its better to Put their bottoms Into water. If you only rub the dirt of it Takes longer and you pull their coat to much. If their are soaked in dirt you need to soak IT in water.
I have 2 bunnys with the same problem there back legs are flat out but there arms are fine they are so much work but every day I clean up after them and there butts
The bunny sleeping in the pillow should be made into a photo and entered into pet contests. It’s so adorable any prize money could be donated to Vicki’s rescue. Thank you for all the work the two of you do!
Oh man...the splayed leg buns just melt my heart. They always seem to still be so curious and adventurous regardless of their condition. So sad yet so endearing. I lub them. 🥰 Those semicircle pillows work really great and as they get older they'll learn to help physically support each other too.
My old bunny was like that my mom adopted him off the free list and he loved kids we needed a lot of carpet or else he would slide around he lived to be 8 before we had to sadly put him down he was just like a normal bun
I had a disabled rabbit with a deformed jaw who was found out in nature with a tooth growing into his face. Even after it was removed, he couldn't chew with his remaining front teeth or clean himself properly. His bonded bunny friend cleaned his face and I cleaned his butt. I also had to chop up all his veggies really small and trim his remaining teeth regularly. He also loved to "chew" on my fingers with his bare gums. He lived a long, happy life despite his disability.
SEEING THESE POOR RABBITS IN THIS TERRIBLE CONDITION IS HEARTBREAKING AND IMO IT'S CRUEL TO KEEP THEM ALIVE!! What quality of life do they have? Do you really think they enjoy laying in their own feces and urine every day? Rabbits have very thin and delicate skin, so think of the painful sores and infections that can cause!! Do you think they enjoy being washed, laid on their backs, and being pulled about every day? They're also at risk of FLYSTRIKE. What FUN are these rabbits having? Neither of them look happy to me and it would be a HUGE KINDNESS having them put to sleep. We had one of our beloved rabbits put to sleep two months ago, it broke out hearts but knew it was the right and the kindest thing we could do.
@@kimj4402 sorry but what is wrong with you i understand our concerns but do you not see how horrible it is to say they shouldnt be alive just because theyre disabled if given the proper care disabled animals can live long, healthy, and happy lives of course if they are in danger and pain they should be put to sleep but with these bunnies all they need is some extra care so they can heal from their previous poor conditions would you say this about a disabled human? i understand where youre coming from but this is a horrible mindset to have, you dont even think they should be given a chance.
@@vanaba_aaa Do you honestly think these rabbits are happy? They can't run, play, chase, jump, dig, binky, mate, groom to keep themselves clean, or even eat their Cecotropes. I see no quality of life for these poor rabbits, only a miserable existence. What part of their lives do you think is HAPPY? 🤔
For cats and dogs with legs like that, they bind their legs together in the correct position and it enables them to get around and develop muscular strength to finally be able to hold their legs straight and get around.
Yeah I think the kitten lady has a video where she treats a "swimmer" kitten. The very first google search I did for "splay leg rabbit" suggests that bandaging their legs can help if they're young, so I'm not sure why the person in this video says there's no treatment options. She does say "sometimes they can get braces made" but doesn't go into it, and apparently she doesn't seem to be taking that as an option for these bunnies.
Exactly-they are still growing and could absolutely have their legs put in correct alignment. They are not 'getting around just fine,' they can't even function like normal rabbits. This lady is in major denial.
Depending on how long their like that.. or if they were born .. it could be impossible to bind them. And the splayed legs could be related to being inbred?? Or something happened to mom while they were in the womb. I rescued a disabled kit she couldn't use one of her back legs, after exam it was discovered to be an injury from womb or right after birth.. nothing could be done.. it was spine related. She could feel her leg and would twitch her toes.. she lived in the house with another bun a disabled buck, he had been attacked by a dog 3 years ago and had lil control of his back legs.. this happened 20 years ago , so a cart for him wasn't a option. But while he couldn't move his back legs he could still hop. So they lived together.. the young doe got quite big some giant was in her. Around her 3yrs she was experiencing pain and was refusing to move, and the buck was 6 at this time experiencing the issues but arthritis set in to his spine affecting his front legs. Because they didn't have options back then and we're clearly in pain, we put them to sleep together.. she was like a daughter to him. I was in middle school then, I'm a middle aged woman now.. and I still remember them being so playful and sweet. We took them for rides in the car with us. They would sit with me in the back seat looking out the windows at all the green. It was due to them, being a kid feeling like I could've done more.. even thou nothing me or my bunny smart parents could do, multiple vets/visits for both. As a adult I rescued a bun that last his foot and bottom of his leg to a dog. He was dumped at a private dog rescued.. the injury happened the owner came out to find/save him. But no one would take him after that. We came with donations, she asked if we would be interested in a dog because we brought 200.00 worth of supplies. I laughed and said no dogs.. I have bunnies at home.. well ❤️🩹 I went home with a "free" bun that day.. such a sweetie we named him cotton. He passed of a heart attack 4 yrs later at age of 5.
