There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting another dog. Nothing will replace an old baby. Glad to see you both found one to help you heal and be a part of the family.
I have found the quickest way to ease the emptiness & grief of loss is to occupy my mind with something new. It's not forgetting what was; because those are now precious memories. It is just a new chapter to add and build upon. A busy mind makes it easier to smooth out the loss as you continue on. Happy times ahead with your new pup.
Yes, you feel guilty for loving a new one, but it does help your soul recover and bring a smile when you come back home. You never forget the other ones either. The heart has enough room to love them all.
So happy for your new baby. I have six aquariums, and a Pomeranian, Teddy, he is now three, and I got him 8 months after I lost my miniature and toy Pomeranians in 2017. They died within 3 mos of each other, so the emptiness was horrible. Teddy changed all of that, and now my hubby is so glad we have him.
I truly understand. Had to put my boxer Hero down 3 years ago. We did the same thing and purchased my Sutter a Goldendoodle. He has bought so much joy in our lives.
We are a dog house too. Always so hard to lose one. They give so much and ask for so little.

Hi Jason, I just saw this show. I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. It's always so upsetting looking a pet like this. I don't have any actual children. My pets are the closest to children I have. I know you love yours the same. I'm glad that you got anew puppy. I hope she brings lots of joy to you and your family.
Sorry about your buddy, lost my dog cricket in the 90s at fourteen years old. There have been dogs since and I loved them all but there was and will only be one cricket!

Jason I'm so sorry for your loss. I recently had to put down my fishroom helper due to heart disease so I understand the weird emptiness they leave behind. I ended up finding several stray kittens and they definitely help transition through the grief. Sending you and Jen both big big hugs and much love.

Our 2 dogs are 12 and 14 now. My wife says no more dogs after this but she saw this video and maybe she’ll change her mind now.
I thinks when it comes to pets it's important to get that unconditional love back to not only yourself, but also your new pet. So many go without.

Sorry about your dog man. I lost my baby almost 2 years ago. I only think about her every 10 minutes now instead of all day. My other dog is 20 which is a Pit Lab mix. Laziest dog. I dont know if the new dog is going to be such a lap dog like pits are.. Still Ausies are one of my favorite. Good luck and sorry again
