Batter Up is a homage to YG artists, especially to their previous girl groups which is BLACKPINK and 2NE1. It's the way YG want to introduce them that they have a new group with YG DNA in it. Then, they gave them to shine on their own. For me, it's heartwarming since all babymonster members got into YG because of the artists before them. You can watch it in their Introduction Video and their survival show Last Evaluation how they are really inspired by YG artists. They also have been giving lessons from YG artists themselves. This groups are full of minors yet they still do good in schools while chasing their own dream.
That's Yg's formula tbh. He's not trying to replicate anyone. Alot the girls in the group have biases from bp. They ofc are using Blackpink as inspiration, just like Blackpink did with 2ne1. i agree with you act. and you also give your views respectfully. my opinion as a ygstan for over 10 years, I honestly disappointed with YG because they're able to make better songs than 'batter up'. this song is YG ish but YG should create diff sounds of hiphop/yg style. when bp debuted, people said that blackpink copy 2ne1 because both groups are 4 members and they have the same genre which is hiphop. but I don't mind that cuz YG is hiphop agency and both 2ne1 & bp music sounds diff. In my opinion the only blackpink song that is most similar to 2ne1 is 'as if it's your last' and it has been proven after that the original song is 2ne1's. I never said I hate babymonster because they are so talented and I'm baemon's fan ofc. plus I really like SITM because this song is really good and it's very diff from other YG songs.
A mini album is coming beginning of April with Ahyeon included and back from a health hiatus. I agree with you to a degree and think YG attempted to use the YG formula from the previous 2 girl groups and it backfired for a lot of fans. It wasn't a bad song I just think people were expecting something new and fresh (myself included) because everyone liked it a day or two later. I hope they find their individuality even though in my opinion they already have to a certain extent. They already showed us superior vocals with multiple members compared to Blackpink. It's really up to YG. YG said they hired 30-40 new producers a month ago or so hopefully new music and different sounds will likely be coming in the future and plan to give Babymonster a full album around fall. I know my girl Rora has a deeper soulful tone that is best suited for R&B. Highly recommend their pre-debut song Dream with all 7 members and Ahyeon's Dangerously cover that went VIRAL or Rami's cover of Pick Up Your Feelings- Jasmin Sullivan.
Great Reaction as always, you touched a topic, and I think you may be over reacting and here is why. YG has 2 Girl Groups before 2NE1. SWi.T which was hip hop and Big Mama which sang power vocal style pop. When 2NE1 started, they did that girl crush, with a hip hop flavor. and everyone loved that style. but this group along with the boy groups, had issues and YG at that time, did not know how to deal with these issues, and in a sense, was the reason many Kpop groups break up. Mis-Management, and keeping secrets (Idol Secrets) from press (netizens). YG only had one solution, put the group on Hiatus. So now BlackPink arrives, and they got the same reaction you are giving BabyMonster. BlackPink sounds like 2NE1. and in a way, BP was exactily like 2NE1. Same producers, same song selections. As If its Your Last was sung by 2NE1, but never released, and given to BlackPink which made it a hit. It happens. BlackPInk has a song TouchDown which never got released and Jeon Somi picked it up when she joined YG, changed the lyrics and got a hit. Fast Forward. But back to BP. did they change there style from Whistle to Ddu Du Ddu Du, it sounds similar but in a good way. So now BabyMonster comes along. and they are doing the YG thing with Batter Up. just the title gives reference to someone stepping up. it is a baseball term. next up to bat, batter up. BabyMonster is the next to the plate at YG. it was on purpose, it suppose to make you feel, ah, yes, this is YG. But the funny part is YG is not using Teddy to produce BabyMonster. Yg himself is all over this track along with Choi Hyun-suk of Treasure and Lee Chan-hyuk of AKMU. while Asa of BM (she is the rapper) is credit with writing lyrics on this song. So these are all YG artist collabing to make this song. It is going to sound like a YG song. The second song now takes you into who BabyMonster is trying to become. YG put this group together, focusing on Vocals. 5 strong vocalist, and 2 strong rappers which can also sing, they actually have alot of backing vocals when they are not rapping. My last thought. you have not seen anything yet. YG said they will drop a mini album in April. but up until now, you only heard BabyMonster with 6 girls. These 2 songs, I would tell you to save these songs for future reference, because once BabyMonster OT7 debute, the sound will surely change. These first two songs, were released, but not promoted in any way. YG said he was going to debute BM but the main girl got sick, and YG had to punt. But he did not do what he normally does, push back the release date. He did not do this. He released what he had, and it was just 6 girls. so he did not promote it. it is like a pre-debute of sorts. He is waiting for Ahyeon. she is the ace, all rounder girl and lead vocal, leader of the group. not trying to hype BM up anymore than they have already, but if you watched the evaluations and selection process, she was the first girl picked to be a BabyMonster. So great reaction to the pre-debute of BabyMonster. Live Vocals, they got it.