Lorelei, this video made me cry. Buns like them definitely need more attention, but their lives are precious like any other bunny. As a person who is disabled and have spinal deformity, if they were my bunnies I would fight with my teeth for their life. I don't get why this person, who knows that can end up with disabled baby bunnies won't just spay or neuter their buns. It's expensive, but you are responsible for any animal you have, people should consider it before they get a pet. I have really strong opinion about it, but there are words that I better save for myself.
My brother became disabled as an adult and he constantly compares himself to what he used to be, as we live in a society that values the most superficial things about human beings. I've seen owners of disabled animals use them to educate people. Children in particular can identify with a cute bunny and hopefully grow up learning to respect everyone regardless of disability. Unfortunately we live in a time when life is treated as disposable. As you said, look how irresponsible people are with their pets - then consider that many are just as bad with their children. There are too many hypocrites out there that call this progress.
@@elisaastorino2881 I agree with you. There's not much that makes me angry more than irresponsible people. As it was in The Little Prince, 'You are responsible for what you tamed', I think it's one of the most important quotes in literature, it applies to everything, starting with children and pets, to environment. But people often forget about it.
I too have a strong opinion that all animals that we have a surplus of, including humans, should be neutered and spayed ideally in the form of a single easy to swallow medication.
It would be more humane to feed these useless bunnies to another capable pet, like a lizard or a python. You'll end their misery while feeding another animal.
@@artroseumbaum8015 just because something needs more care does that mean it doesnt deserve life? at what point do we draw the line in that. these bunnies are not screaming out in pain, do they not deserve a loving home?
Seeing those bunnies sleep comfortably in the pillows just melted my heart! Rabbits are such beautiful animals no matter what shape or form they come in! They are in such good hands! 🥰
I will never understand how people can act so inhumanly toward harmless animals. I’m glad there are people who strive to actively protect these animals.
Wheelchairs can actually work really well for these types of bunnies. As it takes the weight of their limbs and they then only need a little bit of movement to get around. Physio can also really help to build up their muscles to keep the joints in place. You can tie a loop of scarf around their back, so it surport and lifts their bum. Then lift it just enough that they can put their paws on the ground. Let them walk around like this as you surport them once a day, building up over time, and they'll slowly gain the muscle they need to move better on their own.
I tend to specialize in chickens, but they can have the same issue. It's either genetic or flooring based, and in chickens it's corrected with a cast they wear for a few days. I didn't know that this could also happen in bunnies, I thought it was mostly a bird problem!
Puppies can actually get this too!! It's quite sad in all animals. I didn't know chickens could get it too!! For some reason my mind immediately went to only quadrupeds could!
@@pyroryx In puppies its known as swimmer's syndrome. It can get better if the joints are regularly worked out. Also helps if you tape the legs together to help them learn how to walk. Similar to chickens or other birds with splayed legs. Might be worth checking to see if such methods would work on these bunnies.
As someone with bunnies as a special interest, I’ve definitely heard about splayed legged bunnies and I’ve always wanted to adopt one so this little glimpse of fostering is very helpful and I learned a bit more about them.
Lorelai, Thank you for making this video! As a disabled Person, I know that we need to normalize disability, and not make it into something that is gross or disgusting. People often often mistreat other humans who are disabled. I can't imagine how disabled bunnies are treated. I'm also happy to know that there are rescues who take in disabled bunnies.. My Bunny Venus, has been the light of my Sometimes she is my only source of love and affection. I'm glad to know disabled bunnies have their own special rescue. I hope people educate themselves on disability in all species and stop treating them as less than. Much love, Donna and Venus bun bun
I can only confirm your words. Caused by an autoimmune disease I suffer from polyneuropathy and small Fibre neuropathy, and additional hereditary athrosis in my knees. I can't walk without crutches and I am sometimes bullied for that reason. I don't think disabled animals want to be euthanized, so who am I to judge if their life is worth living? I want to live, too, and so did my former handicapped rabbits and pigeons.
