      You can't properly build a vehicle like these from the ground up without spending a lot of money. Make a list of every part on a vehicle. Then look up the price of each part. It's not at all cheap. If you have the money to spend. And you don't have the skills to build it yourself. Then this is a good way to go. If you build it yourself, it would probably cost more. Because companies like this get better deals for buying in bulk.

    Im doing a fully restoration on a 73 f250 “highboy” 4x4 has a stroked 390fe in it every nut bolt and screw on the truck is stainless steel everything on the entire truck is new or restored to better than new. When its all said and done i will have about 25-30 in it and i did all the work myself minus the paint work but i did help with the body work. The truck was my dads for about 25 years up until he passed away in 2006. In January 1972 we were in the depths of Michigan’s winter. I was driving down the street one day with deep snow on both sides and I had just about had enough of all this GD snow & ice & cold. We all came to a stoplight in from of a Ford dealership. I looked onto their lot & there sat a brand new 1972 F100 4X4. I pulled out of line & drove into the lot & gave the truck the once over. It was F100, 4X4, regular cab, long styleside bed, world famous 300 cid I-6 engine with 4 speed granny box trans. I was thinking this would be just the truck to get me about Detroits slippery snow & ice covered streets & I could put a blade on front & make some side money scraping parking lots of snow. Window sticker? $3600.00

I'd help him with getting hay put in barn and I got to drive the truck in the field and up to barn. Talk about in hog heaven.🐷😇 Loved everything about it and when came the time for me to buy my first truck...'79 Ford F-250 4x4 dark blue with metallic paint. It's got 160,000 miles on it and been a good work truck. I went on to buy an '82 F-250 s/cab 4x4 for my non work truck. In 1986 bought a new full size Bronco and F-350 4x4 crew cab. I own only American and only Ford! My friends say if I got an artery cut I wouldn't make it cause I would bleed Ford blue and no hospital carries that. So I tell them that's why the ambulance would have to take me to a Ford dealer instead of ER. Lol 😂

    • @J.R.in_WV
      @J.R.in_WV Год назад

      @@royalzak2670no doubt. I figured around $10k for a nice, rust free bump side F-250, either 2 or 4wd wouldn’t matter since you’re trashing the original driveline anyhow, then start with A well built ~350hp 12V Cummins, brand new NV4500 trans, Atlas 205 T-case and new Dyna-trac Dana 60 front and rear axles would run about $30,000, figure $10,000 for a really nice paint job on the body and frame, $25,000 for ancillary components like the interior power accessories, seats,stereo, clutch, brakes, wheels, tires, exhaust etc and $25,000 for labor and you’d have $100,000 in a truck that has the same horsepower, twice the torque and gets twice the fuel mileage of the 5.0 coyote F-250 shown here. Really just a better all around truck. If a man had the capital to build out 2 or 3 with the specs laid out above, maybe 1 with an automatic like an Allison 1000 with a $7,500 premium over the stick to appeal to different buyers, and you could put these guys out of business selling them at $160-180k and still be turning a really good profit margin.

    Thanks Jay. The first vehicle that I bought brand new was a 1971 Ford F-100. I drove it 50,000 mile in the first six months, mostly on the Interstate at 75 MPH and 12 MPG. It had a 360 V8 which was pretty common. I think it was basically a short stroke version of the 390. I traded it in 3 years with well over 100,000 miles. Super reliable. The handling was decent after I put Michelin radials on it.

    Grill on the truck '68-'69. I had a '68 camper special 2wd.16.5 gal behind the seat, plus aux 24 gal. tank inside the frame rails. Built in tool box in the passenger side bed. Drums all around. 360 2 bbl. or 390 4 bbl. Hauled my 10' camper with a trailer to the Ca. desert all through the '80's. Real tanks!

    I appreciate the discussion about the cost that goes into making something like this and still being able to make a profit.
    I've restored a few cars and boats no where near that level (just hobby/enthusiast) and it is no shock that these get up into big $ to do them right and even with some warranty, Making enough profit to support 150 employees making a living is AMAZING!

    I've got a 69 F250 4×4 Ranger, factory high boy, no power steering no power brakes, little rough, original 360 FE fout speed transfer case, replaced timing chain and gears 1980 something, pulls like a team of oxen, climb a tree if it leaned a little, had 9,000 lbs in it, and on the 14 ft trailer behind it, carried about two tons of hay at a time, just in the pick up, drove it to logging jobs, around the state of Oregon to horse shows(Tennessee walking horses)and over a cord of fire wood at a time, 2 or three more on a trailer, miles, unknown odometer quit working in the 70s, I love the ol' beast, two tone khaki green and light green tan paint, one of the best vehicles I've ever driven, and a 68 F250 2×4 now with a little newer 302 headers, 4 floor, with power steering , NO power brakes, sound good, (loud), love it too, blue and white original paint also,

    The F250 should have a supercharged 7.3 Godzilla with a 10 speed auto, 2 speed transfercase, Dana 60 and Sterling or 14 bolt rear. I understand not putting anything hotter than a 5.0 Coyote in a Bronco but for almost $300k it should have more than a 5.0, 4 speed auto, Dana 44 and 9".

I also had a 69' Ply Road Runner that I would switch back and forth with. Wish I had kept both of them. Sold them both in the mid to late 80s.
