    My stomach also went south, at the 50. It's definitely tough in the moment to watch your time slip away, but those are the breaks!
    Having done the marathon and the 50 this year, I know how much you edited those videos down. Looking forward to a longer movie!

      Thanks! The 100 video will definitely be longer. Working on it any free time I have.

    I always take a picture of my race gear post and pre race. I note the conditions of the race and what worked and failed in my trapper keeper.. lol. Also I have found via test races that PBJ along with water and fortified water during the day and then moving to soup broth and noodles in the later part of the race with ginger ale offer helps me. If you can get a shoe you like with the BOA lace system it’s a game changer for sock changes or foot pit stops!!! Lol looking forward to the race video. See you at NB 100!!

    Thanks for the great information! I have the Fenix Hm65R-T which is also heavy enough to bounce a little. I sewed a small piece of velcro(rough) to the front of my cap, which sticks nicely to the strap of the light. It works really well as another option to the Buff.

    Thanks for the breakdown Steven, I've looked at the Fenix head torches but they seemed a bit chunky & heavy. Good to hear all the kit worked out well on the day & Well done with an amazing run at Leadville by the way 👌

      Thank you! The headlamp is a bit heavier, but it sits well and feels fine even for 10 hours.

    Thanks for the video. It's funny, you loop through the recovery shoes twice.

    Great video man. What made you go with the Mafate 4 vs the Tecton X2? I have both as well but not near the distance runner.

    • @UltraTrailSteven
      @UltraTrailSteven  Год назад +4

      Thank you! The tongue was the biggest deciding factor. The tongue of the TX2 is thin and caused some slight issues on 20+ mile runs. I didn’t want that concern in a 100. The MS4 is just such a great shoe!

  • @Lag10
    @Lag10 Год назад +1

    I’ve worn the xo toe socks with 6+ other shoes and never had a blister until i wore them with the mafate speed 4s. Switched to injinji toe socks for the speeds and havent had another issue. It seems like something with the xo material or thinness doesn’t work well the jacquard mesh and made abrasive.

    • @UltraTrailSteven
      @UltraTrailSteven  Год назад +1

      Interesting. I have developed a blister both 100’s I’ve worn the Mafate Speed 4’s and toe socks. Hm.

    Really interesting. The recovery shoes were so good they needed mentioning twice eh? Bet Hoka will be pleased :D
    Have you found the dual system gps has improved on the coros? I remember an earlier video, maybe when you were just moving to CO, where you found it a bit poor, and remember a couple other reviews that suggested the single system GPS is more reliable. Not heard mention of it being fixed.

    • @UltraTrailSteven
      @UltraTrailSteven  Год назад +1

      Yeah editing mistake there 🤦‍♂️ 😆
      The All-Systems On gps works really well. The issue I had before was because I was in a maze of a park with so many trails it was hard to know which to take.

    Absolutely incredible performance at Leadville Steven! You smashed it mate! Great to hear what kit you used. Good to know what things worked well for these long races. Did you meet Ry Webb? He came 4th. He's a local runner to us here in Guildford and he's a really nice guy.

      Random Q: does filtered creek water taste better? Or does it depend

    • @CelineFerocious
      @CelineFerocious Год назад +1

      Wool socks are clutch, I think the wool toe socks are a great idea. SO HAPPY TO HEAR YOU DIDNT HAVE ANKLE ISSUES

      Yeah it depends on the creek. Most of the time it is nice and cold, and very refreshing! Think I will order a pair of the wool toe socks. Thanks!

    Great video and this has been a great series of videos. Well done on the race. Just wondering is the hat on your store to purchase? I was looking for it but couldn't find it. Might be my old eyes 🙄

    Which ankle brace did you use and did it rub you at all during the 100?

    • @UltraTrailSteven
      @UltraTrailSteven  11 месяцев назад

      This is the brace I used. I have used it in two 100 mile races now. I do pre-tape my heel with luekotape in areas I know it rubs. amzn.to/48bYTEq
