great job man. I have gone over this issue for two days trying to figure this out. Even though I have already ordered another replacement, you know how us men are. We dont like to be defeated by a damn mechanical device as simple as this.

These carbs probably have about 4 disassemblies before they're unusable. You're doing God's work with this vid.

When servicing the carb, slide the piece in, even though you could snap it in. Prevents wear and tear.

Thanks! Got one now that seeps. Knew it was clean. Even swabbed the seat with carb cleaner on a q-tip. I’ll try a heat gun to squeeze them together. Heat up and squeeze, like when the air filters don’t stay latched. Edit: didn’t work. The heat gun allowed me to,tighten the pin holders but it still leaked. These needles are garbage.

Great information! I also found another problem that has to do where linkage of the thermister hooks up on the plastic part. It's kind a low because when I try to make sure thermister is working freely without and obstructions and when pulled on the link several time that part swing backwards and the end of the linkage connector gets caught at bottom with the spring below. Hence making the brass carb butterfly plate shut and stops the carb from working properly. I don't mind a plastic carb but they need to tweek it a bit more so it could function properly without these issues..

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, just buy an aftermarket carb for around $10
    Part Number: Briggs Stratton 592361
I love everything about this mower except for the carb... Have had to take it apart every season and the lines are always gunked up green, after taking it apart a few times the gaskets were no longer good and it leaked, tried everything, RTV etc. still leaked.
Soo I bought 3 carbs, no more spending countless hours and back to mowing.

interesting I'm here because I changed my oil and I may have slightly overfilled it and as I started mowing oil was coming out of the air filter so I immediately stop the machine put it away luckily I have a backup but I don't know if it's from overfilling or if I have another issue with the carb. Anyhow I bought this lawn mower which is a snapper all-wheel drive I got it from Walmart 5 years ago for $270 and besides changing blades and changing the oil regularly I've never had to touch the carb luckily. I will say I only use 93 octane fuel and all of my small engines and I have yet to have a problem including my tecumsah snowblowers. Best of luck and wish me luck!

I you live in an area that sell ethanol free gas, use it in all you small engines. If not stabilizer helps some. During storage. Better still in off season drain the gas tank and run the engine until gas is used up. Pull the bowl and drain it too. A squirt of ATF in the carb afterward helps protect seals and needle from drying out.

Great video!! I was having some real issues with a E450 that uses the same/simalar carb that leaks fuel into either the bore or the air filter, i changed the needle and it still did it, i was just about to buy a float when i came across you video....... I will sack that idea and just buy a replacement carb.

Needle and seat, not pin. End of needle is rubber, not plastic. That said, had a leaker just yesterday on this plastic Briggs carb. Glad you pointed out that the pin holding float in can develop slop in it. Makes total sense.

Got two of these engines in the shop, both with the same issue you got. Wish they would make the carbs more sturdy.

Possibly some jb weld under the pin would have worked for awhile. Until next time float had to come out maybe.

You can actually open up that jet with a small drill bit so it doesn't clog so easily, Teryl Fixes All has a video on it. But I have one of these brand new carbs already leaking.

Thank you this a great vid. I followed this repair. But now the gas is shooting little bit out the leak vent from the gas tank. This drenching the air filter. Briggs TB200

The breather tube? Make sure you put the needle in the right way. Sounds like it is getting too much gas and is flooding.

Maybe slide out & slide in the float pin from the side as opposed to popping it straight out would not 'stretch out' the pin holder. Looks like it will clear ok this way possibly. Almost wager that it is not supposed to be 'popped' or snapped in / out.

So, Briggs & Strat! : we want the 2 Hole’er back!!!! 🙄. Reduce the plastic into the landfill! Even non-tree hugging, gasoline mower guys know that!

I'm confused. Your saying you don't mind the plastic construction of the carb but yet the malfunction of the carb was due to pre mature wear on a plastic arm? The idea of plastic carbs, intakes, etc. has never been a good idea. It's just companies cost cutting

I like use of O-rings and plastic that would last a lot longer than gaskets, but they need to refine the design.

  • @jwayne777

    NO!!!****slide the pin!!
    DONT POP OUT THE PIN.
Everytime you pop it out you wear out the plastic. Yes they are garbage but user error popping them out instead of sliding, wears them out.

Btw, Briggs&Stratton is an American company.