I went to a pet store last night, the one where I got my mini holland lop, & I was in shock. They had 2 separate open top glass living areas with at least 10 or more in each section. Usually the bunnies are shy & sleepy but this time when I put my hand in, they all ran to me & one tried chewing my bracelet ( it’s string & resembles hay). After further inspection, neither section had any hay nor did they have pellets, & their water was grossly filled with bedding & feces. They had poop in their hair, it was awful. Immediately my husband went to an associate as I found the almost empty hay bin & started giving them hay. They all literally jumped on it pushing & shoving each other to get some. It was so sad. The worker eventually came over & filled the pellets for one group & I had to split it between the second group of bunnies. I am livid. They need to be reported or something for how they take care of these bunnies. Needless to say, before I left, almost every bunny had a full belly & were laying down content.
Please call animal control or animal services in your area and report what you saw... you can also ask for the owner of the stores name and phone number as maybe their employees are lazy smart asses and know they won't be in till a certain day & so the employee doesn't fulfill their daily duties!!
Thanks for fostering, such an important thing to do. Just to clarify, there are actually treatments for splayed, that do basically cure them. I’m glad they’ll go to the splayed leg rescue. Hopefully they’ll be on their way to better mobility soon.
I've had a black rabbit named Rutabaga since early 2017 when my mom found him on the road, laying down. Someone shot a pellet into the back of his spine because rabbits were eating in his garden, and he just left the bunny to suffer. He's still going 5 years later, in a similar laying position to these wabbits. He has an older albino brother, Roger, who looks after him, and he'll soon have a pillow for his back. Thank you for that information. It really helps and I'm excited to make him more comfy after so long. :)
Gosh, its so sad to think of an innocent life suffering for just wanting to exist... Thank you for giving him a chance, I am sure he will be thankful for the pillow too ❤
This video made me cry! I have three bunnies adopted from the shelter, they spent there almost two years because... nobody wanted to take three bonded ones. My second choice was a disabled bunny but... she got adopted on the same day! Every little one deserves to live and to be loved
This is so sad but these rabbits can live a happy bun life! I know of a severely disabled rabbit named Jon Snow. He looks like he is in bad condition but when his mom pets him he loves it. He loves treats. He loves to eat hay. He can't move without help but yet I could see in his eyes he was happy. Thank ya'll and the foster bunmom for saving these babies. Great fundraiser!
Awwwww omg those babies...😭 My baby bun is disabled from the front legs but she is so lovely and lively. I am so glad those cute fluffity babies are getting a chance to live. As always, thank you for doing so much!! And for cleaning the butt, you can give them almost regular butt baths to keep the butt cleaner and dont try to clean everything at once. Over regular baths (with bunny shampoo to remove the pee), the tangled hard fur will soften and will either fall off or the poop will soften and get pulled off easier. Also I saw when you bathed them that the skin is quite reddened from the poop and pee, so you can rub a little bit of fungal creams like Candiderm to help a little. It will help the skin heal faster (from my own experience though) And overall, it's better to keep the hair/fur around the butt short. Carefully shaving from the stomach down till the butt ends will make it easier to keep the butt dry instead of getting drenched in pee and them having to stay with a wet butt until the next bath. I wish I could adopt those babies and take care of them forever 😭 Also thank you for buying those neck pillows for them. They looked like they felt comfortable getting surrounded bt that soft pillow. Not to be a know-it-all but just another tip. What you could do is adding like an actual bedding for them. Like an old comforter would be really nice, just tearing it up in 4~8 pieces depending on the size needed and then adding some absorbant towels on top that can be re-washed to absorb the pee and keep the comforter clean. It's essentially just meant to relieve some of the weight and pressure and esp as they get older and heavier. Putting them on a comforter and seeing them sink down on it but being way more comfy than on the hard floor would be a relieving feeling haha. My bunny has a dog/cat bed with a comforter (cut in 4 and then folded up) alongside some fluffy towels and then 2 absorbant towel on top (like the ones you use to bath that I cut up too in pieces). Even when she pees a lot, the pee does not usually go farther than 3 towels. I clean her up everyday, at least 3 times or everytime she pees/poop but I only clean the first 2 towels while the comforter gets changed every 1 or 2 weeks. She can't reach back at all so she also does not eat her poops since she has gotten paralysed from the front and I do sometimes give her the soft poops to eat up, other times, I don't and she seems to be doing quite ok without them for now. And for my bunny, she still has use of her back legs but she cant even sit on both legs as she gets sore socks or just falls down on one side completely so its my habit to shift her from the right to the left day by day so she doesnt crush one side only. So maybe with those bunnies too, could try putting them down on the sides (altho if the splayed legs can be flexible enough to bend to the sides) to make them get off their stomach and neck sometimes and relieve pressure. Another great thing is also grabbing them