BABYMONSTER stuff (PLAYLIST) (ALL) (From the announcement of the group to the debut. YES...... The playlist has it all) : ruclips.net/p/PLG9J3dru6j3sWnpA1KjjdGyn3nKfaltb5&feature=shared
The batter up song is actually a shout out for ALL the groups that YG had in the past. It has a taste of 2en1, BigBang, Blackpink and Treasure it was obvious too that their concept is showing that Babymonster is the future and next to represent YG BATTER UP is baseball reference which literally means NEXT PLAYER TO HIT THE BALL OR PLAY THE GAME. YG is not trying to make a next Blackpink it's just their way of introducing their new GG Blackpink used to be called next 2en1 way back 2016 cause their songs has references from 2en1 music until they found their own sound. That's what YG is doing now put some references then eventually found their own sound in the next months or years. Anyways they have Evaluation Series and some clean version cuts live performances dance and sing you should definitely try to watch and react to that one if you have extra time. Worth the your time
I know what BabyMonsters are capable of and they can do multiple genre of music. Batter up is just an introduction song that's giving a "hey we are from yg". And the switch to a heavy vocal ballad songs Stuck in the middle. Can't wait for them to show their immense amount of skills once they start their promotions
YG himself said that this song is an homage to those groups. Other groups are heavily repeated of many other kpop groups and get lost on the crowd. This is 1 of 3 songs they have and the only one like this.
Batter Up is just a message that they are the next batter from the company. They won't be the next of somebody, and by the way they were losing one member which the supposed to be a leader of the group, but thank God that she will be rejoined on April 1st. The two songs you have just listened will be re-recorded with her in it. You have said that you wanna know the group from the beginning then this is your chance to know them. Pls dont spread misleading information. YG never release specific information about member's position. It's good to see you trying to spread information to anyone who know nothing about BabyMonster. But pls just choose the official ones.
@@4kkoc186 who says this from YG? I put that label on them, All the vocalists can be the main vocalist, all the rappers can be the main rapper. And Babymonster is not just a kpop group they are also a dance crew

You should react to Dream and some of their pre-debut stuff to see just how talented they are like its scary. You should also watch the SITM special stage performance! In Batter Up they do reference BP, with the “square up going going gone,” the brrp at the end of Asa’s rap, and even Asa in pink and black saying shes a boss baby kinda hinting at BP being “bosses” but the formula has also been used for the bg Treasure and in other YG songs so its not just specific to Blackpink just YG and also the desire to have that hip-hop element.
You should check 2ne1 before Blackpink, people say that they are a replica of previous YG GG, but new fans didn't know is that's just how YGs formula is, they always lean to the hiphop vibe or the concert-ish vibes, even in their boy groups from generation to generation, for their female idolsl YG popularize the girl crush style(2NE1) when most of their counterpart are the cutesy vibe. T Thanks for checking out this talented girls.
