You can order a wood & glass case on the internet that will preserve your flag. My brother has my Daddy's flag after he served in 2 wars. Congratulations and thanks for all the wonderful information.
I understand the emotion completely. I was there in Springfield in1974 riding my motorcycle cross country from San Diego around the country and back. Took 4 months and put a total of 14,000 miles. I criss-crossed a lot. If you want to feel the 'oh wow' effect you should go to Mt Vernon in Washington DC. Most of his house has been preserved or reproduced but there's on thing that left me speechless. Up in Martha's bedroom there's a stairway down. If I remember correctly it leads into the kitchen area. The hand rail is the original handrail. George Washington walked down these stairs and held on to THAT handrail. I was tingling all the way down the stairs.
Oh how wonderful of a gift that is. If it was me I would put it in a flag case documenting what and where the flag is from and have the certificate archively framed. That way it would be safe to be handed down through the generations. Also I would write the whole story out and have that and the certificate framed in a double frame. What a precious gift that was. Just my humble opinion. ;)
.. what an amazing day... history is the hubby's JAM ....(our walls are lined with ALL sorts of artifacts.. civil war...and before up until 40's-50's era..in antique cash drawers...print drawers... original ball jars- the kind with the zinc & glass liners and lids with ceramic & glass doorknobs...& etc..)he has mental detected..and bottle dug for the past 35+years...I would love to be able to bring him there... 🇺🇸....it obviously was meant to be...such a sweet touching story.. congrats hollar fam
I know that the VA Hospital in Durham, NC has the Flag Cases and they are probably available at other VA Hospitals and Clinics. As a Combat Veteran I am thankful that your family was selected to receive this sacred gift. God Bless you all and hope you find the homestead of your dreams!
I was bawling by the end of this! So true though. It’s not always easy to remember to be grateful for what we have, whether it’s things or time, but it’s so important. Great message 💕 Also- how cool that you guys got the flag!
That is amazing!!!!! When you cross paths with people it is meant to be So many people can’t see that. I’m glad you went to that ceremony. I had no idea they did that. I want to see that At my dads funeral they did the gun salute and I still can hear it after all these years. I found you on White House on the Hill channel Now I’m going to follow you. You are doing everything right. God will guide you to the perfect homestead
We just subscribed. We watch God, Family and guns all the time! So we subscribed to your journey! We live in Sacramento, Ca! So you were not to far away from where you moved from! We are native Ca. And feel you about what’s happening here! We are older couple with children in your age group! So I feel for you having to leave family, but you have to do what is best for your children! I Home schooled my children! I know two of them appreciated it, the others not so much! I hope and pray that you find your new home and it will be a complete blessing for your family! Blessings and Smiles, Jan S 👍🙏
I don't say much but always like you videos, but this touched me because as i homeschooled my children X3, we did civil war reenactment. what a beautiful honor, God bless Pastor Kellie
What a honor and now a family heirloom to pass down to other Hollar generations. Congratulations and God Bless. :-) PS: I teared up over this video, very touching.
Our class (4th or 5th grade) went there for a field trip. Probably around 1980. Then a few years back I took my youngest daughter for a homeschool day. I was more in awe as an adult than I was as a child. The kitchen in Lincoln's home had me mesmerized. I think it was the wood burning stove. Must be the homesteader in me. I could live there. I'm glad you were able to take a piece of Illinois with you. I can't wait to see how you display it at your new homestead! Blessings- Dawn
What a wonderful story. I am not even from the USA, I am from Canada and I was in tears when you were telling your story. Folk will just feel your emotion. I am so very happy for you. God Bless Joe
What a very cool moment‼️ I am blown away knowing you received that flag. Shows you never know what's coming your way in this life‼️ I'll mention this only because of the man you talked to with stage four cancer and I know that it's not the same as a human. But the other day our Mastiff Coco, who a week ago had her sixth birthday started limping on her right front leg. We thought she got hurt playing with it other dog. After ten days and no better, we took her to the vet and had an x-ray taken. Come to find out she has cancer in that leg and only had two weeks to two months to live! Like I said I know she isn't human but she is like a kid to us and it just goes to show you never know what this life will bring you. So live every day to the fullest and enjoy the happiness life brings‼️❤️❤️❤️
i can quite understand this gentleman (stranger) talking to you from his heart i think thats why i like your videos seems to me both you have that open door policy but with talking you both seem willing to listen and learn from others so that they can open up to you hugssssss
I love that kind of stuff. We went to Gettysburg when I was a kid and it was so cool. Mock battles and all. That is neat to be able to have that part history. Both of Lincoln's and now of yours.
That’s really cool, historical information...wow!! Thanks for sharing this with us RUclipsrs.👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️omg!!!! I just heard them say you got the flag !!!!! WOW!!!! Awesome gift!
Congratulations guys what a beautiful thing to happen I'm not from the U.S I'm from the U.K but I think a lot of the old values are being lost so to me that is just heart warming keep up the good work and God bless
A very humbling day ....makes you proud to be who you are and where you are now...another memorable moment for the books..wish could have gotten pictures to share..i think my first post to you guys was this is a priceless moment for you guys..
THAT was AWESOME!! I'm sitting here in tears. Such a wonderful story that your children can share for years!! :) also, I've recently started watching your channel, and had no idea you were from Bakersfield!! Our grandparents migrated from OK, TX, and ARK and also settled in the central valley. Small world. Take care.
The Hollar Homestead my dad was raised in the land of Lincoln so I have been to Lincoln's home and tomb several times. The tomb has such a hallowed and reverent feel to it that's hard to describe until you've been there. The flag is such a blessing.
That was awesome!! It was meant to be that you received this flag it wasn't by chance or happens so. The gentleman that you spoke of that has cancer our heartfelt prayers for him. God is still in control he always has been and always will be. Your lives have been chartered by God just follow him. Peace peace wonderful peace, coming down from the father above; sweep over my spirit forever I pray, in fathomless billows of love.
I watched this morning and wanted to say something but no words I can’t imagine getting the flag on the first visit and it was kind of an after thought pretty amazing