and walking around with them. Holding their body up for then instead of them having to do the work while also walking for them and showing them around and getting them in the sun makes them much more happier and involved and they glow a lot more after those trips 🥺🥰 As those bunnies are also more fragile and sometimes find it hard to keep their head up and eat etc, I also invest in critical care to feed them other than just hay/grass/pellets but that's not an option for everyone I know so just a suggestion. But mine does not eat her soft dark poops so I do tend to give her hay/grass/pellets alongside additional fruits and salads and treats almost everyday, way more than a normal healthy bunny needs (critical care is given when she gets tired of eating or her mouth is sore or she is sick or she has been in too much of an uncomfortable position to eat by herself etc). If I don't feed her fruits like kiwis, apples, bananas or salads like lettuce, parsley, bok choy, she loses weight fast. Just a handful/a bowl per day seems to be enough for my 3 kg bunny (who used to be 5 kg but has gone down since she got paralysed) while her other foods like grass/hay are constant/unlimited throughout the day. I do also give her additional serum once every 2 days or when i think she needs some extra water/energy. Serum is made by adding 1.5 teaspoons of sugar in around 150ml of water and then adding barely 2 or 3 drops of salt just a tinyyyy pinch and then mixing and giving her. I also sometimes give her the serum after I give her the monthly worm medication to get the bad taste out. She reallly loves drinking serum but as sugar us not good for bunnies, do not overfeed them that, just whenever you think your bunny is a little groggy or lethargic. Sorry for the rambling but I have my bunny who has splayed front legs and it's sad to hear about others getting euthanised for something like this and I want to hopefully help a little in something by sharing my experience. Bunnies with disabilities also deserve a chance. They deserve all the love and attention and care. A pet is not a decoration. It's a life who needs to be taken care of and if you get a bunny or any pet for that matter of fact, you have to accept to look after them, no matter in what condition they are in. Please be wise and ready before getting a pet and give those babies as best a life as possible ❤❤ Also the two babies here, I hope they can be adopted by someone who has the means and time to look after them...I really wish I could but I live so far away. Gosh, please anyone who is able to, please help out 😭❤ Edit:I forgot to add... idk about hereditary/birth splayed legs but I also do have to regularly massage and like exercise my bunnies front legs so they don't get stiff...so that is something to look into as well. Some physical exercise/theraphy could probably help their joints a bit especially because they are able to stretch out their fingers etc 😭 Good luck with this! Thank you as always for trying to do so much depsite the fact it probably breaks your heart to see those poor babies being so undeserving of anything bad and yet being paralysed like this. Sometimes you just want to turn your brain off and live in bliss that all animals/pets are being treated right but doing that does not help. Even if my mental moods change drastically, I also try to be active in the pet community to be aware and to try and help out at least one life instead of living in my own ignorant bliss. Sorry about the sudden rant, but it's just I am so thankful to you doing those things and helping out Lorelei 😭❤ (Love seeing Lennon being so chill haha, the cutie pie 🥰❤)
Also I forgot to mention but I completely avoid water bowls cuz they are dangerous and the buns can choke if they suddenly fall and can no longer support their neck etc so I syringe feed them water daily. I bought a 60 ml syringe because they do need a lot of water but the bigger the syringe is, the more water it contains and the easier it is for them to choke up as well so be sure to do it slowly and carefully when giving them the water by pushing the syringe barely at all. Or holding them up under the arms, being careful not to push against their chest too hard and preventing them from breathing or pressing too hard against their arms, one can hold a water bowl under their mouth so they drink more comfortably than them having to hold themselves up to try and get a desperate bit of water and risking falling into the bowl. If I think of anything else I will add them...
Can we first stop and say how truly incredible that woman is she really does so much with all these rabbits she does things that most couldn’t even imagine all the rabbits that abused, injured etc she truly is a beautiful soul. Lorelei ( prob spelled wrong) you are amazing as well.
I'm so happy that you and Vikki did this for them. You guys will help a bunny no matter what the condition is and makes me so joyful and happy you guys are the best
At the rescue I volunteer with we have two splayed legged. The rescue owner bonded them with a abled bun so that she should help keep them clean. Of course they are now all old, so the rescue owner has to do it again, but it's possible. Oh, and there is another way they can become splayed... Improper handling, like a kid picking up bins by the legs, can cause it. One of ours happened that way sadly.
I have a splayed leg holland lop. His back legs are splayed. He is the sweetest and nothing stops him from doing what he wants. He loves scratches especially the places he can’t do it himself. He is just like a normal rabbit. He is free roamed in my room and gets around very easy. I just want to say thank you for this video. When I first got him I knew hardly anything about splayed legs and there’s hardly any information on it. So thank you for letting more people know and understand more about our splayed leg buns.