So sad that people are already judging them just bec they heard their introduction song. Tbh i like that they are sticking to their roots coz people has different kind of preferences and doesn't want a cutiepatootie side of kpop. That's better than jumping into bandwagon just like what other companies did after they saw girl crush concept of Blackpink has a wider market not only in Korea but internationally. After they saw that their current girl groups and newly debut ones title tracks has more trappy music, festive, girl crush and full of back drops that are perfect for festivals but never stood out. And now they are doing y2k concept just bec that's the trending one 😭
I can't wait for some R&B tracks. We heard what we heard during their training. Rami sang "pick up your feelings" and I fell apart. I am praying for some R&B
@Finesseyamina there are a few videos of the members prior to debut when they were doing individual evaluations. If you search babymonster live evaluations or even search Rami babymonster pick up your feelings you will find it. You will want to see everything before debut. There is alot but it's all very good.
They’ve learned from the best, Lisa & Jennie BP were their mentors in their last evaluation. Some of them getting close in person (Lisa BP & Pharita BM) ‘cause they are Thai siblings in the same company. Rappers can sing, Singers can rap, They have best chemistry stage performance as 7 members. BM has more versatile type of music they can do. This is how different BM & BP is? They can do well hiphop style ‘cause they are YG Baby, and pay high respect to their legendary siblings. Anties and Haters try to collapse them with the controversial on their debut era. So, thank you for judging them by yourself…😊
I dont think they copy blackpink specifically because all they groups in YG imo have the same formula..with the dance break at the end.. 2NE1..Big Bang...Treasure...Blackpink.. all have songs with YG formula...when i heard the song structure i knew that is from YG artist..
Thanks for your reaction...It's a YG sound not BlackPink sound. 2NE1 was also girl crush too. YG said himself "He want to make 2NE1 just prettier". I do understand what you mean. BabyMonster is the most talented artist.
2 MV more,, one pre-debut song, "Dream" and cover song "Christmas without you". Btw there is a lot of contents about backgound. Start with individual Live performance @ YG channel. Btw Ruka isn't resemble Lisa. Actually she resemble og CL and GD from YG. Tbh, the live stage is even beter.
If you are an old kpop fans there's what you called big 3 companies that dominates kpop.. SM, JYP and YG..and out of all the kpop cutiepatootie concept, YG sets them apart from the rest and they are well known for having hiphop genre. Blackpink has been accusing the same thing when they debut that they sounds like 2ne1 but the real thing is that's YG's branding. People can accuse other company copying yg artists just like when BP became well know for having a " hip-hop, girl grush concept and hard banging songs" but they can't accuse yg artist using their own branding. And comparing their hip-hop songs but disregarding their ballads and B-sides songs is just too unfair. It's funny when people heard a Hard hip-hop songs from yg artists it's recycle but when other company and groups are copying that same genre of music and even concept they are turning blind eyes. They just love to hate 🤣
I don't disagree with you same here. Yes batter up is a great DEBUT but it's a generic YG sounds and I get it cuz it's a debut I already expect that from YG. But I'm glad they came out with SITM after cuz that really make them break the ropes from BP and hopefully also the next songs to come cuz this girls are very talented.
Can someone explain to me where the similarity with Blackpink is? Can anyone tell me a Blackpink song that is similar to Batter Up beyond Lisa's sampler? It's stupid, they don't look anything alike...
They are much more like 2ne1 than Blackpink in numerous ways. Only haters or people who have no clue about any YG groups but Blackpink think they are a copy of Blackpink. It's just the YG formula that they put towards girl groups, especially early on, that is just so familiar. That is intentional as well.
The entire song formula the chanty party anthem ending, the light airy vocal pre-chorus, and the duo rap. it is not necessarily Blackpink per-say but just YG/Blackpink formula. The Brrrraah part is also from Lisa Boombayah. The minimalistic white background with the black cage reminds me of Shut down. It's just easy to plug in which member would sing which part.
@@TheCutestChris18 Tell me a Blackpink song that resembles Batter Up, not if the white background reminds you of Shut Down...wtf....🤦♀ Obviously there are things reminiscent of Blackpink...this MV is a tribute to them and 2ne1, but not the song.... BabyMonster is nothing like Blackpink, nothing at all.....
