- I bought a bike recently that had a 10 speed rear wheel, with old friction shifters and a more modern rear derailleur. Would the gear shifting work, is it possible to run a 10 speed cassette with friction shifters?

I use friction shifters on a 10 speed compact system. There are zero issues. I’m using a Shimano 9 speed XT long cage rear mech, Ultegra 6700 chain, Tiagra 10 speed 11-32 tooth cogset, Truvativ compact crankset, and 600 friction downtube shifters. You just have to make sure that the components are compatible.
That looks like a chain that’s too wide. That happened to me. Try a 10 or 11 speed specific chain.
Hello there . 10 speed cassette , 10 speed front chain rings ,10 speed derailleur( jockey wheels ) and 10 speed chain works with friction shifters . Mine works really well. Campagnolo groupset with a shimano downtube friction lever .My sti lever broke so i replaced it with the downtube friction lever as the brake lever still works fine . I'm very happy with it .
did an 8speed into a 6speed friction Shimano setup and it worked pretty well.
Before reading the other comments, I thought the chain was the issue.
A question: the chain that you use is a 10speed chain???
I use 10 speed cassete with friccion shifterson a old Peugeot
and Works fine!
But I'm use a 10speed chain
But I'm
It's maybe just how things look on the video, but the chain looks a bit chunky for 10 speed?
You need a 10speed RD and chain for best results.
I am working on a bike that came with 6 speed bar end shifters.. the shifter only seems to pull enough to get the derailleur to the 8th cog on a 9 speed. cassette... it is a 105 10 speed derailleur.. by hand I can move the cage to the largest cog no problem.
would you know where i could get decal sticker for my british eagle touristique cycle