I spent a lot of this video crying. When I see acts of human kindness due to its rarity it really effects me. My faith in humanity is restored today ❤️🐇❤️
You and Vicki are so sweet and all bunnies that meet you are so lucky! I love the fact that that you would let any bunny who had to stay somewhere stay at your place. I hate anyone who would treat any animal badly especially if its an animal with no voice and if someones pet has an injury then they should seek vet help. All the bunnies that you and Vicki look after instantly seem to trust you.
Watched this through teary eyes. Such sweet bunnies. Thanks don’t seem enough, so hoping my contribution goes a little way to helping out. You two and the other rescue organisation are angels. Jono
Thank you Lorelaie for adopting these beautiful rabbits and thank you Vicki for stepping in to secure them every rabbit disabled or not deserves a loving home where they feel loved and warm and compassion What you both do im in awwe of keep doing what your doing because your moving mounds I have 2 rescue and disabled rabbits called Cocoa and Watsitt they have separate disabilities Watsitt is blind and Cocoa sadly has 3 legs yes they are a big commitment but I will and forever bend over backwards for them to make sure they have everything they need and require
I just want to say as a person who has always had bunnies and Guinea pigs, I think it is amazing that u save bunnies and give them good homes. We need more people in the world like u. :)
My rescue bun has given me such a boost for life. She doesn't like to be held, but she loves her pats and she gives plenty of kisses. She went through a lot before finding her forever home with me. She is giver of joy and I love her presence.
As someone who has adopted 2 bunnies for about two years now this is very interesting to me because I don't know how much being unable to hop would utterly cripple the poor thing. Thank you for being such a kind soul
You've helped me so much with my bunnies I can't even explain. Although they've chewed so much to the point where my parents don't want them in the house, they're gonna live outside now. As much as I don't want it we're gonna do the most to make it safe for them. I got a hutch for them to go into and connected a very big xpen to it which will be protected over the top, so they can run around whenever:) we got some warm blankets and toys and treats and a fluffy big heat pad for when it gets chilly, and I'll make sure to continue to treat them very well. I just wanna say if I never watched your channel they'd definitely still be in a tiny cage with a bad litter box, somewhere in my house. But they're happier and healthy now! I am hoping to get my second bunny fixed soon. They're currently living in their big xpen in the garage and it's a good setup we're just switching them outside and adding a hutch for extra safety! If you have any tips I'd LOVE some.
Oh my heart!!! 🥺 I just melted. and thank you for spreading awareness about terrible people and good people doing a difference in this sad world. Thank you, Lennon!
Oh my, I wasn’t ready 😢 this has blown my mind. I had no clue about this condition. I have to say, its quite shocking to see it for the first time. 💔😢 So precious, I wish nothing but the best for them 🕊
Happy to give! They are so cute!! You ladies do wonderful work!! Thank you so much! I'm glad to hear they don't have pain so they can have a good quality of life! I adopted my bunny as a special needs. As time went on, her problems became more apparent. But she is now a healthy and happy special needs bun! ❤❤
Little angels they need lots of love too, I hope they find a happy home. You are so amazing Lorelei for spreading awareness. I hope one day I could inspire people like you.
They are amazing. Thank you to all the help you do and the rescues! I took in a litter of bunnies in NY rescue a while back that were from a bad situation. One of them had hind splayed legs. Not nearly as bad as these babies but my vet suggested coming up with something to keep her back legs in a proper position. I did crochet a piece that worked quite well and it did help her up until the sad day she passed. Unfortunately all except 1 baby ended up passing. A lot of then had some genetic teeth issues going on and we did all we could to save them but it wasn't enough.
You’re awesome for helping out! I don’t think there’s enough people who are dedicated enough to take them while also having the time to do it. It would be worse for them if they were living like they previously were rather than being sent to heaven peacefully. Hopefully more research becomes available to help the condition and sanctuaries open up.
Thank you so much for being a voice for bunnies everywhere! These babies are adorable and I hope that someone truly amazing adopts them to give them the best life ever. Bunnies Lives Matter!
aww man, this was upsetting to see their conditions 😭 i have a splayed leg free roam bunny that does binkies all over the house so i hurt for these bunbuns~ but thankful to know there are those that care. keep up the good fight Lorelei & Vicki 💖
Vicki and Lorelei are so caring to raise bunnies like these. It's sad that they have a condition like this. They'll never be able to hop and do binkies or zoomies. But they are beautiful and special in their own way. It requires someone with a really good heart to take care of special needs bunnies like these. I had a bunny once that developed this condition in it's hind legs after 3 months and I had to clean its rear end a few times a day. Sadly it did not live a full life but we bonded more closely than any other rabbit I've cared for. Because their mobility is limited, they can stay by your side for long periods of time.
