no explanation of how/where/when was given , and all further tickets seeking an explanation were ignored. I've never been more discusted by such treatment, I can't even hear about ark anymore without feeling robbed.
I downloaded ASA on the PS5 and launch and like the QOL enhancements and graphic updgrades but I deleted ASA from my PS5 and games library last Monday in total disgust, the ongoing save issue was an annoyance but recoverable from my cloud back-up, I'd loose maybe 2 - 3 hours play each time it occurred (every 3rd or 4th start up. Whatever the last update was, it synced the 'new' map it created and overwrote the cloud backup 330+ hours of play and build wiped before I knew what was happening. Apparently this is a common and long term issue, glitched I can cope with but when, in combination with the PS5s sync it negates any chance of recovering from such a glitch it's time to walk away. It's been a real bonus to my use of free time last week, I finally got my photography back catalogue going back to 2022 all updated and as a consequence I recovered about 200 Gb of space on my laptop. I also got to check out the new features in Minecraft in the end. While ASA was a complete and utter waste of time going forward I have a lot of time that I can make better use of. And yes I'm that pissed with it that I don't think I'll be returning to any of my ASE maps either.
I'm so glad I quit that game and decided to no longer fund a crap company. Ark evolved was a amazing game when I first started playing even with all the bugs I still had fun with the pvp and the grind..even when I rubber banded across the world every 4 seconds......the game was epic... They worked on the first one and was cool and loved it but what got me is the fact that when they decided to start on the second one they just dropped the whole community in the toilet just to take more money for same old code 😂 I have no doubt that they will eventually get the second one to be good but that will be a year or two before the release whatever crapfest they want to try and sell us again....I refuse to pay to have my own server or even keep what i worked years for in game WHICH by the way is long gone as you guys know... I am very confident that there's some individuals in this comment section that probably have the skills to make a game as cool or cooler than what the current ark has and for a smaller price. All they're doing is holding onto the hope that some of us had and praying we give them more money to fund their crap that doesn't even work. I respect those who stuck with the community servers and are spending hundreds if not, thousands of dollars to just have fun with other players in the game. Look if I want to dump that amount of money I'd buy myself a goddamn shotgun and go hunting every chance I get before I spend it on them again. HELL I would rather spend it all playing Minecraft or Roblox or even COD games that are utter garbage 😂 or even better I would rather pay the community to code their own game so they can all play outside of ark to avoid feeding them hungry money grabbing HOGS 😡
ARK is in real trouble. I went ahead and bought the game recently and discovered after visiting around a dozen servers for NA a beach Bob is in real trouble since all the monster bases, pillars, and quarter walls, left no place to build. Ended up making a few rafts and traveled the entire map until it got too cold for a new avatar and no luck.
3:32 They never built ASA from the ground up. They literally migrated the code base for ASE from UE4 to UE5 and called it Ark Survival Ascended. That's why ASA contains all the same bugs and issues that plagued ASE from early access and beyond. Wildcard are compulsive liars, sadly. Heck, ASE's developent started with lies and deceit, which also got them sued by Jeremy's former employer..
Ark's downfall was that it's a live service game that didn't put out purchasable content enough. New game sales will never pay for ongoing dev work, or investment into sequals.
I remember talking to a dev personally about bugs and issues of the game on the Xbox release and they fixed a lot. I’ve gone back to ark after not touching it for years but saw all the mess they’ve made.

