      Do your own research and come to your own conclusions, but keep in mind that politicians on both sides of the aisle (in US at least) are corporate sellouts, in the pocket of the industries that pay them to say what they do. This includes president Obama, Hillary, president Trump, the billionaires running for the democratic ticket, Gingrich, McConnell, Pelosi, Schumer, and much of the rest of the flaming garbage pile we call congress. Bernie Sanders does not take political money, ran as a socialist in the 80's (not a politically savvy move) and won, he is 10x more bipartisan than what MSM will tout about their favourite candidates, and has been fighting for the basic amenities every developed country (except the US) has such as universal health care and paid maternity leave, and you cannot fake his 40 years of authenticity.

      @tomstein7131 4 года назад +6

      zebextredon i agree that in its present mutation government is largely a tool for oligarchy, but that’s because it’s infected by oligarchy. the solution is not to take power from government, rather to do as he suggests, to take power from oligarchs and reinstate true democracy that is filtered through and upheld by a government populated by normal people.

    • @stethoscanomaly
      @stethoscanomaly 4 года назад +4

      @@tomstein7131 Wrong. A government will always be populated by psycopaths because the concept of government - a special club of people who have special rights to coerce all the other people - is fundamentally psychopathic. Look at every revolution ever. Look at the French revolution where they did EXACTLY as you propose - they kicked out the Oligarchs and took the government for themselves. How did that turn out? Old psychopaths immediately replaced by new psychopaths, only this time, psychopaths from the set you're calling "normal people". Just as destructive as the oligarchs before them and of course, once in government, they quickly worked on making themselves and their friends the new oligarch class. This is what government is. The idea is fundamentally violent, psychopathic, and anti-human, and that has been demonstrated thoroughly by literately every single government in the history of the world. Think for a moment - has there ever been a good government?

    • @stethoscanomaly
      @stethoscanomaly 4 года назад +3

      @@tomstein7131 Under the current paradigm there's no alternative. There are too many psychopaths in the world and regular people on the whole are too psychopathic for any better system to work. We have the system that fits people'e level of consciousness. That system of course does everything possible to keep people from advancing their consciousness so it's impossible for us to organically evolve out of it into a state where we could handle a better form of relating to one another (e.g. a kind of peaceful agorism/anarchism). It's an impassible problem as far as practical, material solutions go. My advice - meditate, find value in areas of life that do not involve politics. Ignore politics.

It's a ruling that the prosecutor could use to force a sentence ranging from 10 years to life on a drug offender sentencenced under 21 U.S.C. 841A or B (e.g. possession of 1 gram of LSD, 5 grams of meth or 50 cannabis plants) if he had two or more prior felony drug charges, including simple possession. There are thousands of inmates who are sitting a life sentence (and thousands more who received dozens of years) for nothing but nonviolent drug charges because of this ruling. Could you please do even the most cursory research before writing shit on the Internet?

My emphasis was why these massive frauds (madoff, worldcom, shkreli, and now wework to name a very few) keep being fostered on the American public and workforce. The answer is our irreparably broken business modeling and the entrenchment/legalization of these practices for those who are "succeeding".

      I shudder at the growth of the gig economy. I live in British Columbia, Canada, where our provincial government has just approved Uber and Lyft. So now my province is replacing marginal taxi work with even more marginal gig work. From barely living wage to accepting all the expenses and risks for an uneven income. And it's all being couched in terms of more mobility options for the consumer. Next I expect they'll announce cutbacks to transit.

    Capitalism has outlived its usefulness. Change is inevitable.

    • @carlosparra8976
      @carlosparra8976 5 лет назад +1

      What we have right now is not capitalism. There has been a lot of subversion of the system with cronyism and excessive debt and monopolies. Any other system where human ingenuity and initiative and drive is suffocated by a humongous bureaucratic apparatus will never survive. Capitalism needs to be reformed and get down to the basics, not abolished. Human dignity and capitalism can coexist, like they do in some countries around the world.

      The more voices speaking about these issues the better for all of us. Having watched both do talks and interviews, its nice when you get a different take, thought process and voice. The last thing you want is this to become a hit song that people repeat and don't care about the message.

      @@KootFloris I agree the world thrives when we all have the same value. My point is there are different ways to tackle this topic, have the same message and engage more people. The language and perspective has to be broad. I'm not basing this on political lines.
      Anand is a journalist and has said his perspective is focused mainly on American and as journalist. Rutger is a historian so its nice to have his historian perspective. Noam Chomsky is a linguist, philosopher, scientist etc. His perspective is also different when he talks about this. Bernie Sanders who is a politician. He talks about this issue from a socialist perspective. Robert Reich is an Economist and his economic perspective is also crucial. There are more but these are the few I could think of. Same message different angle.

      @@EricG-bv2ui Haha, Yes we need to see these voices as additional and overlapping. And rather then discuss who is right, build forward.