The second I saw this video and the babies I screen shotted it and sent to my mom, she’s had many bunnies and I have one currently right now. She immediately asked where they were cause she was ready to leave work to rescue them, the only issue is we live in NY🥺but I’m so happy they ended up in the right hands💕I wish you, mermaid, sleepy, and Lennon the best and just know that you and the bunny rescue are two amazing people💖keep doing what your doing😊❤️❤️
We have had 2 bunnies with this condition and they never survive for long...we currently have another one who is hanging in there. I hope the best for those babies!
I have 4 rabbits aka Lola٫pepper٫salty٫ and kiwi. Kiwi is special needs bun and he loves the pillow. He kinda had the same story but a little different. He was a case of illegal breeding/ street breeding as I like to call it. sadly he was born special needs but not only do I take care of him my other bunnies do. Especially Lola she will clean him and it really helps him and also it probably dose not hurt him as much. Just had to share a little story.😊
It’s so sad how life can be unfair to such wonderful creatures… I’m really glad they are in Vickies hands and yours . God bless you and Vickie for helping neglected bunnies
Thank you for such a heart felt and informative video Lorelei. And thank you to Vicki for rescuing them. Thank you for giving these little buns the love that so many special needs bunnies need. I hope they're able to find a loving home ❤
Dear Lorelei, I just want to tell u that I learned sooo much of ur Chanel. I’m from Germany and absolutely love ur content. As a kid my parents gifted me a bunny but to be honest, he lived so badly with us and as a kid I thought it was right bc my parent told me. Now I’m 17 years old (moved out at 16) and got 4 bunny’s myself (one male and 3 females) I improved so much bc of ur Chanel and I just want to give u a big thank you!! I would love to meet you in person but I know that’s not gonna happen bc it’s so difficult for you to come here. I appreciate you very much. Keep going!! (please excuse my english, german is my foreign language)
I have a very elderly rabbit named Petey who is 15 and a half - I'm amazed he has lived this long and I've had him from the time he was a young bun. He had a bad foot break last year and I had to make a choice to amputate his foot or euthanasia. It was so tough but I decided to give the surgery a chance because even though he's old, he was still quite strong and healthy. He came through the amputation and with lots of care and time he is doing really well. I clean him up & remove any dry poop he can't get to, make sure he's comfy and can reach all his food/water/etc. He's still such a happy old bun, loves attention and eats really well - I'll care for him til the end whenever he's ready to go, he's been with me for so long :) It's great to see you bringing attention to these special needs bunnies!! They are well worth the time and love 🥰
I have a disable bunny. His back legs are paralyzed. I have to take some extra care of him. I do everything I can to make his life happy and easy. I can't think a moment without him,I love him so much! He is a sweet little boy❤
I just cried omg I feel so bad for the bunnies..... (edit) OMG U JUST MADE MY DAY BY LIKING THIS💗💗 And lorelei? I tried all ur videos on how to get ur bunny to like you, and I do that stuff! I got her 3 months ago and she still is scared of me! I talk in a soothing voice, I groom her and feed her treats..
I love that you do this. I get online and see all these meat bunnies and splayed buns and i go outside and see all the dumped bunnies but you just save so many bunnies it melts my heart!! I am so thankfull for you Lorelei
good on you for taking them regardless of their disability! my boy blue is blind and i wouldn't have it any other way. his meds are expensive but its worth it for how much they improve his quality of life.
13:24 this part of your speech was such a relief. I was asking myself are they sad or feeling bad about themselves. It’s so good that they don’t feel that way.
Thanks for the thoughtful care! A couple of nitpicky points: 1) Bunnies don't usually like being picked up and held high in the air as you're doing with them. It reminds them instinctively of predator behaviour so it causes considerable stress; 2) Bunnies have extremely sensitive digestive systems so it's not recommended that you touch their food unless you've washed your hands thoroughly. Better to use a measuring cup, tongs or some other implement to protect them from the tremendous amount of bacteria on our hands. Thanks again to bunny rescuers everywhere!
Amazing little ones! Thanks to everyone who takes care of disabled, neglected and abused animals (especially bunnies!) For the raw skin, I used calendula ointment on my mini lop who had matted fur underneath with poop stuck to it and urine scald when I rescued her. It's very soothing and will help heal the skin. Love to Lennon (and you too!)
You are the guardian Angel of so many bunnies. You, Vikki, and Lennon are. Your channel will be the main reason I one day become a wonderful bunny owner. I can't wait to eventually give my heart and love to a bunny or 2. (Adoption, rescue of course) ❤❤❤
A couple of weeks ago, my brother brought me a little black bunny that someone had left in his car. He has talked to the girl since, and she's glad the bunny has found a good home. Bobka (it's a more fitting name than Marble Rye-- thank you, Seinfeld!) seems pretty happy, she was very well socialized already, though she's happy to have a place to hide out, as well as fresh water, hay, and vegetables I'm glad she isn't splay-legged, though now I have a clue how to care for someone with such problems. Thank you so much, Lorlei!