Have you heard anything about the ARK: Animated Series?
Btw buzz for some reason your links above there for those channels arent working.
@@K-W1 Hmmm, working on it now. It will work in 30 secs.
It still surprises me the original release date for ark 2 was 2022, and we're not even close to getting the game in 2024
You're into 2024 with just 1 map for ASA. Ark 2 feels like it is 10 years away, if ever.
I still say the only Ark 2 we will see is that crappy trailer with Vin Deisel. ASA is a scam to siphon more money off a dwindling player base
If there really was an ARK 2, there never would have been an Ark Ascended. Early on they promised the engine upgrade would be free to those who bought the original game, but I think that was when they actually thought they'd have a sequel to make money off of. When they realized they didn't, they turned Ascended into their next money grab.
2021 was actually intended for Ark 2 at one point lmao
@@LtBuzzLitebeer atleast they paid Vin Diesel for that ARK 2 trailer, because every ARK player surely cares about that shit....................................
Aint no way a game that started out as an early access game for damn near a decade is BACK in early access.
But it is...🤦
I thought the same thing, at first.
Game development is a full time job, it still costs money to live.
You can't expect them to keep making new content for years, for free.
@@EinsamPibroch278 You absolutely can when they promise something for free to get you hyped then change their minds.
The reason I dropped it.

I don't think Wildcard has seriously worked on this game for 5 years.
same happened to dark and light aswell.
Me and my bf bought Atlas, since we liked the idea of Ark but pirates. But we quit the game in half hour. The experience was so bad. And we never got a refund.
And PixArk
Wasn’t there another similar case as well, the game was basically ASE but with magic and mythical creatures and similar stuff, and work on it was ended fairly quickly by WC or Snail, whichever? I think it was called Light & Dark, or something like that
I find it fitting that you had a clip of an Ark player hitting tree's to get resources until they die, for that very much feels like what Snail Games and Studio Wildcard are doing to the Ark franchise right now, hitting it to get money until they themselves die.
I think the biggest sign that ASA is failing is that videos on how it's failing are now more popular than those of people actually playing the game.
Fact.
A pretty remaster with: Content delays. Meshing. Invisible bosses. Broken saves. Broken transfers. Cheating. Poor communication. Horrible optimization. The list can go on...but the nail in the coffin was Dollie encouraging the community to play other games 🤣
Glad you're better man 🙏🏽
I saw that shit! That was hysterical.
cant even place eggs without disconnecting atm which has stopped even a lot of the hardcore players who breed good dinos.
Don't forget stealing money from Ark that was meant for the game to keep other businesses afloat that have nothing to do with ark
It makes sense to play other games than to hyper focus on just one. Even the Palworld devs said to go play other stuff until content is ready, The Final Fantasy devs regularly tell people that.
For a casual it does. A beach bob had this mentality.
Someone on my discord ark server data mined both versions of the game, ascended is made on evolved old code.
😂😂😂 🤡
A lot of admin commands from ark work on atlas. Just an FYI.
@@lewislansching5982 A lot of those are built in to the Unreal Engine itself. Most professional developers just disable the console or hide how to get into it. Most devs also change the name of their game executable from the defaults too. That's why ark is just 'shootergame.exe' :P
Ark is the example of a publisher's greed killing a game.
Also, ARK was never meant to become so big so the scale of the project overwhelmed the creators, and have no experienced people to continue it.
snail games as a publisher is a joke. they took all the money and blew it on garbage that didnt have anything to do with games.

Cyropods are useless now. Pve is unplayable

The only way it’s going to be saved is if another publisher and dev team take the reins

Haven't heard that in a while. 'Don't piss up my back and tell me it's raining'. Spot on too.
@@bowlock9901 it seemed like a good analogy...
@@AC273 You did not fully understand what I said. That's the thing, prehistoric animal =/= dino! Dinosaurs are a specific group of reptiles and their descendants the birds, nothing else is a dinosaur. Ark in early access had 23 creatures of which 11 was dinosaur, and yeah this ratio kept going worse in favor of non-dinosaurs.
I mean... does anyone remember back when Survival Evolved was still in EA and they offered a paid dlc in the form of Scorched Earth? That sets the tone for how I expected everything to go in the future.
releasing DLC before a game is " finished " shouldnt be legal. This is the only industry that gets away with shit like this.