@@Alexia-BM7 the song is just heavily influenced on the yg formula and the chorus is an interpolation or reused from money with a minimal empty chorus with a small catchy phrase. We’re not hating it’s just a critique and an opinion. Some people hoped they would come out with something fresh from the start to show more individuality. It’s human nature to associate things with things that are already familiar to them. Thats why ppl are making comparisons. Babymonsters vocals don’t sounds like blackpink at all in my opinion except rukas tone or style reminds me of CL a lot not saying it’s a bad thing either because I like it. Majority of the fans felt the same way about the song in general. The chorus is a big deal in a song and 8/10 reactions said it sounded like a blackpink/2ne1 song. Most ppl got in into kpop during the pandemic and after coachella. The general public and fans may not know know 2NE1 music because not everyone has explored other groups and know about 2NE1 because they disbanded/ or on perm hiatus whatever ppl want to call it 8 years ago.

Thanks for checking out BABYMONSTER 😊❤❤❤
i agree with you act. and you also give your views respectfully. my opinion as a ygstan for over 10 years, I honestly disappointed with YG because they're able to make better songs than 'batter up'. this song is YG ish but YG should create diff sounds of hiphop/yg style. when bp debuted, people said that blackpink copy 2ne1 because both groups are 4 members and they have the same genre which is hiphop. but I don't mind that cuz YG is hiphop agency and both 2ne1 & bp music sounds diff.
Great Reaction as always,
you touched a topic, and I think you may be over reacting and here is why.
I like the way you put this
This is what I've been sayin 🥹

@@jcp164 No one said it was from YG. and you also didn't mention that you were the one who labeled that position either.
I'm just saying, it's better to provide official information to people who don't know anything about them.
Since Babymonster also a new group.
Unless spreading information that is not legit is your hobby, I won't forbid it. It is up to you.
@@4kkoc186 Use your brain a bit when you are gonna comment on something that label as misinformation. Do you think YG would give that corny name as i did for the members position?? Even if i did base on fact that they are all-rounders group. I can do what ever i want because of that circumstances.
@@jcp164 Yap, i'm not talking about those corny names.
3:37 *FROM LEFT TO RIGHT* :
PHARITA, RAMI, ASA, RUKA, CHIQUITA (Maknae) and RORA.
YG DNA is must for all idol group from YG.
You should react to Dream and some of their pre-debut stuff to see just how talented they are like its scary. You should also watch the SITM special stage performance! In Batter Up they do reference BP, with the “square up going going gone,” the brrp at the end of Asa’s rap, and even Asa in pink and black saying shes a boss baby kinda hinting at BP being “bosses” but the formula has also been used for the bg Treasure and in other YG songs so its not just specific to Blackpink just YG and also the desire to have that hip-hop element.
pls react to more babymonster!especially their live performances before debut❤you will be shoketh
Chiquita , Ahyeon , Pharita , Ruka is my bias
But i love them all...!!!
#Baemon👾👾👾
The way you talk with your hands gives me much life
Please react their first member performance introduction and also last evaluation... So you can understand how they assembled 😁
Thanks for checking out this talented girls.
The live performance is right in front of ur eyes only after that SITM vid ☺
Where??!!!!
@Finesseyamina there are a few videos of the members prior to debut when they were doing individual evaluations. If you search babymonster live evaluations or even search Rami babymonster pick up your feelings you will find it. You will want to see everything before debut. There is alot but it's all very good.
Welcome to be BM stan, sis.😊😊😊
I like how you say things compare to other commentors. Thanks!
I would say as a group they are more vocally talented than blackpink. Hopefully that’ll take them very far
@@TheCutestChris18 Tell me a Blackpink song that resembles Batter Up, not if the white background reminds you of Shut Down...wtf....🤦♀
Obviously there are things reminiscent of Blackpink...this MV is a tribute to them and 2ne1, but not the song....
Y
Just stop with your bp😠
It's BABYMONSTER!!!