Good that they are out of that mess. But honestly my baseline for wellfare is not met given how much trouble they have doing absolute basics like selfgrooming, eating their cecotropes (i.e. no matter how good the feed they are malnourished) and getting around. Since they are able to be potty trained they posses the instinct to stay clean/not soil the den/nest. Being unable to do those things for themselves makes me agree with shelters that euthanise bunnies with such problems.
It’s so sad how no one wants to adopt those bunnies but I appreciate you both trying to help them I rlly appreciate animal rescuers I have full respect for them when I get older I will adopt one of those bunnies cause they deserve a loving home yk
Thank you so much for bringing awareness. Praying for these little ones and for the very loving and compassionate people who care for special needs bunnies. They're adorable.
What do you think of Sleepy and Mermaid?? Comment below!
its better to Put their bottoms Into water. If you only rub the dirt of it Takes longer and you pull their coat to much. If their are soaked in dirt you need to soak IT in water.
I think that’s a wonderful name for the bunns
Sounds amazing!
I love the names! They fit into each other 💖
I have 2 bunnys with the same problem there back legs are flat out but there arms are fine they are so much work but every day I clean up after them and there butts

The bunny sleeping in the pillow should be made into a photo and entered into pet contests. It’s so adorable any prize money could be donated to Vicki’s rescue. Thank you for all the work the two of you do!
That's a good idea. Or bunny merch as a card!
Oh man...the splayed leg buns just melt my heart. They always seem to still be so curious and adventurous regardless of their condition. So sad yet so endearing. I lub them. 🥰
Those semicircle pillows work really great and as they get older they'll learn to help physically support each other too.
My old bunny was like that my mom adopted him off the free list and he loved kids we needed a lot of carpet or else he would slide around he lived to be 8 before we had to sadly put him down he was just like a normal bun
@@lifeotms that’s great that he was still able to live a long life
I had a disabled rabbit with a deformed jaw who was found out in nature with a tooth growing into his face.
God bless you for taking care of that bunny ❤ Glad there are people like you who care!
Ik they were born like this but it’s so upsetting to see, no bunny should have to live like this. I’m glad they are in good hands
That’s nice :)
SEEING THESE POOR RABBITS IN THIS TERRIBLE CONDITION IS HEARTBREAKING AND
IMO IT'S CRUEL TO KEEP THEM ALIVE!!
@@kimj4402 sorry but what is wrong with you
i understand our concerns but do you not see how horrible it is to say they shouldnt be alive just because theyre disabled
if given the proper care disabled animals can live long, healthy, and happy lives
of course if they are in danger and pain they should be put to sleep but with these bunnies all they need is some extra care so they can heal from their previous poor conditions
would you say this about a disabled human? i understand where youre coming from but this is a horrible mindset to have, you dont even think they should be given a chance.
Forcing them to suffer like this is NOT in good hands this is cruel. This is disgusting g .
That is true, vets say to do that and vets do do it for you and help you with it. The animals do improve.
excactly, also human babies can have Swimmerlegs. So she should give them the right therapy before it grows into a permanent state of disability.
@@alpyki2588
It's the same name with kittens, if I'm not mistaken, as well.
Much love,
Donna and Venus bun bun
I can only confirm your words. Caused by an autoimmune disease I suffer from polyneuropathy and small Fibre neuropathy, and additional hereditary athrosis in my knees. I can't walk without crutches and I am sometimes bullied for that reason. I don't think disabled animals want to be euthanized, so who am I to judge if their life is worth living?
I want to live, too, and so did my former handicapped rabbits and pigeons.
Awww 🥰 bunnos!

That's why I don't support pet stores
Be careful about where you get your pets.
Please call animal control or animal services in your area and report what you saw... you can also ask for the owner of the stores name and phone number as maybe their employees are lazy smart asses and know they won't be in till a certain day & so the employee doesn't fulfill their daily duties!!
I live in the UK myself but I would be not for a millisecond hesitate to contact the authorities.
@@kimvarki Agree. I would never buy from a pet store either.
I've had special needs rabbits before, and I must say you are doing a wonderful job!
I had one too he was off a free list
He does have seizures ocassionally, but he's mostly very content and happy with his home, as far as I can tell. (Been away for college for a year.)
Awww
Gosh, its so sad to think of an innocent life suffering for just wanting to exist...