That's why you never give them money
In moba's it's even worse, say you got a total of 800 character skins each being worth 20 USD (800 x 20 = 16,000) 16,000 USD is what you spent on this game. Now also imagine that somebody finds your in game name or something you said offensive and reports you or that you type something completely normal in chat, but the automated ban system finds "I like eggs" offensive. In both cases, you are now perma banned and you just lost 16,000 USD and the devs give the middle finger when you try to ask for some kind of justice or somewhat of a refund
I would unironcally say that video game companies are better at evading law & responsibility than criminals are, and they have the exact same attitude when you try to ask for your stuff back
Also as I side note.. the new floating island creature on Scorched Earth. It mentions the regeneration pool, but the wording actually says "Dead Pets". I would not be surprised if that means just what it says.. dead/lost pets/Chibbies lol.

Concordo com você ,não sei se é por eu ser brasileiro mas tá difícil de crescer com o conteúdo do ASA e olha que eu amo o game
Been playing ark since 2018 and all I can say is that this stuff makes me really sad.
Try being there in 2015-2017 when game was HALF as stable as ASA . Newer players just don't understand ASE was far worse early on 😂
We aren’t leaving ark.. we are just leaving ark ascended.. it’s honestly the best move to get our point across
I've been saying pretty much the same as all of this to my friends. Its a hard pill to swallow, but they backed themselves into a corner and smashed what trust remained in the community.
Playing ASE on unofficial and currently loving it. I like that there arent hundreds of people killing my dinos and destroying my base everyday lol.
man, I really think the only thing that can be done now is just hope a company like epic picks this game up, it's unlikely but I have 0 faith left in WC and snail at this point.
I lost my hope 3-4years ago… but wildcard is still there😉
I even randomly came across Nooblets video you mentionned.
2019 isnt bad man. That around when Rag dropped or not long after? Thats the golden times of Ark. Definitely on official
Mainly to get money with the excuse of getting used to U5. They rushed it, "reworked from the ground up" bullshit. Why is a remake in early access.
the people that defend ASA are legit delusional.
Time to finish Atlas.
Come on Grapeshot
Noted. Thanks!@@nightc0red
Subnautica I had to pay for the new map… and all of those games have new skins coming out regularly that you have to pay for…
ASA is giving us ALL the maps for one price (and changing the maps over to UE5 is a HUGE job)… they are making it possible for you to create your own custom skins / maps / mods for free…
I don’t agree with all their decisions!
Uninstalled for two reasons:
*1. The unholy size of it*
This game, with all of its DLC installed, is about 300+ GB, a third of an average PC’s (around peak ARK time) disk size.
*2. Ascended*
The moment I heard the reveal for Ascended, I was irritated.
Everyone removing the CLOUDS to get little bit of better Frame Rates!
Developer Excuse - its EARLY ACCESS
❤️
I remember playing this game years ago and was obsessed, didn’t watch vids, just wanted to learn myself, it was amazing and the game hold a special place in my heart but right now it’s like watching someone you love slowly kill themselves with a heroine addiction
Almost 100k views in 1 day proves ark could be massive if it was just handled correctly smh
I saw the new Shastasaurus and though hmm maybe I’ll give it another try. Cant even get past the loading screen on the center. I have a 4070ti, a intel 14900, and 64 gb of ddr5 ram. Im done with WC. I will never play another one of their games again.
What Ark players really need is a competitor game that everyone can jump onto and let this ship sink on its own.
Ark community deserves a great game after all the support given to snail games voltures.
Use the command r.Streaming.FullyLoadUsedTextures 1 that seems to fix it
I would think until popular maps like Aberration and Extinction come out, this is nothing to worry about.
I think you are right and it makes me sad :(
10:10 wait, is this ASA..? Heavily modded or just full settings?
Im so glad i never bought ASA and just stuck with ASE, this company never seems to not disappoint. Its just sad how a game i love so much has just been dragged in the dirt. Im just glad they didn't ruin ASE with some hidden patches to get people to buy ASA, doesnt seem like thats something that they wouldnt do.
Great video lad!
I got this.
Palworld came out. Once that previews been rinsed people will come back. Right about the time the new maps are out.
