- "Misfit" cub is used to being on his own. The pride wanders off. He's forgotten by his mother, brothers, and cousins, even by the teenagers. Alone and lost, calling for his family is not a good idea. Others may hear.
Even hippos kill cubs occasionally. Much more dangerous, the local leopard. Lions and leopards are locked in an ancient rivalry. Both kill each other's cubs if they find them. Twenty yards away from the cub, the leopard pauses.
The genet approaches. The leopard isn't distracted, locked onto the cub.
A hippo breaks the spell. Hippos may hate leopards, but are unlikely lifesavers for lion cubs.

The will of Misfit is unbelievably strong, weaker than everyone around him, he never gave up. You've captured the most amazing survival tale of Misfit against all odds. What a miracle. Very thankful mother came back for him ❤
You have no idea . You should see the next video after he’s reunited with his mom she refuses to let him eat. He’s injured and almost dies, but they recognize his resilience and give him another chance

The mother's aggression towards the adolescents at the end was so reviving and justified it was heartwarming
Yeah I can’t say they didn’t deserve it. At first, I thought they were love nips. But then they turned into straight up beatings. Mother gave them a whooping, and a well deserved one.
Very brave and lucky little lion. So relieved when he found his mom.
There is story after that too.. His struggle didn't end here

I think I was holding my breath the whole time watching this video. I am so incredibly glad that he found his pride and more importantly, his mom. Such a cute little cub, I thought I would cry when he began to call out for his mom. His fear and feeling of abandonment pierces your soul.

This poor guy! I'm really glad he was able to survive not only the leopard but the rowdy adolescents as well. He's a lucky one and he'll be great in the end :)

This little boy overwhelms my heart and soul with admiration. His next day and days were even more horrible, to be rejected by mom while so small and vulnerable and weak and to exhibit the strength, perseverance, and determination to humble them all not only to accept him back but to grow to became one of the sole survivors of all the cubs. This is one of the stories that compares to none. What an incredible living being. The mother Earth and all including us humans are lucky to have had him.
I’m a 29 year old man. I have extremely tough skin. But I can’t even lie, this whole series does something to me. I love cats so much. I feel like crying seeing misfit go through all this. I wish I could adopt him. It must be so hard to be a videographer and watch these types of stories unfold. I understand it’s the circle of life but the circle of life is tough and very unforgiving. The world can be very cruel sometimes.

Mommy still protected him and told everyone else to F off. The animal world is so different than human, but to see she still cared and knew who he was was heart warming.

This is similar to human life because at the end of the day, the only people who truly care for you are your parents. Or at least, that is how it's supposed to be. This made me cry because of all the little children in this world who don't have loving parents or don't have parents. it really breaks my heart.
My mother quit being a mother when I was 8. She's just a hateful cuss to me now. It was winter, freeze outside, especially bcuz I was running fever w/a kidney stone. She beat on the like 🚨👮🏻♀️She was going to break shed 🚪 🔐 & just cussed at me, I was begging for her to just leave! Then, Jason announced gun, or jail? She smarted off with I'll be back!
And he answered with I'll still be standing right here waiting for you, with my gun! Then, she slammed my metaldoor on me. I had 1 leg out one the 1st step so it hit everything all the way down my right side. Oh, it hurt so bad for at least a week or more. Again it was 3 yrs & nothing from herr until Sunday & she went to the hospital (nothing wrong w/her just want attention) she got it, they finally sent her for psych evaluation. I hate when she make me feel bad for her & she's she's the best at it! Sorry I had to get that out! It kinda fit since I have been a misfit my whole life& felt like 1 when I wasn't. That leopard was highly analytical. They assumed that other adult lions must not be far away and trying to observe but the hippo just wasn't worth the trouble..

@@2jcward Yes the pride did leave him. But look at the whole picture. The Leopard decided not to kill him. The adolescents lions decided to let him go. Luck doesn't mean being lucky *All* the time.

Divine intervention. GOD looked out for this one. By all logic he should not have survived the night under those conditions. Handicapped, alone and lost, along with hunger. A hippo just happens to be in the nearby vicinity as the cub is being stalked by a Leopard. Then in that vast area in the darkness in spite of those disadvantages he finds his pride.
Then escapes probable death form the older siblings. That is too many factors involved one after the other. That is not luck. This was definitely divine intervention.
I’m so glad I really don’t know what happens in places like the wilderness. This makes me so sad for the baby, glad mom found him.
Sleep head is forgotten, but instincts will kick in, so adorable, he misses his mom.
What an amazing world of wild animals! If leopard comes to kill him, hippo tries to save him. This is nature. I hope he no longer remains 'MISFIT'
It's an amazing story of survival. We people need to make the environment better for all wildlife. Stop buying crap you don't need is a small step.

They are in the wild and it is risky for a mom to waste her energy on a cub who isn't likely to survive. She has a her life to save and could birth more cubs.

@@ud2895 yes but isn't that why they have wildlife rescues? I live in South Africa & there are a few here also in Zambia & Zimbabwe & they rescue lions that are orphaned, abandoned, sick etc.

The videos of this misfit actually come from a series I seen on HULU a couple years ago. Each episode was from a different perspective. The one about the teenagers who were bullying the misfit was a good one too

The Misfit was only physically weak as a cub. Mentally he was strong as steel! I’ve only seen his story up to his teenage phase in lion years.
Does anyone know if his journey to adulthood has been recorded or if he lived that long? If he did, I wonder if he mated and started his own pride, and what he looked like with a mane if he ever grew one.🦁😄
