This dance was used for a dance competition, where ethnic minorities dance is a popular genre for most dancers across China. It is not really the most Authentic representation of Ethnic Minorities' culture, but it surely is beautiful. 😊
I love watching this dance and for first tim decided to look in comments... what is the issue with han chinese and the minority chinese groups??? Oh my goodness the comments inhere are very nasty.... I am not Chinese in anyway my self so I can't understand but I am part of the minority group in America and sometimes when it comes to white people in certain situations I feel there is more priviliges to the white people but also I can't hate them... I guess I am just wondering why so much hate?? In this world today, hate against other groups of people is starting to die down with students studying about other cultures and trying to unerstand each other, but I can't understand why there are still people trying to hold on to so much hate.
also even if they aren't hmong, miao, or whatever, if you are from the culture they are trying represent, then you should be proud! they are helping keep the culture alive and making people more aware of other culture group, that is the point of folk dance and it shouldn't matter where you are from as long as you are about helping keeping a culture alive. Even if this is not pure hmong dance or whatever it is called, it is still art and if anything it was inspired by that culture, so if I was hmong person I think I would feel at least some pride that there are people that help to keep my culture alive through art/dance.
Hmong are the people that left China because of the war with the Qing Dynasty. This was when the term "Hmong" was born. It was to describe the people who fought for their freedom from oppression. The Miao who remained in China cannot call themselves Hmong.
+Phia Yang Miao people is very ancient nation. and migrate to different place. they will change by the surroundings. maybe you are different with them. but you can't ignore them. according to a report. there are 10 million people live in China. in fact, 10 million miao people have all kinds of different custom, different cloth, different dialect.
+Phia Yang in that periods, it is hard for all chinese. a lot of people escape from china. it is sadness of periods. i don't want to see my nation to suffer such painful times again. i hope my country will be more and more powerful, and can protect us. i come from China, and I am Han people.
@@4LeeXa I agree. Miao is not Hmong at all, and they don't want to be called Hmong. Go search and look for Hmong China, and you will see Hmong Chinese speak almost the same language as yours. Stop claiming Miao is Hmong.
In my opinion, I don't think these people are Hmong. They are probably a sub-ethic group of the Maio people, but probably not Hmong. I understand that we as Hmong try so hard to understand our culture and history, but we cannot just put our name on someone else's video or ethnicity. I use to hate it when people would just categorize me as either Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Laos or any other Asian nationality that it would piss me off. So, for this person to copy and change the title of this video and call these people as Hmong is wrong and distasteful. I am proud to be Hmong, I don't need to have my validation from a video or taking another tribe's identity and call it mine. One day I would love to be able to read a book that documents actual facts/history about when, where, and how my people (HMONG) were born. I do applaud these ladies for their dance moves.
+Eva Lee They are Miao people. in the beginning of Miao. all they lived in the middle of china. and migrate to the whole china. people is always affected the surroundings. so they will be different. it isn't strange. by the way, Miao people have their own language and characters. but characters are missing in so long historical time. what i said is true. because some chinese archaeologist find some tombstone in Hunan provice which record details. and now, A lot of miao people live in Hunan provice.
+Eva Lee I don't think you're Hmong. I'm sure if you have don't thorough research, you would clearly understand what Hmong and Miao mean. Ignorant bliss. I assume you think Hmong people speak green and white? What the fuck is green and white?
+niam txiv You don't think I am Hmong because I didn't write my username in Hmong. I know what Hmong/ Miao means and I have done plenty of research to try and understand my group of people whose culture was lost and destroy throughout time. I know we all speak different dialect but to categorize another group/ tribe as Hmong is an insult. Would you call an Apache Indian a Cherokee. I highly doubt it. Maybe before you judge someone or attack someone on who they are, you should take your head out of your ass and do some research. Send me a clip saying that these are truly Miao/ Hmong people and maybe then I will believe you.
+杀无赦 I know that, I wouldn't know if this group is or isn't. I don't speak the language nor do I understand what the song is saying. I can't sit here and say that I believe you because you say so, the dance is beautiful and the group is beautiful.
Because they are not Hmong. Stop claiming them as Hmong. Miao is another tribe in China. Go search and look for Hmong Chinese, you will see they speak almost the same language.
Reminisce, ReminisceWithMe The dancers are Miao, the clothes are Miao, but the dance itself is not Miao dance at all. Miao dancers do not stop and pause when they dance. Miao dances are very face pace and they don't do theatrical dances like this.
Reminisce, ReminisceWithMe True that!!!!! Just because they wear similar clothes don't make them Hmong. They are maybe 5-10% Hmong but for SURE they are not even 20% Hmong as we know as in Laos. DNA is getting better and we won't know for sure for many years to come but these people are more Chinese or other ethnic group(s) which is also great but I'm just saying they are not as close to the "Hmong" as we understand. Western Hmong in China some of which I can understand 95% of their language is as close to Hmong in Laos as we can get.
Mike Smith the Hmong share close to 97% of their DNA with the Chinese so based off DNA alone the hmongs are Chinese but they in practice are not Chinese. All are individual hill tribes yet the similarities between the culture may suggest break off of a single entity, which is probably the ancient Chinese or a group of, to us we always known them as hmong-chinese since they speak a dialect understandable and similar to hmongs, lumping them into the "collective" if you will...but yes, they are not true hmong or maybe to them hmongs are not true hmongs
Mike Smith Actually, they are Hmong. DNA? I don't think you know much about DNA. Hmong DNA is the same as Han Chinese DNA. The Western Miao language is consisted of Mandarin, Southern Chinese, some language of Tai-Bouyei. When you don't have any expertise or education in geography, linguistic and cultural anthropology, you will not know anything about culture and people.
niam txiv I don't know how educated are you but you don't have to act like you are an DNA expert. I'm not a DNA expert but I can say neither you or any "expert" on DNA really know who is who because not enough data have been collected. Please don't promote something you don't know about. Go get your DNA's data from companies specializing in DNA sequencing and you will find you contain many bloodlines of people throughout Asia.Who knows, you might be African too-so are you African if you have only 1% African DNA. The question is "have you pay to get your DNA information." Whether you contain 1% or 90% Han DNA you can call yourself Han but then you can also be called many other types of people. Stop with your assumption and go get your DNA information-cost as low as 200 American dollars to several thousand depending on who you pick. Until then don't be lecturing people about what they don't know-lecture yourself first.
Don't be so stupid. These girls are Hmong living in the home country of china . They are hmong ethnic minority with chinese nationality. Hmong people are like tbe Jews. They live everywhere but they keep their culture and always know that they are hmong. These hmong girls dance for a chinese audience.

These are Hmong people. We have enough verification evidence of our origin in the San Miao Confederate States. Biology doesn't lie. The anthropology doesn't lie as well.
There are more dialects in China than I have fingers, so does that mean they are not Chinese? Vietnam has several dialects, but mainly a north, central, and southern accent, so does that mean they are not Vietnamese? Hmong outside China have 2 different dialects, so does that mean one is not Hmong?