I bought ascended when it released and I still can't get into online servers only single player. I get stuck on the joining server screen.
Subbed to assist to that 200k, push it!!!!
Out of curiosity what's that artwork used in the thumbnail/starting image?
Not everyone is willing to buy a 5k pc or a next gen console just to play the same game they already paid for, the player number dont prove much
To be honest, I too was an 8 year veteran of ark survival evolved but when palworld came out just this year.
Ok but ARK Survival Ascended Scorched Earth is kinda fire looking so far, aside from that though it's definitely dying at least at the moment
@@CaIastair oh 100% the game is still dying, I'm just saying this last thing they've released is better than everything else was at initial release and they (mostly) stayed close to the release date from the roadmap
The popularity might not increase much but at least they delivered something
3:12 (Save or same??????)
It has a save game issue on consoles? Palworld on console has the same issue too
I wonder if its the consoles themselves or UE5 engine they were built on is the culprit
What the Great Flyer Nerf did to my 12th generation bred Quetzes was criminal. I have not forgotten.
@@DarkepyonX I was on steam. Cool that console players had a more streamlined experience though. Troubleshooting a new game sucks.
They said they upgrade ASE from UE 4.5 -> 4.27 then to UE 5.2
Q: where is that version?!!!!
@@LtBuzzLitebeer
Hi, thanks for reply.
At this point, I prefer Icarus over Ark.
i dont think that stuff like palworld (or even other survival games without tames) is a competitor because DINOS :D but i agree they fucked up in many kategories all at once.
or lets say i agree with the entire video besides:
- IMO it looks a lot better and runs ok. i havent had crashes, havent had save-corruptions, am playing on high graphics without frame-issues on a 3080 nvidia. this might obviously be a completely subjective experience (maybe i was lucky). i also might want to mention that im still on windows 10 as a friend of mine who likes to play POE with me, had latency problems and framerate issues + random crashes and disconnects etc. for months, not knowing what it was, set up his PC again with windows 10 instead of 11 (after many other tries of getting it fixed from tribers of graphics and audio to different rednering engine, etc. etc.) and it miraculously went as smooth as my experience in those months after (again, might not be causal, just mentioning it in case someone has run out of options and is happy to have ideas what else to try -> windows 11 has some known issues with gaming and compatibility in general).
- i dont think having just one map is a problem as modded maps are already out (or about 80% fisnished) and - at least for me- release faster than i could play them. i prefer them delaying that shit 4-5 times over releasing it half-assed like they kind of did with the base game (mashes and shit are really annoying - aka dinos getting stuck, falling through ground, etc.)
- im not playing online so i cant argue about that.
In ASA I can't even save changes to my keybindes on Xbox series x, even though I got an update mid game a couple of days ago.
Smalland, do not forget this game on gamepass, PC and PlayStation5. That particular title has engrossed us for two weeks so much so that we’ve already beat the final boss.
Lost faith in Wildcard after Dark and Light, Last Oasis, Outlaws of the Old West, and Atlas. "All garbage cash grabs that had decent premise but piss poor take the money and run attitude.
"I can't remember the last time I saw an update on console" *update drops the day the video*
I just have one final question: How many licks from a tootsie pop does it take to get to The Center?
Palworld welcomes all ❤

@@kokorochin01 I like the ease of put in disc and play game. I don’t have to fiddle with settings or upgrade parts. Had no issues with ark ascendant but you know each is their own
lol, I said it from the start, it's going to take them years to trickle out the maps. As long as it took them to release Evo's maps.
Where did that thumbnail come from?
Does anyone know the answer to my suffering? My Xbox series s crashes randomly with ASA. No rhyme or reason. Tried everything.
Also. That foliage! Why are trees so thick and bushy! Can’t see a damn thing.
100% acknowledgement!
Snail games and wild card need to sell this Franchise to another company so they can save this game
I saw today that ASA is on sale for 40% off on Steam... still not sure if it's worth it at this time...
If they say they did not use old code and this is not the case ...is that false advertising? Class action law suitable.
Playing ASA on pc and still waiting for a upscaler after 4 months.