Thank you for giving him a chance, I am sure he will be thankful for the pillow too ❤
Thank you for loving him ❤
Poor little guy. Good thing you found him
This video made me cry! I have three bunnies adopted from the shelter, they spent there almost two years because... nobody wanted to take three bonded ones. My second choice was a disabled bunny but... she got adopted on the same day! Every little one deserves to live and to be loved
it was so cute seeing them all curled up in the pillows
imagine all the pain there in to not be able to hop around and seeing lennon hop around
i gotta give this chick the respect she deserves for doing this kind of work. Beautiful girl with a beautiful heart
Awwwww omg those babies...😭
My baby bun is disabled from the front legs but she is so lovely and lively.
It will help the skin heal faster (from my own experience though)
And overall, it's better to keep the hair/fur around the butt short. Carefully shaving from the stomach down till the butt ends will make it easier to keep the butt dry instead of getting drenched in pee and them having to stay with a wet butt until the next bath.
I wish I could adopt those babies and take care of them forever 😭
Also thank you for buying those neck pillows for them.
Holding their body up for then instead of them having to do the work while also walking for them and showing them around and getting them in the sun makes them much more happier and involved and they glow a lot more after those trips 🥺🥰
As those bunnies are also more fragile and sometimes find it hard to keep their head up and eat etc, I also invest in critical care to feed them other than just hay/grass/pellets but that's not an option for everyone I know so just a suggestion.
Please be wise and ready before getting a pet and give those babies as best a life as possible ❤❤
Also the two babies here, I hope they can be adopted by someone who has the means and time to look after them...I really wish I could but I live so far away. Gosh, please anyone who is able to, please help out 😭❤
Edit:I forgot to add... idk about hereditary/birth splayed legs but I also do have to regularly massage and like exercise my bunnies front legs so they don't get stiff...so that is something to look into as well. Some physical exercise/theraphy could probably help their joints a bit especially because they are able to stretch out their fingers etc 😭
Good luck with this!
Sorry about the sudden rant, but it's just I am so thankful to you doing those things and helping out Lorelei 😭❤
(Love seeing Lennon being so chill haha, the cutie pie 🥰❤)

You and Vicki are so sweet and all bunnies that meet you are so lucky! I love the fact that that you would let any bunny who had to stay somewhere stay at your place. Awe he/ she loves their pillow ! Stretched the little foot on it 🥺 so adorable!!!!

Omg I am so sorry for the bunny’s thank God there are people out there who help injured animals.
thank you for taking care of these bunnies you’re such a kind soul 💗💗
Dear Lorelei,
I just want to tell u that I learned sooo much of ur Chanel.
Mermaid is a cute name since the splayed legs make them look a bit like a seal. XD So glad these little ones are getting the care they deserve now.
I'm so happy you'd do this and have this channel. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have my rabbit or any thing I know about him, so thank you
I have a disable bunny.

Poor babies 🥺💗 I'm so happy they got to be cared for 🥺💗
My heart goes out to those sweet bunnies. They deserve an amazing life and you are helping them Lorelei
I love these videos, it makes me so happy that you are saving rabbits lives ❤
good on you for taking them regardless of their disability!
my boy blue is blind and i wouldn't have it any other way. his meds are expensive but its worth it for how much they improve his quality of life.
Awww. These bunny’s are so sweet
It's amazing the work you do with rabbit rescues! All bunnies deserve love no matter if they're special needs or not.
Ahhh the bunnies are so cute and Lennon is so sweet 😢
13:24 this part of your speech was such a relief.
I was asking myself are they sad or feeling bad about themselves. It’s so good that they don’t feel that way.
Thanks for the thoughtful care! A couple of nitpicky points:
1) Bunnies don't usually like being picked up and held high in the air as you're doing with them. It reminds them instinctively of predator behaviour so it causes considerable stress;
2) Bunnies have extremely sensitive digestive systems so it's not recommended that you touch their food unless you've washed your hands thoroughly.
Thank you for looking and caring for these little angels. I have bunnies and they are my babies. Bless you both for taking them in and helping them.
You guys are amazing I love what you do for bunnies 😊😊
ty so much for helping them, so much love and support
Oh my God the baby bunnies are so cute, I pray that they can find a nice home. 🙏❤️
OMG!!! The cuteness is just beyond 🥺💕 you're amazing Lorelei 🙏thank you for making this video. I did learn a lot 🐰
My heart just exploded with love for these two beautiful babies!! I'm so grateful that they will be showed love abundantly.
Stay Doin what you doing, don't ever change. The world needs more people like you.
Blessed be...
Great job thankyou for taking care of these bunnies 🐰 🧡💚💙💙🤍💜💜
Such sweet little angels . Hope they find a forever home soon.
My heart! God bless these little babies.
